    I'm a master woodworker and have had my own business now for 24 years. I wanted to give you a few tips. One, for your dowels, instead of cutting all of them one at a time, you can use painter's tape. Tape them all together tightly to make one cut and you're done. I would tape them at the top, middle and bottom just to ensure they're nice and secure. Also, to keep your hands from being so close to the blade you can clamp the dowels to the fence just like you clamp down your stop block on the other end. Two, to prevent tear out on your wood when drilling, especially after you've already painted or stained, place your piece on top of a scrap piece of wood and put painter's tape on top where you will be drilling and then measure and mark on top of the tape and start the drill off slow with little pressure and then you can drill at full speed. You really only have to do the latter when dealing with cheap, thin wood but the tape has been a woodworkers trick for as long as tape has been around, lol. My great-grandpa used masking tape back in his day. I really love your decor and videos. "High End" and "Dollar Store" in one sentence is an oxymoron but you actually make it happen. I do similar things with big box store's lumber, i.e. Lowe's, Home Depot, Menard's, etc. using their wood (it's all construction grade and not meant for decor or furniture), and I make high end stuff with that when my customers can't afford wood like walnut, maple, etc. It can be done but one has to have the skill set and you most definitely have the eye and the skills! Keep these videos coming. I love watching them when I'm taking a break in my shop. We have very similar styles. ❤

      @michelleg1225 This is the first time I went through with a comment because I don't want to offend anyone. I feel it's so easy to do because people can't hear voices or see body language. I see it all the time in comment sections where someone says something completely harmless but someone else read it the wrong way and, boom... you have a TH-cam argument. I'm so glad that my comment didn't come off as a kow-it-all or like I was scrutinizing her work because I think she's awesome.

    i clicked this randomly and i screamed when i saw that you used sm black!!! black decor is my FAV and i've scoured yt for black diy decor on a budget bc im a teen and im in my fancy goth era but i mostly find "spooky" decor which i think can be kinda cringe and looks a bit tacky tbh
    these were PERFECT !!! instant sub and hopefully you'll make create more lovely pieces that are black !!

    First, your projects are clever and the results are lovely. Second, you are right on target budget wise. Third, it's great seeing a husband and wife working together harmoniously in a worth endeavor. Last, you have your kids working alongside making for a solid family foundation. Take a bow. We are in your debt.

    I usually cringe when I see "High-end" and"Dollar Store" in the title of a video, but I am never disappointed by your inventiveness & ability to see diamonds in the rough! I LOVE your design aesthetic... right up my alley. I was a little iffy when you started painting the plastic chargers with baking soda paint (😆), but am absolutely crazy for how they turned out! Thanks for saying what I have been thinking all along... I see tons of Dollar Tree DIY videos that say "high end" in their title and although fun to watch, I would not consider most products from there to be "high-end"... I mean, clearly the hosts are very talented but I find the title misleading.-- having that said, I do think this video shows nice looking items.

    • @donnalongo1848
      @donnalongo1848 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think every crafter now says that, and some of them are great but some of them should not have the name "high end" next to it, I don't care about the Dollar Tree wording because you can make something from Dollar Tree look high end, but every single video says "high end" now... Waiting for the ads to end on this video, everything in the picture looks fabulous.

    If you have a miter saw and are going to cut dowels like she did for the first DIY, if you wrap a bunch of dowels tightly in painter's tape or some other strong adhesive tape you can cut a bunch at once, if you don't have a miter saw you can get a miter box saw for around $12 just about anywhere and with that you could probably cut 5 or 6 at the same time to save time.

    This is the first video I've watched of you and it won't be the last.
    Although I'm into Boho, watching you gave me ideas of how I could turn some of what you made into things with a Boho look. And I like that you have a nice voice and don't sound pretentious.
    Now, this is the grandmother (who has done something similar), in me and wants to give you a hint. With making the wooden chain, you only need to cut the sides of every other one to join them into a chain.

He wouldn't even know how to turn them on 😂🤣 My kids on the other hand are always stealing my tools to fix stuff. At least I raised them to be resourceful? Ask Walmart if you can have the big box that tampons on pads come in and tell your husband you bought them in bulk 🤣 I just bought a handheld circular saw on Amazon and it is amazing! 🥰 I want the tabletop one she uses next. They have them at Harbor Freight for $50 and that's before coupons or sales!

    You’re very creative and talented. Thank you for sharing. I can’t get enough dollar tree diy! Before I even finish one project I’m already off to Dollar Tree for supplies for the next one. Your creativity is inspiring! I also make DT DIY videos. Let’s learn more ideas like this from each other.

    I loved all of theseeee!!!! I just made one of those pedestal bowls from dollar tree components! The previously non-existent wind decided to pick up and I got bonus texture from dust, dirt, and a few dog hairs for good luck ;) I love how you PWN those power tools! I can't wait to add to my collection! With the proper tools, your imagination is the only limitation

    Love your DIYs! This is my first time watching. I would love to know what “dollar” store you purchased your items at.
