    I use windmill a lot instead of metsu so its definitely a nice buff

    Note: I'm not a dataminer and have no way of verifying it myself, but I asked some dataminers on the r/MonterHunterMeta subreddit if elemental SnS got any buffs. This is what one person commented: "In the demo MVs, Drill Slash multihit has significantly better elemental modifiers (went from x0.8 to x1.3 element). Perfect Rush also now has x1.5 element instead of x1.2 element for the sword hits. Windmill also received a small buff, the first 6 hits now do x0.8 element instead of x0.7 element." As someone that preferred the older elemental slashing playstyle of SnS over the new shield bash meta, if this ends up being correct it'll make me very happy.

    • @SKY85sr
      @SKY85sr  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, hopefully they keep those elemental modifiers for the final game!

    You forgot to mention the guard changes. Guard Slash counter to PR is a bit faster, you move twice as fast while guarding, and you take a little bit less stagger from monsters relative to the tier. LR don't cause the full slide-back stagger with as many attacks, and HR monsters no longer cause the full slide-back with swipe and bump attacks that would cause flinches without guarding.

    People call me out for saying destroyer oil is ass. Because it is and it’s useless.

    • @SKY85sr

      Yeah, I was very skeptical of destroyer oil from the beginning.

      Same. True SnS mains knew from the start it's gonna be ass or underwhelming at best. if they give us Chaos Oil then i would STFU.

    Continue buffing the SWORD... cause I could call the whole weapon "The Buckler" as it stands in Rise.

    Moving while shielding changed in the demo, before you would shuffle when you shield but in the sunbreak demo you're crouch walking with better movements

      @@carterjacobs3405 it's not just you, I just tried it out because I haven't payed attention to that but it takes longer to turn now. It feels faster to drop shielding then spin and guard again.

    Just want to say that I used SNS here and there throughout my 300+ hours of Rise. It’s a really fun weapon honestly but just remember that this is a demo with pre-set armor and skills. I can see Chaos oil truly shine with better armors and skills to help it. So don’t give up on chaos oil just yet my man!

  • @GottaLoveDepecheMode
    @GottaLoveDepecheMode 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Lets go!!! I was waiting for your analysis!
    After seeing PR get buffed, I think it now makes sense. Not sure if you noticed, but the movement while guarding is definitely smoother and feels like Snake from MGS as well. I'm guessing Guard Slash into PR might make it more useful, but probably not in the end lmao.
    Also the only time I've used Destroyer Oil was the opening of Malzeno (with a 3rd wirebug) into Metsu Shoryugeki; definitely feels like it added to the guaranteed flinch of MS, but that's just me haha.

    • @SKY85sr
      @SKY85sr  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Guard Slash into PR still depends on guard knockback unfortunately. Probably not going to be too useful.

    • @legendarytat8278
      @legendarytat8278 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What in the world does “feels like Snake from MGS” even mean

    • @nickq8093
      @nickq8093 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@legendarytat8278 guardwalking with SnS got buffed, you now do a slow, deliberate walk (kinda reminiscent of snake's crouched walking animation) instead of just inching forward.
      overall, doesn't really matter.

    • @GottaLoveDepecheMode
      @GottaLoveDepecheMode 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@legendarytat8278 I mean, it's quite obvious my friend. Try using guard and moving forward in Rise, you'll see you move bit by bit so it feels quite clunky. In the demo, the same guarding and walking animation is much more smoother; if you played any Metal Gear Solid game, it's another reminiscent form besides the usual crouch walking.

    Hello, fellow commenters! I just wanted mention that the SnS build in the demo (in fact all builds in the demo) has Wirebug Whisper 3, so the base recharge rate of Destroyer Oil is more like 15 seconds.
    EDIT: I have added a list of every change to SnS in the description of this video. Feel free to check it out!

  • @nickq8093
    @nickq8093 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    one thing i'd like to point out (more for other people who know less about mh mechanics) is by the nature of destroyer oil and flinch mechanics i don't think it would ever have a significant effect in the demo compared to the base game unless they absolutely cranked up the affect for the demo.
    flinches are based on your actual damage, so with the full game and optimised builds (or even just better weapons, 260 raw and blue sharpness means base game rise builds will beat them in EFR) the effect will be magnified.
    not saying it will be good, but that it being shit in the demo is kinda to be expected regardless of how good it ends up being with the full game, still feels bad to use tho.

  • @touchthebacon5447
    @touchthebacon5447 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Been trying out destroyer oil and it feels like a wasted opportunity to bring oils back (which they should have just done that instead) since I feel no tangible evidence that it's even helpful in anyway plus Power Prolonger doesn't even work on it (I just yeast it and the buff is still 45 seconds). Feels bad man, but I still love the weapon so I'm not gonna stop because of one useless skill.

    So the values on the Destroyer Oil attack aren't great, but how much stronger does it make flinch/stun values to compensate?

    • @SKY85sr
      @SKY85sr  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would try to test it, but the build they gave us has affinity and latent power, so it would have been way too annoying.

      @@SKY85sr i think thats where the oil will shine, and i think making a set with slugger to double down on the amount on flinch/stunning on the monster will be insane. just my 2 cents on it.

    • @RiskOfBaer
      @RiskOfBaer 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Exactly, I don't even understand why you'd even evaluate it as an attack... It's supposed to be a buff to flinch damage. Declaring it will be "useless" based motion values of the attack animation is stupid.

    Even after the buff, Perfect Rush still needs some love. It feels like we aren't rewarded for the skill required to use it properly, given that its DPS is completely outclassed by Wire Charge loops.
