I was a street racer when I was a kid in the 70’s and had the time of my life! But now that I am old the most favorite thing about old muscle cars is…. Given the current state of the country today, you can take any group of seniors of any color or any ethnicity, and put an old muscle car in front of them and suddenly the only color that matters anymore is what everybody’s favorite paint color is! Suddenly nothing else matters but the muscle car! It’s amazing and I LOVE IT!! The joy dad and mom was sharing when they were cruisin down the street was PRICELESS! Good luck with the restoration and would love to see a follow up video after yer done!
What the country needs is more old muscle cars!!!

The oil had a long way to go to get to the valve stem.
I worked in a machine shop and rebuilt my 400 from Satellite Sebring Plus. Only way to get rid of the tapping was to machine grind the valve stem end, using a special measuring device, so all were the same height still in tolerance. A great oil pump didn't hurt.

So happy to see that you are going to take care of your dad's car. Roadrunners are super cool cars, they deserve to be preserved. After he passed away in 2016, I inherited my dad's silver '63 split window Corvette that he bought in 1973 after graduating from college. The car was his baby, and he drove it every weekend. I will never sell it and plan on giving it to my son when I'm gone. It's a very important part of our family history, as my dad picked my mom up for their first date in the car. My mom said that my dad drove like an old lady that night because he didn't want to scare her.

Point, plugs condenser,Rotor, time it.... you had to know what you were doing! No computer could perform those procefures! Great Story I’ve owned a Roadrunner myself that the engine was built to the Gills by the late Great Maurice Petty so I can relate. Wish I had mine back because that car would absolutely fly and I never lost a street race with it the entire time I owned it. So I have a soft spot for Plymouth Roadrunners and MOPAR Muscle cars.

I used to work at an Esso gas station in WV when I was 16. I actually got to drive a 1969 green road runner after I changed the oil and washed the '69 Road Runner. It was such a powerful car. 😉 I really like your story of one that sat for over 30+ years and your tenacity and hope it starting is very inspiring. Thank you for posting 👍👍.

Great Video! Love the horn! My dad had a friend that had a Road Runner. He would come pick my dad up for work and toot the horn. My mom said I would stand straight up in my baby bed and say Beep-Beep!

Yes, this was a real deadline because the son had to go back on his fireman's shift. We had until mid-afternoon to start the car, or we'd have to wait 2 more weeks and I'd have to fly back.

The distributor is loose. Dwell the points at 30 to 35 degrees of distributor dwell for best performance. Love the car for sure!

This was pretty cool to watch. Having to get the whole family involved was awesome to see. Thanks to your dad for keeping the car for all these years. My favorite car is a 70-72 Chevy Monte Carlo. I just love that car. I'm 63 and wishing I could get another one before I go. I know they are expensive these days.

And my wife thinks I’m the weird one that tells our tenants that our garage is not included with our rental property.I keep my 73 nova in the garage and refuse to let the tenants use the garage.
My car is a solid driver that I too got from my dad.I drive it in the summer when the weather permits.I liked this story because I can relate to all of and knowing now I’m not the only one who keeps the hot rod in the rental garage was the cherry on top!
Good luck keeping the car another 50 years!

Hmm, it's nice but I'd make it a show car. Why? Well..........
A lot of people seem to forget that old cars are a liability.
Headlights are crap, handling is crap and if the unthinkable happens, they will fold up like a paper plane.
I'd never give one to my child and would advise them against buying for regular use. First thing I looked at when my daughter came and asked me about a car she liked, "What is the Euro NCAP score"?

Love this! I'm a muscle car guy and Ive had many. I'm 57 years old and I never got my dad's 1954 CK 120m Jaguar. That would be a dream but who can afford even a fixer upper now. A Jaguar fixer upper may cost you more in the long run than buying a good one outright. 😢

Thanks so much. To me, cars bring people together, families included. I hope other people will advise me of other stories. The problem is most people call me AFTER the car has been pulled, started, cleaned. I need to be there before the car is disturbed when the excitement is high.

That will be a great car to restore. I'm a retired master mechanic 43yrs. Don't cut any corners on your restore it will be worth alot of money when it's done. It could be handed down and it will just keep going up in value. Glad your dad saved it. Wish I kept my 70 Rally Sport Nova.
