- When I was 15 yrs old, my cousin Andrew let me borrow two CDs by a band I had never heard of, Bad Religion. The first was a compilation album titled 80-85, and the other was the band’s latest album, titled Recipe For Hate. To this day, they are still two of my favourite Bad Religion albums. This is the first song my cousin told me to check out, all those years ago. 'American Jesus'.

I have been a metal head since 1980. When this song came out so long ago, I realized there were two forms of music for me.
I'm a huge Bad Religion and Strung Out fan so I loved this.

Funny thing is that I've been a Strung Out fan for over 20 years (I'm 35 now), seen em live kazillion times... and I actually just recently became a Bad Religion fan during pandemic-times (a lot on the headphones while running). I know it sounds weird but somehow Bad Religion always just slipped under my punk-radar (although I've seen em live quite a few times as well) :o So yeah... loooovin this cover!!
My favorite Bad Religion song being sung by one of my absolute favorite lead singers.
My two favorite bands of all time. I'm 40 and still listen to punk rock and take my kids to shows now.

Jason proving once again why he's one of the best front men in the business. The bridge was perfect. The sonic waves produced allowed the discomfort of the single moms and atom bombs to set above the mix in a way that draws attention to the plagues this country still faces even in our technologically advanced society. And dead Jesus hanging in the background was a nice touch, although I think something like that would freak Jesus out if he ever came back.
LOVE it. And, yup, the discovery of Bad Religion growing up into punk was a HUGE eye opener. Literally decades later they continue to impress, rock, and be one of my favorite bands. Y'all did their track proud. Keep it up you crazy sumb@tches.
