Only Shaper we still need is the Master Shaper, the big boy HQ unit (maybe rides a greater knarlocc?) that actually has semi-psyker powers because the collective belief of the Kroot under them imbues them with the factual power of the ancestors. Extra points to GW if the pull a Tomb King's Bone Dragon and the kit lets you either mount it on the monster or run it on foot with an alternate build for the monster.
2:45 Chances are you can't CP re-roll it anyway. CP re-rolls aren't for just any roll that you want to redo, there are specified rolls that are allowed.

The new kroot fix the kroots, forget about Tau. Also there might be a lot of new kroot models, but for now there is not much new unit wise. Krootox beeing split into a melee one and a shooty one, and a bunch of characters. I don't dare have real hopes of another fun new stuff for them. More seriously, many people think Tau need Melee, but i think what makes Tau hard to balance is that they are bad objective holders. They don't have anything cheap and tanky enough to occupy the middle board very long. Some charge threat might help get around it, but their main problem by design is that they're kind of squishy accross the board.
Tbh I feel the more tau units that aren’t actually tau will help them. They are an empire about following one ideology amongst many different species. So letting them expand and heck you can give other creatures their weapons just keep doing that.

A note, you say there aren’t true “factions,” which is true… but each faction does different things and incentivizes combining them. Galactic Republic has Coordinating Fire, tagging on debuffs when allies shoot nearby. Separatists have great action efficiency, with droids often taking 1-3 moves for free when it’s not their turn. Inquisitors break ties on points, Dathomirians get great sustain and lifesteal…. Please play with some of those Squad Packs. The game is excellent when you’re really screwing around in the sandbox.

Crisis suit EITHER have 4+ invuln (with the shield gen.) OR the fall back and shoot with that one accessorie. If Shaun was using both he was either cheating or he was just making a mistake learning the army. Also Crisis suits have no keywords🤗
Each crisis suit can be equiped with any combination of shield generator, weapon support system (ignore any/all modifiers to BS), or battlesuit support system (fallback and shoot), but only the specific models equiped with that wargear gets the benefits. So in a unit of three battlesuits, lets say one has the shield generator and two have the battlesuit support system. If you want to use the 4++ save, then any attacks with a successful wound roll against this unit must be resolved against the battlesuit specifically equipped with the shield generator, resolving the invuln saves until either all the remaining attacks are saved or the battlesuit is removed as a casualty, then you have to use the rest of the unit's normal saves. Similarly, if the unit falls back from combat, then only the two battlesuits equipped with battlesuit support systems can fall back and shoot, the other one without it cannot. Crisis suits are a tricky unit to play the rules right during games 😵💫
