    Thanks for a really in-depth review, I'm thinking of buying the helmet, the biggest consideration for me personally is being able to tailor the fit of the helmet to myself, I have allways struggled to find a well fitting helmet even with getting my head measured, because believe it or not different manufacturers even using the same measurements on there helmets the fit on them can vary wildly between different manufacturers. I have tried the carbon R10 on and it was snug but the chap in the shop said he could modify it, by shaving some foam off the padding, but I guess you could get different thickness padding?,another consideration I found out is carbon fibre helmet can sometimes be to light, I have a old bell helmet which weights less than most modern helmets of bang on 1000 grams and will bobble and get buffeted by wind , so I think its to light..so I think the R10 could be perfect.

    • @MotorsandMischief
      @MotorsandMischief  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Alpine Stars sells different thickness foam, which is probably a cleaner way to go than shaving the foam that's there. I've been wearing the helmet for a while now, and just did a 200 mile mountain ride here in Colorado with it last weekend. The fit is snug still, for sure, but its molded itself to my head a bit now and its easier to get on and off. Still very pleased with it. The aero on the helmet keeps it from being too light. I've had this helmet at about 140 mph, uh, on the track, and it doesn't try to pull the helmet off your head. Overall, still very pleased with it. Thanks for your comment!

    • @MotorsandMischief
      @MotorsandMischief  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Shoot you're right! Well the ventilation is great, the helmet provides good air flow and has enough vents that so far I've been able to keep it just perfect for the temps. Obviously, hasn't been very hot in Colorado but also haven't had to open up too many vents to keep it comfortable so we'll see how it goes but so far so good. On the fit, it fits my head perfectly and is very comfortable. Arai also fits my head shape very well; Shoei does not. I love the Shoei helmets but have never found one that was remotely comfortable for my head shape. I've had the R10 on for the longest about 6 hours at a time now, and I get a very slight soreness to my left ear. Other than that, perfectly comfortable. I'm hoping the helmet will mold itself to my head a little more with time and this will go away as well. Thanks for the comment, should have addressed both in the video but didn't think about either. Maybe a follow up video after summer. Thanks for the great question!

      @@MotorsandMischief Thanks for the reply. Is it a tight fit or an Arai fit? Race helmets are usually on the tight side especially getting it on.

    • @MotorsandMischief
      @MotorsandMischief  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ahh good question! I'd say its mostly an Arai fit. It is tight on my cheekbones but not noticeable as soon as I start riding and although I would characterize it going on and off as a tight fit, I don't have to force it down over my head nor does it try to pull my ears off when I'm taking it off. So I guess Arai Tight is as good a way as any to refer to it.

      They're crazy popular for sure. They keep popping up at our local Cyclegear but then are gone almost immediately. There was one at bike night last week but I don't think it lasted until the end of the show before someone snagged it. Make friends with your local gear shop, if you haven't already, and beg them to text you when one comes in; this has worked for me in the past. Good luck, you'll love it once you get your hands on it!

    I have just bought the black gloss and matte carbon r10 as it goes nicely with my full gloss and matte carbon yamaha R1 that i just built. My current lids are the matte carbon pista gp-r project 46 and the 2019 rossi replica pista gp-rr which i love too much too use as a daily wearer. My r10 will be the daily so my rossi lids can stay in the display cases for show 👌🏻. Ride safe brothers and sisters.

      This helmet is noticeably quieter than the Pista we showed in the review. I’d say the Alpine Stars fits round oval better. Arai’s fit the same, Shoei’s are uncomfortable, to give some comparison. Thanks for the question!

    Can you explain to me how to put the wind deflector that goes under the chin?

    • @MotorsandMischief
      @MotorsandMischief  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep, we're working on a video for this. Alpine Stars is *not* clear that you need to remove the chin spoiler thats already installed before installing the deflector. Its one or the other. Just pull the spoiler out and then push the deflector in around the rubber lining on the chin area. Thanks for the question!

    • @MotorsandMischief
      @MotorsandMischief  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We're working on a video that shows that as well as the A-Head system, because there doesn't seem to be one out there yet. In the meantime, the trick with the wind deflector is that it can't be mounted at the same time as the chin spoiler. The helmet can only have one or the other. You just pull on both of them to get them out, so remove the chin spoiler to install the deflector and vise-vera. In my testing, the spoiler that's attached to the helmet in the video does a better job of blocking wind than the deflector that tucks into the ERS tabs. Thanks for the question!

    How is the sizing in your opinion? I'm right in between M and L.

    • @MotorsandMischief
      @MotorsandMischief  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm an XL in Shoei but a L in Arai and of course an L in the R10. It's snug, for sure. So I would guess that I'm actually between an L and an XL and went with the L for the R10, so my *guess* would be you'd be more happy with the M. I feel like the Arai and the Alpine Stars are a little larger than the Shoei and the AGV for the same sizes but not excessively so.

    I’m using a Corsair X. The issue I have with that helmet is that I’m unable to see the display on my current bike without tilting my head downward. Would you say your Alpinestar has a lower field of view than the Corsair x?

    • @MotorsandMischief
      @MotorsandMischief  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is a great question and I wish I had a better answer for you. I absolutely love the Corsair X and that was what I was planning to buy before I stumbled on the R10, in stock, in my size and color choice, and took it as a sign. I can't find any specs on the Corsair X's field of view, but I can say that the only thing that bugs me about the R10 is I wish it pitched forward on my head just a little bit more because the gauges are totally obscured unless I look down. So I'm going to *guess* that the R10 isn't any better than the Corsair X in that regard and might even be a little worse. I'll try to swing by Cyclegear in the next few days and try a Corsair X and specifically check for how low the field of view is compared to the R10. Thanks for the question!

    • @MotorsandMischief
      @MotorsandMischief  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I don't wear glasses regularly but I wanted to test this for you so I tried it with my reading glasses. I'm actually wearing the helmet and reading glasses as I type this. I honestly didn't expect it to take the glasses well because my Arai didn't, but they slid right on. These are not cheap reader glasses, but they're not super thin riding frames or anything. They slide on without issue and as I'm typing this I don't feel any discomfort at all wearing them. Well, that's great! I'm sure I'm going to have to be wearing glasses full time soon so its nice to know they'll fit in the helmet without issue. Thanks for the question!

    Long ass review and I didn’t hear you discuss Fitment at all, which is more important than any other safety feature

    • @MotorsandMischief
      @MotorsandMischief  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      Little worried about the attention span of folks when 15 minutes is considered a "long ass" review. But I did talk about fit twice. Before riding with it I compared it to my Arai and explained how it fit the same head shape and was comfortable. And then after the review I mentioned the fit was comfortable but that I wanted to use the A-head system to adjust it better to how I wanted to wear the helmet. Another viewer kindly asked about how tight it was going on and off, and mentioned race helmets are usually tight. If that's what you're asking, I can say the helmet fits tight against the cheekpads and is noticeable when I first put it on, but quickly forgotten when I start riding. The helmet fits tight to my head, but is not uncomfortable, and although I do feel its a tight fit getting off and on, I don't have to pull it down hard to get my head inside nor does it try to rip my ears off when I take it off. If I had to describe it shorter than this long ass response, I'd say its Arai Tight. Fits light a tight Arai. Thanks for the comment!

    I've put about 300 miles on this helmet and this thing leaks and squeaks like a mf. -My visor also popped off (one side) mid ride when lifted it up to it scratch my face.
    - Wind noise is loud if you don't have the chin curtain (race helmet, wear earplugs or whatever)
    -air flow is great with the vents and it looks amazing.
    Definitely more of a narrow fit shell. Don't think it's worth the money, but still a sick helmet!

    • @MotorsandMischief
      @MotorsandMischief  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks for the feedback, its good for people to hear other riders experience. I'm surprised to hear you say it leaks and squeaks badly. I've got about 1000 miles on mine, and it has never made a single squeak, doesn't leak and I've had zero problems with the visor. I wonder if you got a Friday at 5 helmet? And I don't feel like its any louder than my Arai... All that said, I agree with you its too expensive. $1200 for a helmet is insane. I wish you and I could trade helmets and see if the two really are that different or if its just different expectations and I'm being too easy on my helmet. Either way, thanks for commenting!

      @MotorsandMischief haha maybe I got a Friday helmet, overall I'm impressed and a little bias, but for the $999.99 price Tag... why does it leak, especially when I look anywhere else besides straight. I also have to adjust the way it sits on my head. I want to add a cardo as well, but my concern is the amount of room in the helmet. Do you get any extra pressure from the speakers?

    • @MotorsandMischief
      @MotorsandMischief  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't get any extra pressure no. The helmet pushes against my cheeks more than anywhere else. But I only notice it when I first put it on, then its fine. To be fair I had the guys at Cyclegear put the Cardo in and they spent like an hour screwing with it. They said they thought it was mostly because it was first R10 they'd done, but it for sure took them a while to sort out.
