  • In this video I take a look at the Panasonic Lumix 45-150mm lens
I think its a great option for everyday photography or even travel photography - but if you really want a long lens then I think the 100-300 or 100-400 would be better

I have the Lumix 35-100 and the 45-150, both f4-5.6. I love the 35-100 for its extraordinary compactness but the 45-150 turns out sharper, clearer photos. Maybe my 35-100 isn't a good example, I don't know. Both lenses, like so many in this range are great examples of compact, readily available, value for money optics that can produce some fine results. Cheers 👍

    Thanks for your review.
I bought a black one of these two days ago for £69.00 in excellent condition as a cheaper, lighter alternative to my Olympus pro lens.
There is a firmware update available for this lens on the Panasonic website which updates it to provide Dual IS on Panasonic bodies with image stabilisation. It works a treat on my GH5 Mk 2.

I was in search for a good telephoto lens for an upcoming trip and found this at a local camera store for $50.00 at near mint condition. It even came with a diopter lens attachment for macro and I couldn’t be happier. That small size and reach for the price is certainly a great value. I’ve taken it to an outdoor birthday party for my kids at a lake this past week and it performed perfectly. Outside and in full sun it’s adequately sharp stamped down to f8. I’m looking forward to using this a lot for our trip. Hopefully I can get some nice landscapes and portraits with it. Thanks for your review and excellent job at pointing out this lens’s strengths and weaknesses!

The "HD" meant it had silent motors for video. Despite being only Mega-OIS it will go Dual-IS, but not Dual2. This usually requires Power-OIS (one stop more) so this is a little unusual. It was the "lightweight kit zoom", decent glass, smooth operation, reliable. I've had a black one for 10y or so, still good as new..

I have this lens but black and bought new in 2019. It was part of a lens bundle with the GX9.
I don't use the lens often but travelling like you say is a good idea unless you know for sure that you need more reach. I have the 100-300 which I use much more often. But, like you say, the 45-150 is small so you can through it in the bag with the 12-60 and a couple of primes.
You missed the Leica 50-200 f2.8-4 as a lens with similar focal length. But a bit heftier.

Thanks for this. My browsing of used lenses led me to an as good as new Lumix 45-175mm for 200 euro. It is unusual in that it has power zoom - push buttons as well as a zoom ring , a wee bit more reach compared to your 45-150 and Power OIS. I find it is very fast at focussing, also at full zoom.
