I fish the salmon river in Pulaski. At the beginning of the run smallmouth are still spawning in the river. I've seen kings, Steelhead, cohos, go after the smallmouth right towards the shoreline clearing them out for them to spawn. Wild site
Good questions! For me , I like to run a chunk for about ten minutes..sometimes I think they hit it better after it has milked out and turned a bit white . On a good morning of fishing I might go through about 1/2 to 1 of a one quart ziplock bag of skein. Depends heavily on the bite. Hope this helps
At 13:39 and 14:11 I see your friend and you both have your waders folded half way down to waist lavel, is it ok to keep a wader at that level if so how do you do it?
6:29 maybe you don't know but lifting salmon by their tail damages the nerves in their spine, causing partial paralysis, usually leading to the fish's death. Otherwise great video.
@@FishFray I have seen Atlantic Salmon under 5lb go belly-up after this so it definitely affects salmon. Most people don't know that this can be so bad though.
Great to see you guys fishing legitimately. Those guys fishing gravel are ripping fish from their spawning beds, makes me sick. Glad you guys did well on skein and spinners. I must admit, listening to that pin grinding sand hurt my ears but it’s part of fishing some days. Love the bobber downs and instant topwater headshakes, never gets old. Great video as always, Fray.
I love that you have been emphasizing the ethical and legitimate way to fish our rivers. I dont have any skein but do have bags. Will these fish hit floated bags in your experience? Thanks Fray, keep up the good word!
Catching a fish on bobber is my dream I only ever did it drifting eggs on the bottom or spinners. And you catch them only on bobber dang you a good fisherman. Love the content
That spinner messed the poor fish up a bit. Glad you got it home for smoking. More fisherman starting to use single hook barbless over here in the U.K . Harder to hook and land but.. isn't that sort of the point? More fun developing your skills
It's taken a beating this fall but there's no point in cleaning it out until I'm done with salmon season! It's a workhorse and spins through anything, which I love
Hi guys I fish for salmon in the uk using a centrepin reel. We trot shrimp which is very effective. What centrepin are you using? Looks good for the job. Thanks 👍👍👍
I live in Baldwin about 15 minutes from the P.M. Branch Bridge Landing near Sulak. I know the lakes in the area very well would gladly let you and your buddies stay at my place for some river knowledge and in summer would show you some lake knowledge..
I think in general the twitching technique would lead to foul hooked fish in the areas that I fish, so I haven't really tried it for kings. I actually got a summer steelhead out of a creek on a twitching jig recently, though
@@FishFray one day I hooked up on 20 using a steelhead jig but because it's for steelhead I lost every single salmon I hooked up I almost even landed my first coho
Haven’t got one on the spinner yet this year. 2 in skein up here in wny our salmon numbers are not pretty at all definitely seeing the result of that cut they did. More people keeping steelheads and browns for eggs and they’re stocking less of those to not looking good for us up here on the cold water stuff unfortunately
@@scottpetersen6869 not that I don’t believe you, but do u have a source where they said they were increasing stocking in Western New York? I’ll be so happy if they bump up the salmon numbers again. Makes me sad seeing so few fish and so many guys fishing for them.
I am jealous couldnt get out to fish this year working 7 days a week. Next season If we are still here I want to be on the water every weekend and at least 1 evening during the week.
I’m in the toledo Ohio area and trying to find some arctic spinner dealers but can’t find any. And the owner said he is pretty much backed up for the next 3 months. You know any places in Ohio that sell em? His websites shows only west side Michigan dealers. I messaged you on insta so you can’t reply there if you get the chance bro!
I'm yet to catch a king haha they give me the bird , run back to lake Michigan, and spit the Hook. Tough season but I've got a charter coming up fishing for steelhead.. 🤤🐟

When do you change your skein? How many cast do you get from a piece? How much do you go through in a day?

same here! I’m some holes it varies they want fresh skein and I’m some holes the want it super milked out and white so it just varies!
That's a nice floater...I like watching floater floating when come to fishing..
I recommend using barbless, single hook spinners!
Bo
"He swam with it for years!". Lol
Wow! Very satisfying!!
What rod and reel do you use for the spinner and which spinner color is it?
Once again Fray, thanks for bringing the river to me! 🎣
What part of Michigan? We go to Glen Lake every summer.
We done the same thing a few times this year and noticed it was also about 50/50. Cool vid man🤙🏻
Mix them buddy ,do your cure with fire cure then let it dry a but sprinkle light coat of bored o fire .and will thanks next time
the fish are abundant maybe not many people are fishing for cooking... I like watching this as if I was there...
Hi I live in Ireland, would it be possible to buy some cured bait from you, I can’t get it here
We were up that way last week and had the same situation, lots of people fishing the beds, but the pools were open and floats were dropping.
Typical october stuff!
At 13:39 and 14:11 I see your friend and you both have your waders folded half way down to waist lavel, is it ok to keep a wader at that level if so how do you do it?
Just roll up the top and hold it in place with your wader belt
Can you tell me something about lure that you use on spinning :)
6:29 maybe you don't know but lifting salmon by their tail damages the nerves in their spine, causing partial paralysis, usually leading to the fish's death. Otherwise great video.
Thanks! I have heard about this but was under the impression this was only an issue for really large/heavy salmon
Bonk 🤤🍽️

I thought the sulfites worked better for upriver fish coming from salt water but clearly works there to
Interesting
What river is it? Can green artificial bait damage the fish?

I have been lucky enough to get out quite a bit this fall!
I love that you have been emphasizing the ethical and legitimate way to fish our rivers. I dont have any skein but do have bags. Will these fish hit floated bags in your experience? Thanks Fray, keep up the good word!
Yes , bags will work! I prefer skein because it looks more natural in the water and I suspect they will hold onto it longer
I care not for ethical fishing. Tend to catch fish year round and just give them to my dogs
Wish our streams in Ontario were this high and dirty
This was awhile ago, the stain was so nice!
Please which reel and rood you used thanks
Blood run skein cane hd rod, colville paragon centerpin reel. Links in description 👍

When do the coho start pushing in with good numbers
Most river's coho have already started pushing, I think

another great video 👍👍 your killin it on the salmon run 🎣🎣 steelhead runnin soon ?
I'll be giving the steelhead a shot this week, they are.most definitely around!
You make casting look soo easy… great videos
If you're allowed two poles, like in ID, toss out a planer board with a tuna wrapped K15.

Nope, I like the stock hooks
Nice, dude! 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻🇨🇿
Massive fish!
Definitely some nice fish and big congrats guys
Thanks!
Bro lemme join you for a salmon float fishing day
You'd never get that hook to set out by my house with that line sitting in the water like that

It was a good season, but next year's run should be even better!
Very good video, big like!
Really nice catches I hope to catch at least on steelhead. I hook up a king but I took my lure smh.
At least I’m not the only one who’s center pin line turns red from the skein lol… great video!
What river
the birds are starlings
what kinda spinner is your go to and what weight do you typically use what color do you think works best as well?
Look at a few videos back. He goes over it all.
Spot in the intro is just next level 🤫🤫
On its day it can be 😬🤣
I can usually see a large pot of fish in my river and I will use bor aX o fire cure spawn sacs will that work?
Yes but it depends on the days if they are willing to bite especially lake Ontario tribs
