True story, at YCS New Jersey during mermail fire fist format, I played watts and was a bounty duelist. I started 2-0 then lost to Perovic who would later top, only because I didnt have black ship of Corn in my extra :( I went 6-3 total and then got very very wasted. That is my only Watt story.
I remember building Watts to counter Inzektors at their peak, what with the Hopperlock as defense and the direct attacking as offense. They didn’t work.
I physically could not establish the Hopperlock. Watts are a very slow deck, unable to summon both Hoppers at the same time. I’d have to use something like set Wattdragonfly, Wattkeeper, or Call of the Haunted and wait a turn to use them. And with three Inzektor Hornets around, those cards never survived.
@Johan Karson if i comment on this bot, is there a chance the person or people running these might listen? anyway, these bots aren't working. noone is falling for them. you are, more than likely, crippling watt traffic you may theoretically get.
Please do a Archtype Archive on Karakuri. They were my favorite machine type Archtype besides Gadgets. There fun quirk about them is constantly changing their battle postisions and opponents to mess up the board and prevent them getting battle damage on you when Karakuri inherent effect to change to defense mode when attacked. It was also a very fun swarming deck with their syncro monsters.
You know, when I look at the Yugioh fanbase (including myself) I realise exactly why we deserve the endless amounts of 4kids episode and dialogue puns. We fucking deserve it, we really do.
Alejandro Benett Could be worse... they could be Pyro-Types. IIRC the only pure Pyro-Type Archetypes are Volcanics and freaking _Neo-Flamvells._ (Ordinary Flamvells have many different Types so don't count) And aside from random crappy irrelevant Burn cards, their only decent support is Firestorm Guards and Infernal Flame Vixen.
At the very least Thunders are either generic enough to work together pretty well, or be Batterymen and run everything over. Better than anything Reptile has ever done unless something came out while I haven't been playing.
The CourierNX Well, Worms topped way back then, and King of Feral Imps is still one of the best Rank 4s in the game, so still beats Pyro by a landslide.
I just wanna say that I have been going through extreme family problems. And you are so good at helping me cope with it. The quality and hilarious factor of your videos keeps me coming back and being an huge fan. Keep it up
Very few Thunder archetypes. I'm surprised they never tried a "Static" themed Thunder archetype based on Flip effects that do burn (static shock) damage.
Static - doorknob When this another “Static” monster is attacked while this card is on the field (including face down, in that case flip this card face up) negate the effect and deal 500 damage to your opponent Atk:0 Def:1000 It’s like you open a door while trying to get somewhere (attacking) and it gives a little zip (burn damage) and makes you confused for a bit (negating attack)
It’s kind of too bad that Watts didn’t have any of their monsters have their fur standing on end. But if that static archetype ever does become a thing, I hope there would be at least a few of them present.
Also, they didn't bother building around "The Creator", which you'd assume they would try and do so given they literally created a card called "The Creator" and later dark and chaotic versions of said monster. Wasn't really until Thunder Dragons became an actual archetype and not that meme you did to survive Forbidden Memories where they actually got some kind of support.
Sooo... Watts were apparently just used to top a YCS over in the OCG... Yup, a Kashtira player used a small Watt engine in order to prevent his opponent from activating effects to stop his K-La cards going second, and it gave him the top. Watt kind of weird alternate reality did I get stuck in?
How to fix the archetype: the field spell card should work like this: All "Watt" monsters and Thunder type monsters you control gain 800 atk points. Your opponent's monsters loses 500 atk points for each Watt monster you control. All your level 3 or less Watt monsters can attack your opponent directly.
Name: "Wattchtower" Type: Continuous Spell Card Effect: Thunder monsters you control gain 200 ATK/DEF for each "Watt" card you control. During your Main Phase: You can add 1 "Watt" monster from your Deck to your hand, then discard 1 card. You can only use this effect of "Wattchtower" once per turn. If this card in its owner's Spell & Trap Zone is destroyed by an opponent's card effect: You can target 1 "Watt" monster in your GY; Special Summon it.
Messenger of Peace is literally one of the cards the deck is designed to function under. It's why Chimera is at 1400 attack. Giving them an additional 800 would screw up the math!

Thanks so much for creating this series, it really gives me an enjoyable understanding of an archetype and isn't completely silent or boring which is so rare that I can count the number of yugioh youtubers who meet that criteria on one hand. I really appreciate the work you put in to this series and would love to see more. Good video as always Rata, i really wanted to say thanks for bringing me back into the game after a good 8 years, i started watching your videos early this year just before the archetype archive premier literaly out of sheer boredom but somehow you managed to hook me back, anyways i think it would be really cool for returning fans like me if you covered the old fan favorite cards that with time got turned into archetypes( specifically blue eyes, red eyes and dark magician) because although i know the new cards, i have no idea if they are any good or if they had any impact during the time they were released.
From watt little I know, Dark Magician could otk if you managed to protect your backrow, the newest Red-Eyes comboed well with Buster Blader and Blue-eyes won worlds Don't know how bad link format fucked them
link format only screws with decks if theyre centered around spamming as many extra deck monsters as humanly possible... so long as theyre ok using only one (or none) extra deck monsters at any given time or are OK splashing in a few links (which should be easy to bring out considering they favor swarming like xyzs and synchros)... anyways i dont think dark magician was screwed over since i dont remember them using any extra deck monsters though i could be wrong and blue eyes i dont think was screwed over either since i swear they only ever use blue eyes itself alternative white and chaos max... once again i could be wrong though...
Fun fact: Watt cards are the most evil Side Deck that Chain Burn has ever seen. It gives the deck Rank 4 access and a searchable way to easily do 1k damage per turn and/or nuke you with a giraffe into Rank 4 play. The only reason that you don't see it ran very often is because giraffe is a surprisingly expensive card (it was only ever printed once, and it was pretty rare even then), which puts a playset of it out of the price range of most Chain Burn players. As for the archetypes other options, their good cards sort of mix well with Thunder Family but the resultant decks are often so degenerate that you're better off just playing Chain Burn.
I hope you cover Archfiends sometime soon, I love that archetype, so underrated. Anyway, I ran a half-decent watt deck back in the day, it was focused on having low attack as an advantage, locking out higher attack with Messenger of peace. I had another variant that juiced watts up to make them have more offensive capability, which I ran wattaildragon in.
Almost all Red-Eyes support is quite recent, it doens't really make sense making an archive video on something relatively new... Only exceptions are Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon, Wyvern, Darkness Metal Dragon, Metal Dragon (AKA the completely pointless one), Inferno Fire Blast, Chick and the old fusions (which are just effectless beatsticks). All the things that make Red-Eyes an actual archetype are from Arc-V era =P
Watthydra was my first synchro monster. I know its not the best, but damn do I love the art. Honestly, I know this archetype sucks, but I just love it for how fun the art is and nostalgia
I actually used a few Watt cards in my early Thunder Dragon deck (on Pro). Wattcine provided good staying power, and if I was able to get out Watthydra, I could use its banish effect to activate a Thunder Dragon’s banish effect. I used Wattfox as the tuner since 2+5=7, and if nothing else, it was a low-level wall. I also ran Vylon Prism for a surprise attack boost.
Funny how fox and hydra where fairly decent in duel links thunder dragons because fox was searchable through duo and hydra could activate the TD effects with a somewhat decent body
Sweet I Love the Watt archetype. I know they aren't that strong especially today, but the idea of them is pretty good being direct attacking and attack reduction.
I had a friend back in middle school who ran a Watt deck, and we’d love to play as a team in tag duels against our friends. We don’t hang out anymore, but it was fun none the less.
Im impressed Rank10. 3 Archetype Archives in relatively short time. Cant imagine the work you must have done to get them done so fast. I believe you've earned a little break dont you think?
Poor watts. They actually would have a lot going for them...if their gimmick wasn't so specific. Also your Example "Watt" Deck had like 7 watts in it and no support cards, that's not a watt deck!
I'd be interested in seeing another Archetype Archive featuring an archetype exclusive to Zexal or Arc V. I've played the Yugioh games from the original to GX and even the synchro era. By the time Zexal and Zexal-related games had come out, I really wasn't keeping up to date as much cause synchros already took a college semester to figure out. But I'm still interested to learn about new archetypes that came out that I never heard of. I know there are new cards for older archetypes (like Cyberdark and Vampire) but I'd like to see a completely new archetype featured (Like the Gimmick Puppet's episode). I know you don't really "take requests" but I just wanted to throw that out there. P.S. If you do Jurrac's, please go easy on them. :P
It might be 2020 now. But so help me I’m gonna build a Watt beat down deck. I’ll use DNA transplant to go into wetlands to get the wetlands watt beat down!
Suddenly: new Card: Watttrain. Light/Machine 1000 attack 0 deffense Level 10 This card is being treated as a Thunder and Machine Type monster. You can Specialsummon this card, by removing a Watt monster from your graveyard. This card cannot be used as XYZ material. This card can attack your opponent direktly and if it does: Reduce the attack damage of all enemy monsters by 1000. When this card is being destroyed by battle, specialsummon 1 Level 4 or lower Watt monster from your Deck. Just to troll Rata even more.
Here's my idea. Watt Sponge (Spongebob Squarepants in monster form) A level 4 Light Thunder monster with 1600 Attack & 0 Defense. This card can attack directly. When this card attacks your opponent cannot activate monster or spell & trap card effects from their field or hand until the end of your next turn. How does that sound?
>that Sonic Forces theme in the intro >checks video post date Has it already been three years since Sonic Forces? It feels like it was just months ago that my friends and I were joking about Coldsteel finally becoming a canon Sonic character.
That is a very sweet rabbit you have there. I do legitimately like Watts, and I'm thinking that there can be a variant including that new field spell that turns all damage taken into 1000 LP of damage each time. Maybe a little limiting for some, but then you can combo that with Wattkey and deal large amounts of damage by swarming the field with all the Watts you can muster.
WATT a SHOCKING video. In his CURRENT state Rata doesn't upload very FREQUENTly but as fans we don't put up much RESISTANCE to his erratic upload schedule (because we don't have the POWER to CHARGE into his house), or WATT in NEWTON's name he's doing at OHM.

Please record the duels.this meme is beautiful
You genuinely make me laugh. Thank you.
Suddenly: new Card:
Watttrain.
Light/Machine
1000 attack 0 deffense Level 10
This card is being treated as a Thunder and Machine Type monster.
Watt Sponge (Spongebob Squarepants in monster form)
A level 4 Light Thunder monster with 1600 Attack & 0 Defense.
This card can attack directly. When this card attacks your opponent cannot activate monster or spell & trap card effects from their field or hand until the end of your next turn. How does that sound?
Tfw Wattrain was actually made into a spell card.
@@GatorRay A 1600 direkt attacker is a bit ruff. It is basically just Wattgiraffe + 400 Attack power
3:55 this joke keeps making me come back to this video
I didn't get a notification wtf
Emanuel Dryndak
Yeah me too *Watt* the fuck?
>that Sonic Forces theme in the intro
>checks video post date
Has it already been three years since Sonic Forces? It feels like it was just months ago that my friends and I were joking about Coldsteel finally becoming a canon Sonic character.
*insert an unoriginal watt joke*
Stygian Sky Watt do you mean?
Kinda wild how this archetype actually got a proper "wattuna" monster
(Or, as our favourite Brooklyn brit would say: A WATTUNA MANSTA!!)
Do jurracs
That is a very sweet rabbit you have there.
I do legitimately like Watts, and I'm thinking that there can be a variant including that new field spell that turns all damage taken into 1000 LP of damage each time. Maybe a little limiting for some, but then you can combo that with Wattkey and deal large amounts of damage by swarming the field with all the Watts you can muster.

That rabbit is amazing. Sounds like the best therapy animal I've ever heard of, too.
"Watt does the fox say?"
Watt did I just watch.... but no, good stuff as always! If anything, i love the funky colors and art these guys have!
