It always mesmerizes me how 4 young lads in their 20s were able to capture, master and represent such a deep understanding of life, death, politics, society. We need this in music and arts in general today more than ever.

It was written to be iconic, it's political, so will always have a place in historybecause its related to that time

I went to one of Roger 's The Wall shows years ago, and it was so good I drove 6 hours the next day to see it again on its next stop. 12 hour round trip was absolutely worth it. Just these 6 minutes this morning has made my day, and it's only 8am.
God I really wish I could have seen one of those shows. Then again, at the time, I was 8 (at the end of the tour) and I had no idea what a Floyd was or which one was Pink.

Front row center stage at his Tampa show in 2017. He came down and shook everyone's hand. It was so cool. It was an incredible show. My husband had just come from the show in New Orleans. He calls from the road and asks me if I'd like to see Rog in Tampa and if I could be packed and ready by the time he got home. He'd booked a room at the Hard Rock and gotten us front row seats. It was really sweet because I had never been to a concert before so it was special.
Proving the fact that Gilmour‘s Solo is iconic… the guitarist plays it note for note!

The whole arrangement was impressive. In the beginning I wondered if it really was live. They must have worked hard to get that sound of the originals so close. The actual performance made it clear though. Hat off!
Rogers Waters has aged as gracefully as his majestic Pink Floyd songs have. I have listened to these songs countless times over and they hold up to a timeless standard.

I am 18 and discovered Pink Floyd’s music a few years ago. Even though I am young, I am so glad that I was able to connect with the music while Roger Waters is still alive and performing!
I also discovered Floyd in my teens - a long time ago, but still well after they had stopped performing together - and it has always been with me. I'm happy to hear that it still resonates.

I just turned 19, my father introduced me to Pink Floyd when i was 13, by putting on the division Bell cd, putting on Poles apart and skipping to the solo, since that day i have listened to Pink Floyd almost every day. They are the greatest, Ever. I went to a roger waters concert in 2018 and damn, when the factory shown in the album cover came down during the ‘’Animals’’ sequence of the show. Idk man you just had to be there. Greatest experience of my life.

I'm a guitarist and i am so pleased with this dude's rendition of Gilmour's solo
Dave Kilminster is one of the best known secrets in the business. I played a set with him in Chelmsford in 2009, and he'd already been in Roger's band for a decade by then.. It was actually a jazz band, no singer, just jamming. Dave has got some amazing jazz chops, too. He was playing rhythm brilliantly.

I saw Roger twice in my hometown Brisbane Australia. First with Doyle Bramhall iii and then with Dave Kilminster. DB was more theatrical (and sang Dave's vocals) but DK was also an awesome guitarist.

The Wall kept me alive when I was 17/18. It was like a 40 year old letter saying "Yes, life is awful, and you are not alone".
Yes, it had the same effect on me. I was no longer alone.
The Wall is a double album with only two good songs on it, you could whittle it down to a single, maybe an EP if you're really pushing it. It's almost entirely filler.

I saw Roger Waters & his amazing band, perform “Roger Waters - The Wall LIVE!” at Manchester Arena, Vector Arena (In New Zealand, my home), both were Indoor Venues & I also saw him perform the same concert at Wembley Stadium, to 70,000 people. All concerts were extraordinary & the stage production was mind boggling & the sound quality, perfect. I would expect nothing less from Roger Waters! 😎👍🇳🇿👻

It's a double album with two good songs on it. Besides ABitW part 2 and Comfortably Numb, the entire rest of the double album is filler.
For those wondering if they should try to attend one of his shows,..... his last two tours have had the best, BEST sound quality I've ever heard in my many years of show production and doing sound myself. Always a great show!
I was FLOORED when i heard the firsts seconds of “Breathe” on the last tour, sincerely i have never experienced anything similar to the sound quality that Roger brings to his concerts.
aint it ? the pros and cons of hitchiking he had a holophonic system and there were speakers EVERYWHERE in the venue . in brain dammage top hats laughing was flying around in circles in the rafters ... the end of welcome to the machine the elevator sound was really something and it raised up and shot thru the roof . it was about a foot thick and it was oscillating liek a chorus , you could really feel it . i was tripping but ... it was real .

Dave Kilminster's first tour I think.. He's been with Roger for over 23 yrs. Excellent guitarist. I saw him in a small club in Chelmsford when I was traveling, and there were no more than 15 people in the club, jazz improv, no singer.. I got to sit in on drums. Maybe I'll upload it onto my channel.

I saw DSOTM in 1973 in Vancouver! But I saw Eltons Yellow Brick Road too. The only thing better was Led Zeppelin in 1974!

I had the honor of being asked to prepare my BCNY students for a number of Roger’s live performances when he’d come to NY for the Wall segments around 15 years ago. Seeing those kids faces as they hit the stage of Madison Sq Garden was a moment I’ll never forget. Thanks Roger! Keep rockin’! ✊🏾

@@beeragainsthumanity1420 I got 2 decent tickets in Phoenix for around 380 total. Seats were halfway up the lower level and right in the middle. Not sure if I'm going or not.
I work at a college that was lucky enough to host his rehearsals for the tour starting in a few days. Tn he gave a live rehearsal for about 600 ppl and I will attest that the new tour will be amazing!! Such a great blend of classic Floyd and new Waters music!!

I picked up a copy of Radio K.A.O.S. On vinyl this weekend, it’s from 1987. I really hadn’t heard it before, it led to Pros and Cons of Hitchiking, The Final Cut, The Wall…and eventually Dark Side of the Moon. My friend and I spent the entire Sunday reviewing his career. Amazing to have this show up today.

Roger Waters puts on the best show I have ever seen. My friends and I even traveled a handful of hours to see him in far away places a few times. Words won't do it justice. It's not just a concert - it's an experience. I also felt a strong emotional connection with Roger Waters every time I saw him.
He wasn't the singer for Pink Floyd, nor did he have a big impact on their musical sound. Even the cover art of DSOTM had nothing to do with him. He was literally just a crummy bass player who Pink Floyd replaced 40 years ago. He sounds awful, stop hallucinating on lsd when you go and you will quickly realize. 😢
I saw him July 8 in Toronto and it was fantastic. He is still rocking hard for sure.
Saw Roger perform The Wall Live in Yankee Stadium a few years back. That was very special. Have tickets to see him at MSG later this summer. A creative genius.

My mother gave me The Wall for my 14th birthday. Wore that out as well as a second copy. Pure genius and showmanship.
My favourite tunes to crank up in my truck when driving! Having enough power to feel the music.
I can't fault Roger when it comes to singing the lyrics of "Another Brick In The Wall" that includes all three parts as on the album, he does it so well, however on other Floyd songs David does a grand job as well.
The first time Roger Waters plays Stratocaster in these songs while performing publicly 🎸😉
He's playing single notes, tonics of the chords. Hardly 'playing.' You'd think he'd be able to play the chords. I don't know if it's not a prop. He probably can't play the bass and sing this at the same time.
@@PreacherAtArrakeen he's dubbing the bass part, on Us+Them he play the acoustic guitar on several songs, even on Welcome to the machine plays electric. Maybe, he just can't play the bass anymore (he is almost 80 now) and it's fine, he's a Human after all. I meet Waters once, and, was amazing.
Was he even plugged in? I couldn't pick out his guitar and that's ok. He could just be the front man and sing.

I’ve seen him twice (and a third time coming in August). I’ve never seen a more spectacular visual presentation than his, in addition of course to the incredible music.
This tour was incredible! The visuals were 2nd only to those on his 2017 tour -- did you see that one?

Egads, that took me back! I saw "The Wall" in concert on Long Island so long ago. I'd been to many other Bands' concerts before, but never experienced anything like The Wall.
That was truly an EXPERIENCE. The movie was great, but, really, you had to be there.... 😲🤩😊💯

Yeah, it was a pretty epic time for music.
The absolute best concert I've seen in my 55 years was Roger Waters "The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking" just after they split up in 1987. And that was just a few weeks before I saw Pink Floyd. They were my second favorite. It was amazing. But I was in college and eating lots of mushrooms while listening to Rogers album over and over. A buddy would turn on huge black lights, put on a blond wig, pick up his white guitar play a little, dance with a mannequin while we sat around the room tripping for months before the concert. So maybe that influenced why it was so great. We all saw it together. Which we saw every concert back then. At the old Omni in Atlanta. Long gone now. But wonderful memories. Saw Tom Petty then too and he could control the crowd better than anyone! Great time at that place. Rogers the best. They both said they split because they each wanted to go in the direction those two albums went. They were very different so it's understandable. But you always think what could've been. ✌️
I have been a huge Floyd fan my whole life but Pros and Cons is, to me, one of the finest works of art ever created by man.
@@traverhart2169 Ain't it though! I hate it only had the one mainstream song and it didn't take off. I listen to it all the time and still love every second. After hearing they each had a different direction for the band and seeing both albums live I totally understood why they split. Never felt that with any other band breaking up. Waters is a real musical genius. And I've studied music since I started trumpet in the 4th grade. Which would've been 1976. Went right through college and love music. But I couldn't touch anything near the man.
If you saw him on the Pros and Cons tour it must have been in 1984 or 1985. But then you couldn't possibly have seen Pink Floyd only weeks later. The Radio K.A.O.S. tour, on the other hand, was in 1987, same year as Pink Floyd's comeback with Momentary Lapse of Reason and subsequent tour, so are you sure that it wasn't the Radio K.A.O.S. tour?
@@sindrebruset4906 no. I graduated Highschool in 85. 85-86 was 1st year in a dorm. This was second year when I was in a 4 bedroom Apt with 3 Senior roommates. I think it was that fall. And it was the momentary lapse of reason tour with the beds and bulbs on the cover. In concert it was the first time they had the round screen behind them rimmed with light's. Did the usual pig over the people and all. It was a very good album. If you measure success by air play. And it was a great show. But I learned then Roger Waters was the musical genius of the group. Anything before that Roger was still part of the band. I think Pink mentioned something like, "part of us aren't here tonight, but we're still going to rock the house" stuff. The crowd liked it. Waters never said a word. I just had become so enamoured with a group of friends, listening to it every night in a buddy's Apt when we were friends. It was an amazing couple of week's. I still have T-shirts somewhere like all the shows I went to then. Think they all said 87 tour. So your off a couple of years.

I played my Dark Side of the Moon album until it wouldn’t play anymore.. then my cassette tape, then my CD… just none better.. NONE!! Thanks for having him on.. he’s still rockin’!

Guy absolutely nailed the guitar solo. I learned it when I was 15 about 37 years ago, from a guitar magazine. Loved playing it.
As a super David Gilmour fan, I kept waiting for the guy to be inferior. I could tell a slight difference but it was negligible. He was amazing!
Dave Kilminster is a great player. He's not Gilmour, but he does the solos very well.
@@TheMonroemomma I think note for note he was on point with the solo but David has a subtle smoothness to his playing that guy doesn't have. I can't put into words what the difference is but its there
