My next helmet, you sold me on the X15, I’ve been rocking it for months and I love it. I’ve been wanting the R10 so bad, once it hits shelves I’m definitely grabbing one!
Brian and team, I'm not sure what camera or lighting set up you switched to but the image quality of this video is great. Also great review on what looks to be a kick ass helmet.
Can't wait to get my hands on the R10 given the features and the reviews you put out on it. I currently have a Shark Race R Pro and looking forward to doing a video comparing it to the R10. Great vid as always!
Brian your the best 🙌🏼 Cannot wait to get this Astar lid !!! Thank you for all your vids, honest options and best genuine advice any rider can ask for ! Hopefully they will take your advice n fix things you didn’t like, appreciate your time and all advice please keep up the vids ! I will be waiting impatiently to get one of these !!! 🙏🏼
love the helmet and also a huge ASTAR fanboy, I knew this was coming but wanted something new for the 23 riding season. My choice was the Bell Race Star DLX Tantrum 2 and before the bell I have been a Shoei fan for years. To me the Bell has almost everything the Astar offers but at half the cost, and in my case I was able to grab it from the Netherlands for $632 to the door. Looking forward to trying this next year maybe I will give it a go? but that price needs to come down just a bit IMO. Any way great review buddy. Cheers
My only complaint so far is the chin curtain. It does not seem very stable or like it could cut down on wind noise. I have not had a chance to ride in it yet but curious what your thoughts are on that feature. And if you use it instead of the plastic accent I feel like it takes a little bit away from the esthetics.
I did not use the chin curtain and found the helmet to be quiet. The chin curtain is something I will typically remove and ride without to open things up a bit and keep air moving. - Van
Cant help but notice you do not mention the agv pista much? The agv pista is my helmet of choice and I am so curious as to how this new alpinestars helmet compares to it?
This helmet is much better than the RPHA 11 Pro IMO, almost unfair to compare them. The Pista is an excellent helmet just like this one that most anyone will be happy to ride in. The price tag on the Pista is pretty huge making the R10 a much better value. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear the more research I do the more I'm certain I'm going with this one I'm in the market for a new helmet any word on official release I'm looking at the all black version
I actually prefer the center lock as I feel the motion is smoother and it seals better because it is pulling down in the center and not off to the side. This one was pretty easy to use. - Van
Do you think a large would be to big on you? I measure 22 3/4 and bought a large cause that’s what always fits but now I’m wondering if I should have ordered medium
My issue is that the last Shoei helmet I could wear was the X11 ( am a round oval) all of the X series since the X11 have been to narrow, I have NEVER found an AGV that fit, how is the fit on the A* compared to a Arai Corsair?
If you are a round oval head shape you need the Arai Quantum-X Helmet. Here is a link to them on our site: www.sportbiketrackgear.com/arai-quantum-x-helmets/
I would start with the medium. Try it on before you ride in it to make sure you are happy with the fit. Important to remember a new helmet will break in a bit and conform to your head shape. - Van
I know what you mean, but the Chinese factories are capable of building high quality product - they build to the price they are given. Look at the iPhone, for example. I have the Supertech gloves and they are far and away my favourite track gloves. The workmanship is 100%. @@calvin2516
The fact that it’s made in china. It should be Cheaper than some of the other higher quality helmets. If it’s not, then Astars is getting really greedy. And I’m over all the greed.
Anyone else order there exact size and it be ever so slightly loose? I just order an extra crown pad that's 15mm instead of the stock 8-10mm ones that came in my XL cause my big ass 61-62cm head. Wondering if it'll fix my issue it's barely to loose so hoping that extra 5-7mm will make a difference.
Going down the road @ 60 MPH in Shoei Air or NeoTech ,, It's hard to tell if the air vents are open on a warm day. When it's 40-F out you can feel the vents working.
They are both excellent helmets that pretty much every rider will be stoked to ride in. For me the biggest difference between these helmets is the way they fit. The Arai has a larger opening in the bottom of the shell than most other helmets in this category and uses a unique cheek pad design to give the helmet a secure fit with a very easy on/off effort. The Alpinestars (and most of the other models in this category) have a slightly smaller opening at the bottom of the shell which requires a little more effort to put on and take off while offering a very secure feeling fit (this is the fit I personally prefer). I would also say the Supertech flows a little more air than the Arai. Once you get beyond that both of these helmets perform very well in every category. - Van
IMO there is no issue with the quality of the Alpinestars helmet. For people that prefer to have helmets not built in China there are several options to get that done. The Shoei X-15 is an excellent helmet. - Van
I have heard that several times now. The quality is excellent and with all the interest I do not think being made in China will slow the sales. Like it or not China has become one of the world leaders in manufacturing ability. - Van
Just odered one from you guys yesterday. You were pretty much the only ones to get one from. Hopefully, I will be as pleased with it as you are.

Would love to see how they progress with this platform. Looking forward to seeing a Street model geared towards naked bikes in the future.

Any idea on the head shape for this lid? Would love to get one but for round heads it feels like the only option is an Arai Quantum-X.
This is an intermediate oval like most helmets on the market. If you need a rounder helmet the Quantum is an excellent option. - Van
the made is china part just made it very hard to buy over a shoei
Yeah I won’t be now knowing this….
At that price point, it's a deal breaker for me as well. Even their $450 Supertech gloves are made in China.
