I am excited to see ioniq 5 N soon, hopefully you would get to track it as well. From the information that's out there, it seems like it would take this platform to next level by suspension tunning, better steering response etc.
It's not really a crossover though. It doesn't have a lot of ground clearance at all, and some body roll but not a lot. Also it's not a wagon. Idk where he gets that from.
GT is really made for fun and casual track driving. I just couldn't justify the range.. I'm sticking with my Wind AWD until they make the battery pack for the GT bigger if not the next-gen denser batteries that holds more capacity.
Nice to see someone run it in Ipedal, most don't and do not realize how much braking force it can provide. How much were you using the brake pedal to slow down into corners?
I wonder how much limited slip differential is helping with driving dynamics. I think this is only car at this price point to have mechanical limited slip as an EV. (Not fake brake one) Also thinking about Topher's comment on battery management, it's on same 800V Rimac patent as Taycan.. so I guess this car is basically cheaper and heavier Taycan S wagon competitor... At 1/2 price!
I guess it’s because non skilled drives otherwise really, really quickly could end up in serious trouble… 😊 The GT has serious amounts of power, and I think that hardly anyone would have the need of easily being able to put the car into drift-mode on public roads. Of course I know that some owners - but my guess is that it’s only a small percentage - are capable of handling the car in drift-mode on public roads… but then again, I think KIA has had a “Walter Röhrl moment” (you know, he insisted that the Porsche Carrera GT got traction control… because otherwise he believed it would be to much of a handful for most drivers). Simply put… if drift mode was easy to engage in this car, the likelihood of owners - with no history of driving very powerful cars - bending the car around the nearest pole, is just to high to justify. Besides, drifting an electric car vs an ICE car is done a little differently… and because the electric car can spin its wheels way faster, and there is no sound from the engine, you could get in a lot of trouble very quickly and almost without any warning. 😊
@@andersteilmann8005 The "non-skilled driver" would probably be way too lazy to find out that a double press of a certain button would enable Drift mode to begin with. I feel like that's a bad excuse. They probably did it like this to claim that "The driver went out of his way to enable Drift mode, thus we won't be liable for any damages".
Probably, not as fast in a straight line, but with the ability to turn TC off, and the well designed suspension for track, it's probably a whole lot more fun.
Why go out of your way to actively turn off the parking brake when it automatically comes on when you put it in park if it's just gonna automatically turn off when you start moving again or put it in drive?
Habit - most cars with electric parking brakes act that way but if you're used to a manual one it's just a habitual step that you don't really think about

I am probably getting the Hyundai version of it. I don't really care about range, I am getting gas guzzler sequoia as well.
I'm managing similar range in my GT as I did in the Wind I borrowed. Both get around 3.5mi/kwh in the same weather on the same commute.
If you need range on it, just put 19" wheels and youll get around 60miles more.

It's dual clutch so it can act like LSD but also do torque vectoring, depending on how it's programmed. Ioniq 5 N would be very interesting as well.
