Ha! I just got my freeze dryer last month and same thing ~ I have to pull out the gasket or at least double-check it each time. Sigh. Anyway, I purchased some Backer Rod at Home Depot to make a ring that goes behind the gasket. That has helped a LOT. It's an inexpensive option, although I think I will have to keep replacing the ring because the vacuum pressure squishes it down. Otherwise, I absolutely LOVE that you made your own peanut brittle to freeze dry! 👏☺ I'm going to try this for my sister with the sweet tooth. Thanks for sharing! 😄
@@connieembleton To clarify, the "rod" is like pool noodle foam only smaller and in rope form. It's used to fill in big gaps before caulking. So that's the section where you'll find it ~ with the door insulation and such. Yup, definitely a game-changer already. Happy New Year! 🥳

What were the settings you used?
I used the candy mode setting on my Harvest Right. Do you have a Harvest Right? I used temp of 140F.
