Today for the second time you helped me a lot! Thank you very much. Nice music by the way. I used Sibelius, but I switched to Dorico and it's like day & night. You should try it if you didn't did already,
very clear . great demo.... my exported file is on my desktop is fcpxml and sibelius won't open it.. maybe i have to re-export it differently?????!!!!! my logic is 10.2.4 / sibelius monthly subscription 2020.9 Maybe i'll have to figure out how export as midi file - which is mentioned here
Hi Ernie, you'll need to export as musicXML and note fcpxml. To do this you just need to open the music in the score editor. In the Logic text menu at the top of the screen click Window>Open Score Editor. Once you do this, you'll be able to choose File>Export>Project As MusicXml.
Thank you for the tips man! I am importing into MuseScore, and it works great, just have to change the instruments, even though I names the tracks verbatum in Logic.
Make sure to import as music xml. It might not help in Musescore, but Music XML imports information beyond what MID imports including lyrics, instruments, etc.
I am not getting the same results, Sibelius gives me a ton of double sharps and flats - even when I change key. Think it's in using transposing instruments. Sibelius has also started crashing when trying to open the xml now.
What about for more fluid unquantized music played into Logic? Is there a way to export a clean XML file into Sibelius without having to quantize in Logic? Thanks
Is there a way to import parts into a Sibelius score? For instance if I export a flute part from Logic and want to bring it into the flute part in Sibelius.
You can create one in something like Musescore if you like. Open the MIDI file in Musescore, then export as xlm after you've added whatever you like. You could of course do it in a paid program such as Sibelius too if you want.
I should mention if #Drums is not showing up. Users should go to Preferences/Advanced mode and enable everything.
Thank you! Saved me hours 5 years later!
Glad it helped!
Dude! You are my favorite person, ever.
Thanks-glad it helped!
This has helped me SO MUCH today prepping for my upcoming assessment thank you so much!!!

Thanks for this video! Somehow I had no idea that Logic X allowed you to export as a music XML file.

@@TimPoulin I’m more than happy with what info it imports. Do you know if it’s possible to do split voicing in one track?

Did you find an answer for this? It's something I'd like to do!
How to create a xml file from midi to work within Logic Pro x??

My logic doesn't have that MusicXML option, what should I do?
Keep your score editor open on the region you have selected. Then export it. :-)
this is so useful!
