Korea is one of the most SUPERFICIAL countries around. Not all Koreans are, but it's sad to say that a MAJORITY are. As far as being racist to Filipino's, it's the darn new generation. Our Generation. They either never learned of, or completely forgot that the Philippines and South Korea have historically been and continue to be close diplomatic and military allies. They are also significant economic partners in terms of trade, immigration, and tourism. In fact, The Philippines was the fifth state to recognize the Republic of Korea and the first ASEAN country to establish relations with the new nation in 1949. Oh, and guess what...during the Korean War (1950-1953), the Philippines sent its forces to aid South Korea. The Philippines was even the FIRST Asian country to respond to the call of the United Nations (UN) to help South Korea when it was invaded by Chinese and North Korean communist forces. The Philippines played a vital role in helping South Korea win its Freedom and Independence. But who cares about our History of Love and Respect, especially the help we've provided for each other right? The new generation seems to want to start their own "history," and amongst it all, racism and hate for other foreigners. That's sad.

South Korea is going extinct due to their catastrophic low birth rates, society is so cold and cruel over there, no one gives a shit about a country having huge suicide rates especially in younger generation, no one values importance of free time such as vacationing, socializing due to jobs there literally overworking people to death, and these issues keep getting worse for the every year, nothing changes and sadly they can’t turn it back, korea is not a developed society, it’s like their numb to where they’re as a society, I love Korea but I would never live there, would be a complete nightmare!!
Yea, i laughed at that. Or you can say, why are you so pale, did you just came from the hospital? Or are you sick or something. Or are you a vampire? ahahhahah
I'm Asian myself and just because an Asian female is pale it doesn't automatically make them drop dead gorgeous. I'm not into the ghostly look myself. A pretty girl regardless of her skin color makes her physically attractive. What Filipinos love to throw at Koreans is "if they are so beautiful and believe in their own beauty standard, then why the hell don't they ever win or even rank in world beauty pageants given all their plastic surgery?"
Their obsession with soft features and white white skin is not attractive to me. Their pop stars all look like they been under the knife and are undergoing chemo. Skin that’s to pale is not a turn on for me
As Mexican I like Filipinos more, they’re more like us, family oriented, hard workers and similar food, plus the ladies are more curvy and prettier naturally, no surgery.

One of the saddest things I've heard while visiting Korea (as a Filipino) was that they are Racist towards North Korean defectors. You got these North Koreans who obviously know the regime is crap thus the reason why they defected but South Koreans can care less
That's true. I live here in South Korea, there's definitely a strong difference I can feel about the way South Koreans treat other Asians (Chinese, South Asians and South East Asians) in general. I am a mixed blood of Chinese, South East Asian and a bit European. Eventhough my skin is not dark, but I don't look Korean enough and they definitely look down upon me after knowing I came from SEA country. Arrogance and pride are the enemy of society. Money, power and greed are mostly the roots of all evil. Why are you acting so superior? Enough said.
@@andia968 They look down on them too. For one, a lot of them act uneducated, especially those from Mainland China. They don't queue, they're loud, and they also think they're better than the Koreans. Not saying all Chinese act this way, but it's not unheard of for them to.
I live in Canada and am not Korean. Back in high school, when I had Korean friends- when we hung out in the group they’d just start talking exclusively in Korean even if there were one or two of us that understood nothing. Most of them were born in Canada too. Idk what was up with that. I can speak Chinese and a bit of Japanese but I wouldn’t ever alienate a member of the friend group like that. If we hung out in a group with several of us who know how to speak Chinese and one girl who doesn’t- we’re going to speak English.
sometimes ppl do it just to practice their native tongue. as living in a foreign country, they don't get much chance to speak it and can quickly forget. so if there's like 5 ppl in the group and 2 ppl are having a conversation between them, they can often devolve into speaking their native tongue. and if that happens with another 2 ppl talking between themselves. it could look like they are alienating you, when actually that is a unforeseen consequence they hadn't noticed.
@@zenastronomy I feel like it wasn’t that given that I was usually between them ahaha… by virtue of assigned seating. And as mentioned- they were all as Canadian as I am and spoke Korean habitually at home. I grew up facing enough subtle racism being one of the few Asians in my town (80s-early 90s) and as one of only 3 Filipinos let me just say, it was rough enough dealing with the white kids, let alone the majority minority Koreans, who formed cliques and later gangs in high school. I had a Korean best friend when I was in middle school, but his parents hated me. Once we hit high school, he dropped me as a friend and joined the K-clique. I never knew why until I heard from a mutual Korean acquaintance that his church encouraged their youth groups to only be part of the Korean community and that other Asians (especially Filipinos) didn’t make for quality friendships. That hurt me to the core because me and my former friend were SO tight.
My husband has always thought the "korean beauty standard" look weird and "like an alien" to him. He couldn't understand why people thought it was considered attractive.

By the end of the trip, I was absolutely over the rudeness, and reciprocated their attitude back to them.
Look at Korea. A child is pressured to do plastic surgery. I bet some kids in high school have plastic surgery. I went to Korea prior to Covid. Like holy, I rather stay in my country than to stay in Korea where all cars were either white or black. Dressing is either white or black. Hair style is only male hairstyle 1 or female hairstyle 1. There's no individuality there at all. It was almost a nightmare.
Koreans look down on Philipinos. Period. Because Koreans look down on other people. Period. Why? There's a lot of psychology to that mindset. Thousands of years went into the development of that view on the world.
...are you stupid? Koreans in 1950-60s were even envious of Filipinos because they believed Philippines was better off than South Korea. NO, this racist attitude developped since 1980-90s at very earliest when Korean economy became incomparable to Phillipines.
Lowkey the fault of Chinese beauty standard that's been influenced throughout Asia for centuries. Though really, I wouldn't blame China for this as it was just their thing back then. Nowadays, I've been meeting more people from China that's a lot more open to people from different countries. Sadly, that Chinese standard is still heavily cemented in Korea.

Yesss, the saying is it's more fun in the Philippines. I've been to the Philippines and it absolutely is more fun. It's especially more fun than Korea.
If i remember correctly, it is something with ther culture in the Asian sinosphere. These people discriminate towards people born under the sun (dark skinned people) because darker skin is associated with being poor and dirty, while white skin is associated with cleanliness and rich. That's why sometimes foreigners get rejected from places in korea and that guy who felt insulted by being called filipino.
Yet in many countries in the west of Northern Hemisphere, dark and/or tanned skin is prized because it implies hard work and wealth. Two favourable traits among humans anywhere. Hard work because willingness to work under the sun which is a sign of strength, and wealth because they can afford to travel to sunnier places. After all, summer is only 3 months.

Yes, approx 50% Filipinos are like this because of all the media brainwashing and false rich culture. True Filipinos are not like this so if you find one, you found a gem.
Probably coz they don't often see freckles here? I noticed that whatever points someone might get for being fair-skinned here get negated by freckles. "She's so mestiza BUT look at those freckles!"
@yelmolahat8 I think it's not necessarily white washed. First of all: white people have freckles too. I'm European and have a LOT of freckles. Second of all, people tend to strive for looks that most people in their area don't have. So Europeans want to be tanned and Filipinos want to be pale. While there is nothing wrong with this, looking or talking down on people because they don't look this way is of cause not OK.

As someone (Caucasian) who is whiter than Koreans, I’ll just say to them, “why is your skin so dark?” “Why does your skin look unnatural? Did you use products to lighten it?”
Koreans in Korea will sometimes disrespect foreigners because the rules there are very protective of Koreans. If a Korean guy hits you (I don’t think this is very likely) you can’t hit him back or you will be guilty of a crime and he likely won’t be. If you are ethnically Korean then you can probably hit him back.
As a SEA, I've faced discriminatory comments by most EA people just because of my appearances growing up. And Korean people (and Chinese) who are so beauty-obsessed and appearance-obsessed come off as so arrogant. I think it's because of promoting a superficial culture...
The beauty standards of Korean women over there is also insane. The only types of foreigners Korean women would prefer to date are skinny, pale, tall, androgynous European white dudes who work in IT or graphic design. Even Channing Tatum would get rejected over there.
I was born and raised in southern california most of my life and have made friends of many ethnicities. Im SEA myself and know a fair amount of asians. I've been to Ktown in LA several times and interacted with many locals. It's been my experience Korean-Americans are the most religious, cliquey and reclusive and have a very in-group mentality very similar to nationalistic/mainland Chinese from Arcadia. That's just mainland asians in general, very materialistic and superficial culture. But you could argue this is how a lot of people are. It takes understanding to see other people's intrinsic worth, but to see if someone's a bigshot is sometimes as easy as looking at what they own. The 2 probably shouldn't be conflated, but it keeps happening because it works, unfortunately.

However when you get to know them they actually are very friendly and quite respectful. Asshole are everywhere ,so what the girl said here can basically apply to many other countries as well.
As a Vietnamese, my worst mistake was making friends with Koreans. They do not have the fun personality that Vietnamese people have. They honestly don't even know how to have fun. Or you can say: why are you looking like Casper, the "unfriendly" version ghost 👻👻😂😂
I honestly thought the girl would’ve liked that insult cuz the standard is pale and skinny 😂
That's the lamest response. Could've been better
Why do Koreans think that their beauty standards should be the end all and be all. It’s not exactly a universally attractive standard.
Their ideal beauty is quite “alien-looking”… big eyes, small oval head with a pointed chin, pale skin, small nose..👽
Their obsession with soft features and white white skin is not attractive to me. Their pop stars all look like they been under the knife and are undergoing chemo. Skin that’s to pale is not a turn on for me

How do south korean treat a pure blooded chinese?
@@andia968 They look down on them too. For one, a lot of them act uneducated, especially those from Mainland China. They don't queue, they're loud, and they also think they're better than the Koreans. Not saying all Chinese act this way, but it's not unheard of for them to.
East asians somewhat hate each other as far I know. Chinese especially hates Japanese.
They have a slave mentally don't worry lol

I do kinda get your point. Tho… During that time I also helped out with international students- The Chinese ones. I’D get scolded by teachers and other classmates when I spoke Chinese at all (even to translate for them) “because they’re here to learn English.”
I felt that was mildly discriminatory.

Solving kind of nationalist exclusion with overt racism isn’t really my cup of tea.
Plus I’M ASIAN. I also take offence to the all Asians are the same racist joke.
Was this in California? Also, are the Korean kids told to avoid Filipinos because Filipinos are usually Catholic?

Nothing compete with natural beauty. If all the trees and the maountain exactly the same.. there is no beauty in it.

I love me some kdramas but i dont plan to ever visit korea for that reason and others. Filipino american living in korean dense socal and i def notice how clique-y it can be. Thanks for that
I'm filipino and i wanna live in korea so i can disrespect them back lmao

Often called "The Plastic surgery capital of the world".😅
Because southeast tourist going for plastic surgery.
@@U-qho You blame Others lol Really funny..
Korean also racist towards Indonesian, the newest case is Indosarang case..
Honestly Filipino are more educated than Koreans if your talking about Filipinos working as OFW in Korea majority are degree holder and lastly Filipinos are blessed with NATURAL BEAUTY they don't need surgery to look beautiful
Phillipinos work as maids and prostitutes in Korea. Koreans don't work as maids and prostitutes in The Philippines.
We are very diverse.. many in the USA don’t even look Filipino
@@skyhigh5408 Congratulations that you don't look Filipino.
filipina women are beautiful, family oriented, kind, hard working, and definitely my #1 choice
First video of yours I've seen, love the energy 😁
Well, I am Vietnamese and I lived and study with alot of Korean during my college years. They are definitely a bit close minded and they prefer to live within their inner circle of Korean only.
They are so awkward around white people! I ended up dumping then and making white friends instead. They were so uncomfortable around my white girlfriend. They cannot adapt to different society like Vietnamese can.
Zanichi-Korean here. I'm full blooded korean and hell even I face prejudice. Being simply born in another country is enough excuse to be considered "not enough."
There's plenty of good folks there, just like anywhere there's the good, bad and in-between. But it's sometimes disheartening to know that there are times I prefer living in Japan then my own "homeland"
LMAO I can see why you’re bullied with that type of behavior and attitude.
Given what happened to the owner of Lotte, I am not surprised at all.
@@U-qho you really can't celebrate differences among people, right?
@@U-qho That is what we hear from many Zainichi-Koreans in Japan who have lived, worked, or studied in South Korea. Perhaps you could be a little bit less judgmental. These are people who have grown up with a strong Korean identity in Japan. Yet some of them don't feel Korean when they are in South Korea. It's both a culture shock and a mild identity crisis.
I've heard people say that sometimes they hide their Korean ancestry while visiting South Korea because they don't wish to be judged, critiqued, or condescended. We have also heard stories about some of them applying for naturalization to Japanese citizenship after spending some time in South Korea.
Very true in what she said. Use to work in an area with a lot of Koreans and yeah everything she described.
"Sometimes you just gotta reciprocate that energy." ✊
You forgot something Queen 👉👑
Filipinos sacrifice their lives to depend Korean freedom! Young koreans should study their history
Their impression of your people are just maids , nurses and foreign workers .
LMAO it’s the United nation Forces not Filipino read correctly 🤣 Filipino contribute very little to Korean War.
this is the guy that don't read history..it's sad
My country fought for you back in 1950, I hope the North and South unify in peace, as a Filipino.
PEFTOK 🇵🇭🕊️
Bro who’s oppa hurt this girl🤣🤣🤣
South Asian here I came across South Koreans intolerance of us via there no Indians allowed in Korean restaurants in India..lol Indian reporters eventually covered this and yet even with cameras rolling they were still reluctant to let them in. Also Mahindra an Indian conglomerate faced so many issues with Ssangyongs upper Korean management that they decided to divest from them after 10 years or ownership apparently due to racism towards the Indian managers (this despite the fact Mahindra saved Ssangyong from bankruptcy in 2011 from then Chinese owners SIAC)
