Somewhere along the line a lot of people, including these pundits, appear to have forgotten Chelsea finished 12th last season with only 44 points. With one match remaining, Chelsea not only have 60 points but are in 6th, could finish as high as 5th, and are literally the youngest side in the entire EPL. Finally, these pundits mocked Poch for previously bringing up the fact Chelsea are actually 4th in xG this season. The reality is points won and only points won matter at the end of the day. But Chelsea have literally won the 4th most points in the league since the start of January. What has happened is Chelsea’s young talented side is not only coming together but they are actually finishing their chances. Because Chelsea have actually dominated and outshot the vast majority of their opponents, even in matches they drew and lost. They have actually been playing to their exact xG for the second half of the season. Poch should definitely stay and anybody who objectively watches Chelsea know they have a ton of talent and have massively improved this season.

@@GOATBryan10 Completely turning over the squad, getting significantly younger (with less experience across the squad), and improving the results over the course of the season is an achievement. It's a small one, an expected one, but still something that needed to happen.

@@GOATBryan10 It absolutely is an achievement. The problem with people like you, and people like these pundits, is continuing to compare this Chelsea side to past sides under Ambramovich. That era is not only gone but that roster building ethos is very different. Chelsea are playing the long game, as much as people like these pundits mock Todd Boehly. Winning 16-19 more points from the previous season is, in fact, a massive improvement. This is what an actual rebuilding project looks like. And this is what growing pains look like.

This is an unnecessary video. Poch is a great manager and has a very young team to work with. Another full Poch year will do wonders.

The most delusional football pundits are on here with their crazy hatred comments about the actual achievements and improvements that they have made in the first season. If they win against Bournemouth they have a plus 23 point advantage and have already nearly doubled their goals scored in comparison to last season. They’ve been the better team that lost to Liverpool in the league cup final and the better team in the semi final against City. Since the start of the year they’ve won the most league games at home scoring the most goals. Have lost less games than Tottenham Newcastle Manchester United and done that with the worst injury list of players and the youngest team in the league. They have won more points against the top 6 teams this season than Liverpool Manchester City Tottenham have and should’ve won the games against Liverpool Arsenal and city at home. The rubbish about saying they were defensive is laughable when you look at the stats. The games they lost against Brentford forest they had 50 shots and 70%+ possession and missed a ridiculous amount of chances. I find it funny how they have so much focus on the negatives and criticism of the players. They slaughter Jackson who in his first season as a higher shot success rate than the likes of Salah Nunez Watkins and Havertz and has scored more non penalty goals than 3 of them. Keep up the hate because deep down if they know anything about football they will be very angry next season with the club hopefully having a better injury prevention rate and the squad playing in the second season of the development that is being made for the next decade that the club have invested heavily into.

Contrary to what a lot of pundits and rival fans keep saying, Jackson is a massive talent up top for Chelsea with a very high ceiling. Watching him objectively and critically, it’s clear he needs to refine his decision making in the final 3rd. But his first touch, dribbling skills, pace, physicality, running into channels, combativeness against center backs, movement off the ball, hold up play, and creativity are all being massively downplayed. I’m glad Carlton Cole actually gave Jackson a positive shout out last night. Because a lot of people are conveniently forgetting Jackson is only 22, in his very first season in England, playing his first full season as a striker, and has 17 goals and 6 assists. People who are writing him off (particularly Craig) are not actually objectively watching him and falling back on BS banter cliches that are genuinely lazy. Jackson is a massive talent and going to prove a lot of people wrong.

I think Mauricio Pochettino has done enough to earn another season at Chelsea. Last season they finished in 12th place which was so bad for them and this season they looked set to finish below the top 10 once again as they spent the season either in 11th or 10th place, but now they’re about to get European football as they’re in 6th place in the premier league right now. There’s an argument to be made that they would be in the top 4 had they not had so many injuries, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. For many Chelsea fans, they should be satisfied with their season as a European spot and getting to the final of the Carabao Cup and the semifinals of the FA Cup, on paper it’s a good enough season. They spent a lot of money, not a lot of people had high hopes for them this season.
Pochettino shouldn’t be sacked as he deserves another season in charge. You expect Chelsea to be a lot better than this season especially if everyone can stay healthy and they make a couple of signings in the summer. There’s going to be more expectations and pressure on him to deliver champions league football because the fans will want more and if he’s not up to the task he’ll probably get sacked. As we’ve seen with Chelsea over the years when it comes to managers, there not a lenient approach for them and it makes it difficult for them to achieve longevity when the bar is set so high for every manager that goes there. Only time will tell if Mauricio Pochettino is the right manager for this Chelsea project in the long run because European football is good enough, but he has to try and get them back in the top 4 if not they should get a better manager.

I think he earned a 2nd season at the very last, starting over with a new manager after jumping up from 44 points and 12th place last season to 63 points (assuming they win their last game) and qualifying for a Europa League spot next season would really hurt locker room morale imo.

The system in the first 35 games was poor... 35 games with a defensive system, 35 games with Gallagher at #10... 35 games with Enzo and Gallagher being a poor combination... 35 games in which Cucurella played as a right-back and Colwill at left-back before trying Cucurella inverted... 35 games not putting Palmer at #10 and replacing Enzo or Gallagher with winger... 35 games in which Sanchez would still be in goal if he hadn't gotten injured... 35 games which included losing to Forest, Brentford and Wolves at home: Do the math and that's 69 points and 4th place...
35 games in which Pochettino underperformed. Simple as.
