    I noticed with my REL Predators that they roll off fast at the low end below 30hz and on the high end above 80hz just like your 1205 MK2 measurements. I'm now switching to dual KEF KF92 which are flat down to 10hz and also go out to 120hz on the high end so they blend seamlessly with the speaker crossover. 😎

    One of the better sub reviews that I have seen very helpful. I have a ASW 2000 from Bowers from 20 years ago and it does rumble awfully well, it's a massive subwoofer. Also have a Bowers 802 D3. And I wonder if the sharp crisp subwoofer offerings from a new subwoofer would be worth pursuing although maybe the older sub that I have is more than adequate. I only have it turned up to 20% on the volume.
    Maybe I should extend the crossover from my main speakers Down to say 50 hz to pick up any crisp lower frequencies and overlap into the sub territory, and maybe help out the sub if it's deficient in these areas.
    The subwoofer is all about lower frequency stuff which I'm not sure is all that important to get with great precision maybe my older asw 2000 is not worth upgrading. It's in good condition so maybe I'll keep it

    • @stevehoang5289
      @stevehoang5289 ปีที่แล้ว

      B&W ASW2000 ? WOW, This reminded me about almost 30 years ago, I owned not just 1, but 3 of these subwoofers. They are beautiful to look at.
      I had one in my bedroom and I loved it so much I bought 2 more. The only problem I had at that time was I was a single guy, I had no house of my own, so I could not bring those 2 subs into my bedroom, I eventually sold all 3 of them.
      Nowadays I also own 3 subwoofers in my living room, one is JTR RS2 and the others are M&K subs. I still miss those B&W subs.

    • @iampuzzleman282
      @iampuzzleman282 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stevehoang5289 amazing, and maybe crazy to Own three 2000s. How do you Think it compares to newer subwoofers. I don't really have a chance to listen to many subwoofers these days.

    • @stevehoang5289
      @stevehoang5289 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @I am puzzleman , well, at the time I owned the B&W subs, I shared the room with a family, so I could not turn the whole system loud enough to enjoy it, but one time when I found no one was at home, I turned it loud enough and My God, it shook the whole 5 bedroom house, I was so scared I had to turn it down, and I am only talking about a single B&W sub.
      Now I am lucky enough to own a JTR RS2 subwoofer, I heard people used to call this an End Game subwoofer.
      For a simple comparison, all I can say is you used to drive a Corvette in the past and now you are driving a Ferrari or Lamborghini , the bass is super solid and punchy, it hit you right in the face, and when a single digit frequency is called for, you felt it hard in your chest, some things that I never felt with the B&W sub.
      Like I said before, I still love the B&W subs, you know one time I even consider buying the B&W DB1 sub, but it just never happened.
      BTW, my first subwoofer I used some 35 years ago was A/D/S MS3, I loved it too.

    We must have the same room because my measurements look identical. tbh Had I seen these measurements I'm not sure I would have bought this sub because as you can see it's far from linear and doesn't integrate well with speakers that need crossovers higher than 80 (and even then 60 or 70 is better). However it actually sounds far better than those measurements suggest especially for music which was a big consideration for me. Still wondering if I should have just gone with a Rythmik L12.

    I love my new dual REL ht1205mk2 subwoofers. I am running them in a 2 channel setup with Bi amped JBL HDI 1600 bookshelf speakers, powered by Marantz stereo 70s. I tried my brothers dual SVS sb 2000 pro subwoofers in my exact setup and was impressed with the extension of the SVS, and the sound quality was still quite good. There is a point where the svs subs would make driver noise when trying to play low bass in music around normal listening levels. I tried turning the room gain feature on the subs to remove some of the infrasonics. RG takes away too much of the extension for my liking. So either too much extension and driver noise, or not enough extension. I think they need to add more gradual steps to the RG feature to fix this. The issue with the SVS is always turning volume down when drivers sound strained on certain songs or movie scenes at reasonable volumes. The Ht1205mk2's sound natural and still have great extension. There is less infrasonic extension but the overall effortless deep bass these produce is addictive. Clear detail at any volume I have tested, I haven't had any driver noise just pounding bass in my room. I also have a Monolith 16, which has too much infrasonics and rattles everything, but is amazing for movies and music with insanely clean output and seat shaking authority that will impress anyone.

I also had the Rel 1205 mk II for a while but returned it because I wanted something that would be good for music long term even if I upgrade speakers. If I was building a system with movies as the 1st priority I would pick the 1205 mk II. I like the Rel T9x because it's extremely good at blending in with speakers. The 1205 mk II is good too but I think it makes the bass section slightly overly prominent in music which isn't necessarily bad depending on your taste. I do like the T9x & I think I made the best choice for me but sometimes miss the fun of the 1205 mk II.
