Jude Bellingham did Real Madrid style on Slvk. Played awful for 93 minutes and won the match in the list minute. I'm still proud of our boys so far they keep winning i don't care how bad they Played. Real Madrid is not the most exciting football team but they are the most successful club in the world. Go on boys!!

I was screaming at the TV the whole match - “be positive” , “go forward”, “find the space in the middle” , “look at the runner” - so frustrating to watch and I hate to say this, but I wasn’t that excited when the scored the two goals.

They don't seem to have a playmaker in the middle of the park who can pick out those runners, unless Kane drops deep. The forward players often take too many touches, particularly Foden. He dribbles, then checks back, and plays a short pass. There's nobody that can take the ball on the half-turn and get it up the pitch quickly. It will often take them 20 passes just to get across the halfway line. It's all very slow and easy for the opponent to defend. That's just how I see it. They're too risk-averse.
Me neither, i was like 'oh good they have scored', i didn't really care. And its not lies RA-wp6th either, i have lost any excitement watching them. I am a Man United supporter, so i am used to not cheering my team lately. England and United are eerie similar lately.

Having fantastic individual players doesn’t make a good team. They just don’t gel as a team, that’s the nanager´s fault because they don’t have a defined style of play.. it’s up to the England manager to sort that out during training sessions.

@@AntzWar They looked good in the last part though, working hard to earn the victory. That was sweet. And it’s not fair to judge a team’s by it’s worst performances. I can remember nights when Brazil didn’t play well in internatioal cups. I agree the entertainment value was low in the first 90 minutes. But nobody will remember that in the final - if we get there. And football involves a lot of luck. There is an element of cultural arrogance here, too. Noone knows any Slovakian player, and we expect England to run circles around them, right? Who are they compared to our stars? But the Slovaks played well and they were organized well. We underestimated them, that’s the real problem. Same with Serbia, a strong team. You never heard about any of them. That’s why you don’t get why teams struggle against teams like that. It’s arrogant.

You can love players from your club all you want, but if you love England, you'll know Foden is the first problem with this team. He kills the attack and makes the team one dimensional because the other team knkws they can only attack from the right. Hence, they double and cover against Saka. For all that are in love with Palmer, what did he do today? Rewatch the game without audio and compare his impact to Saka's.
Stop starting Foden on the left he can't play the position.
Rice is a suspect also. He doesn't press and doesn't link defence with attack or other midfielders. Foden believes he can only redeem himself by scoring, so he seldom passes to a Jude. Also, Kane is too old and too slow to press.

I'm not sure about the goal being the spark England needed. As soon as we went ahead we reverted to type by sitting back, absorbing the pressure and hoping to see out the game. Didn't look to me like the mindset had changed at all.

We don’t need pretty football, just direct positive attacking play. We saw none of those. Yes, we got through but the team looked badly coached. The players are spaced out, the midfielders are passing backwards more than picking out attackers. In the end, both subs Eze and Tooney were instrumental in assisting Kane to score. Southgate needs to have more trust in his subs because they look hungrier than those first picks.
Statswise England dominated Slovakia more possession, more shots etc but they were never in control. I think the dominant style that people want is easily countered by teams like Slovakia who will just sit back and counter. Even the best attack sides seem to struggle or just get over the line when playing teams like Slovakia. But if England played like Slovakia they’d be criticised for being negative!. Every game I’m more confident in the thesis that football is not about the players and is instead about controlling the space. To me it makes more sense to cede possession, make the other teams take risks and conserve your energy for fast breaks and intense press if you make an error in your low block. I can’t stand high pressure, possession football it seems so illogical

Slovakia defended and we had to break them down that is always difficult. Harry should have scored and Declan hit the post. It's not perfect but it was not bad either.
