thank you.
Thanks for watching
thank you Tomy
Thanks Walter
@@HovingtonInstruments i love watching a skilled craftsman at his work thank you
Thanks great video on a difficult joint.
You’re welcome, thanks for watching…
It is a very gratifying joint once it’s done 👍
Shaping the neck is always my favorite part of building a guitar, but a tight fitting neck joint is pretty satisfying too! I can't wait to hear this one!
I’m really looking forward to do the glue up on that joint... pretty soon we will be able to hear it:)
Always good info Tomy.
Thanks for watching Dane!
Thank you Tomy for another great and informative video.
Thanks Marcus, happy to hear you found something useful in the video
Amazing! Thanks and cheers.
Thanks Matt
Thanks Tomy! I always learn something from your videos that is useful even though I will probably never build an instrument, but you never know.
This makes me appreciate even more the time you take to watch my videos! Greatly appreciated! Glad you were able to learn something too..
You make it look so easy! the mark of a true master.
Thank you Sir!
good information their I will be trying that style of neck joint on my next mandolin build
I used to do the slot and pinned joint but after trying this.. I doubt I’ll ever go back... thanks for watching!
Tomy, where would one find an offset chisel like that one you are using?
Those used to be craftsman framer chisels.. last time I made a search for them they were in the vintage section. They were my Father’s set that I got when he passed.
Here’s a link to a set online www.google.ca/search?q=craftsman+all+steel+wood+chisels&client=safari&hl=en-ca&prmd=sivn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwi1v6aAm-rgAhVRtZ4KHScqDXcQ_AUoAnoECAwQAg&biw=375&bih=553#imgrc=2w2Qop3JUiSFQM
I was sitting here worried about how fast you made those cuts. So what would happen if you take too much out? Would you then have to fix it by gluing in a new piece of a similar wood, or would you have to scrap the part?
Oh geez! I wouldn’t want to be in those shoes.... but, depending on how bad it is, gluing shims on either side of the neck joint ( with the same grain direction ) would work. Some neck are reset this way..
Thanks Tomy, this was very informative again. Please could you make a video on how you make that inlay cavity around the scroll or at least give it some attention.. I did not find a satisfying way to do this. It is a fight evry time I am on to that part. Thanks again. Arie van Spronssen , www.vanspronssenguitars.com
are you referring to the binding around the scroll? inlay is usually mother of pearl.. not too sure I understand your request..
@@HovingtonInstruments I mean, the ledge binding around the scroll
@@vanspronssen It is a labour of love.. I have made this video from a previous build, H5 Mandola.. You may find what you are looking for in here. th-cam.com/video/aao948nEYtM/w-d-xo.html
@@HovingtonInstruments Yes that is it, the binding.
Was the link I attached helpful in any way?
