Brilliant discussion about a genius film. Congratulations to director Jenkins and the Moonlight cast and crew. As usual, its always great hearing Ta-Nehisi Coates as an interviewer or interviewee.
Great, great questions from the host. Incredibly rich answers from Barry. This film means so much to me & I am so grateful to be alive while it has come out.
What?? I think you misconstrued my intent. I thought this film was ground breaking and would love to see more of this style of film coming out of America, It had a very European feel. Which is a good thing I think ... a refreshing antidote to the usual Hollywood big budget dross.I have no idea how you could think my comment was passive/aggressive. I was quoting the director when I said I am a 'passive ally' which he encouraged and used to describe himself. It's something to be proud of! I am not a member of the LGBTQ community but regard myself as a passive ally. To explain the term; it means that I am a supporter of their struggle with out being Gay! Please take a breath before you leval insults at fans of the work. Peace.
A great film! I live in Europe and decided against taking a cinema date with friends. Pleased to have seen it with my own silence, emotional empathy and cultural affinity. A beautiful interview / conversation from beginning to close. More conversations on cultural appropriation ...an excellent lead off question.

Moonlight...pure genius!!

Beautiful and sensitive movie. So much that is currently communicated is without words. Bravo. I really want an academy award for you.
I loved this so much. Thx for this interview!
Me too. As a "passive ally' to quote the director..
