I use the 1205 mk2 mainly for music and I can’t say enough how impressed I am and how easily these subs blend into the rest of my system which was really important to me
Could You please explain how do I connect HT/1205 to use in both music and cinema? My Onkyo AVR has both subwoofer pre-out and L+R pre-out. In music, pure audio mode (analog input source), it must be L+R because subwoofer out has no signal. In movies it must be subwoofer out to get .1 LFE. I cannot connect both ways at the same time. How to get the best of both worlds?
Thank you for reaching out. When you have a chance, please write in to contactus@rel.net with this information about your audio equipment and our team will be happy to assist with connection advice and instructions.
I tested Mk1 vs Mk2 at home, and I could barely hear anything below 25 Hz on Mk2, while Mk1 could be heard down to 17 Hz. Did I get a bad sample, or this is expected for Mk2?
Thank you for reaching out. Assuming that nothing else in your system changed, then the HT/1205 MKII should be able to reach just as deep as the original version, if not slightly deeper. It would be worth giving the MKII a little time for the driver to break-in, which can help to improve it's low-frequency extension and overall performance, though if you continue to notice this then feel free to write in to contactus@rel.net and we will be happy to assist.
More pictures of the HT/1205 MKII, with and without the front screen grille attached, are available on our REL.net website: rel.net/shop/powered-subwoofers/serie-ht/ht-1205-mkii/#section-amplifier
Does HT1205 compliment blend with S510 in stereo mode? I uave S510 ....dont think u can connect Hat1205 to a Stereo Amp for that 2 channel speaker bass, looks like only has 0.1 LFE RCA. Can u please clarify im confused. I know the HT1510 has this stereo connection ability through the airship 2 though what about Ht1205?
Thank you for reaching out. If this system is used primarily for 2-channel music listening, then we would recommend against running an S/510 and an HT/1205 MKII together in a stereo pair. Both subwoofers have different tonal and performance characteristics which will result in you being able to hear a clear difference in low-frequency performance from left to right. Instead, when setting up a stereo pair of subwoofers it is best to use two of the same matching model, meaning either two S/510s or two HT/1205 MKIIs.
Thank you for reaching out. Since the Serie HT subwoofers were originally designed with a focus on home theater performance, we chose to not include the High Level input on these models, which allowed us to use larger drivers and more powerful amplifiers while keeping them at a competitive price point.
@@RELAcoustics does this mean less accuracy for time alignment/ phase? The T9X is the only one I have tried yet, and it is the simplest one to setup so far as others I hav had are very hard to get correct by ear
@@Rockit66 Thank you for your response. The T/9x is more detailed and accurate in it's output compared to the HT/1205 MKII, though both models are very fast in their output and use a very similar control interface, which means that they are both very easy to tune in a home audio system. If you have any questions about setting up or tuning any of our subwoofer models in your home audio system then feel free to write in to contactus@rel.net and we will be happy to assist.
On a scale of 1-10, how does it compare to the S/510? I have the S/510, but would like a sub a little smaller to place in corners. I use the sub for music and movies. So get 2 HT1205 or wait and save for another S/510? (Setup: Wharfedale Elysian 2 and Elysian Center, Rotel RAP 1580 MK2, Musical Fidelity Nu Vista 600 and Holo Audio Spring 3 KTE dac)
Thank you for reaching out, and for supporting REL Acoustics. It can be difficult to compare the HT/1205 Mk.II on a numeric scale to one of our Serie S models like the S/510, though generally speaking the S/510 is a higher performing subwoofer compared to the HT/1205 Mk.II in most categories. That being said, if you have questions about which of our subwoofer models will be the best fit for your system as a second unit then feel free to write in to contactus@rel.net and we will be happy to assist.
High there Rel, I have the first version of the Ht 1205 and when connected to my Anthem MRX 540 home theatre receiver I have a steep roll of after 80hz almost like the bass don’t exist. I tried all types of settings and adjustments on my system but still nothing. I was just wondering how the new Rel HT’s perform in the upper registers above 80hz.
Thank you for reaching out. The new Serie HT Mk.II subwoofers are considerably faster and more responsive in their output compared to the original HT V.1 models, which can help them to better reproduce signal above 80Hz. However, there could be other factors which are leading to this sharp roll-off in your system. When you have a chance, please write in to contactus@rel.net and our team will be happy to assist.
Do you think this sub can be used for the center channel via airship ii? I have a pair of S510s for L and R. I also have a T7x connected to a smaller stereo set up in my office. I suppose i could use that but...
@@Cleric996 The T7/x is better because you can connect High Level to the Center Channel output on your amp. If you went with the HT you would have to connect to the Center Out RCA and not all processors have pass through like that. You will also need a Y-adaptor on the REL side to double signal strength mimicking a L and R signal path but with only your center.
@@RELAcoustics or i could use the airship ii, connect the 1205 mkii with the center speaker and go full range, right? But my main question is whether the 1205 mkii or the t7x is suitable for full range with the center speaker from a sound perspective. That is why i mention that i have two S510s for L and R speakers.

Why is this subwoofer stated as a home cinema/movie subwoofer? What makes the tx subwoofers better for music? Ive heard that the ht subwoofers perform really well for music, so was wondering why this serie is mentioned as a movie sunwoofer? Is the difference that big with tx series?
Thank you for reaching out. Generally speaking, our Serie HT subwoofers are designed with an emphasis on output power, response to dynamics in the program material, and low-frequency extension, while the Serie T/x models are designed with more of a focus on the speed and responsiveness of their output. However, any of these subwoofers can perform well for 2-channel music or home theater listening.
Hi there at REL. I am buying a set of big planar speakers and need bass support under 100Hz. I was thinking of two subwoofers so that I retain the stereo effect and be able to counteract room modes. My speakers are insensitive (about 93-94 db) and I need something fast and musical. Suggestions?
Thank you for reaching out, and for your interest in REL Acoustics subwoofers! One of our subwoofer models will absolutely be able to blend well with your planar speakers, though the ideal choice will depend on a few additional variables. When you have a chance, please write in to contactus@rel.net and our team will be happy to provide a pairing recommendation specific to your system.

Just curious how big is the package/box size of this ? I just need the specs for transportation
The HT/1205 MKII ships in a box that is 21" x 21" x 22" (53cm x 53cm x 54.5cm), and the shipping weight is 51lbs.
