  • Stand in the middle of the mind of someone with Dissociative Identity Disorder. Based on true 'headspace' conversations, for the first time ever, we are able to embody the alternate identities using actors to portray them.
Listen to what they have to say, get to know their dynamic, and truly appreciate why it's important for their voices to be heard so a system (all the identities) can learn to communicate, cooperate and function.
    ACTORS:
    Jake - Will Sid Smith
    Jamie - David Flanagan
    Ed - Thomas Fabian Parrish
    Ollie - James Ryall
    Jess - as herself

Man having DID is like working with different types of people for a group project. Without everyone's cooperation, there will only be chaos.

Aren't we all living in a massive group project called "Humanity"? Seriously, I feel like this video is about DID, and DID is about all of us! Learning to love each other is learning to love ourselves. I know, it 'sounds' fluffy bunny, but it FEELS right.

We need a full length movie with all the actors that portrays DID ACCURATELY to better educate society. Not the drivel Hollywood keeps making but a real story. One based in truth and facts not salacious stereotypes. Imo Thats the best way to destroy the stigma and change the inaccurate narrative. Which is exactly what yall are doing here on TH-cam but i would love to see it on a larger platform to a larger audience like the big screen or hell even Netflix would be amazing!

or "Frankie and Alice" with Halle Berry, I don't think many people know about this movie (and it's based on a real person with DID).
I'm not sure --personally-- how well it does at showing someone's own situation, but Ms. Berry said she "did meet the real Frankie and Alice, but I didn't meet her until after the process was over. We talked to her, and our writers interviewed her, but the real Frankie didn't remember much as the movie will suggest. So my research was more reading books on the subject. And I actually met a doctor that was willing to answer all of my questions, and he actually allowed me to see hours and hours of real tape of real patients in the therapeutic process going through all of their multiples and struggling with bringing them all together" [www.npr.org/2010/12/31/132527850/Halle-Berry-Opens-Up-About-New-Role]
They had the movie on Netflix at one point (which was how I first saw it), however, they have since removed it... I can't exactly remember how long it's been, but probably a few years.
      A couple of notes:
      * This movie is R Rated for its s*xual content, language, and dr*g use, so TW for whoever sees this comment and chooses to watch it.
      * It's about 1:41 (hour & minutes)
      * TW again - some of the language used is racist, but it's based in the 1970s about a black woman (Frankie) who has a racist white alter (Alice)
Anyway, I think this movie is good, and I #HighlyRecommend! Then again this is just my opinion. PS. I know this was long *facepalm*

Seeing the bit where the protector alters try to step in between Ed and Jessie was really illuminating actually...that was the part of the video where the idea of alters as a coping strategy for the brain really stood in focus. I don't have DID, but I do have an anxiety disorder, and there are parts of myself I don't like or hold a grudge against because of something that happened in the past. I could actually relate a tiny bit with that exchange between them all at that point even though those different parts of myself don't have actual different states of consciousness and individual personalities.
It feels sort of like what I know about anxiety and trauma processing, but magnified and amplified (not to mention personified).
All this to say...you're helping and reaching people who have history with anxiety and trauma who don't have DID too. Thanks. :)

Dear christian women of the world the vaccine is the mark of the beast. Here is why. Remember cell phone contact tracing where you get a app to track who you get in contact with through out the day? Well imagine that in a rifd chip that can fit in the fold of your hand or nose. It keeps track of those who took the vaccine and allow businesses and the government to know if you are covid clean or not. Without it you can't buy or sell. With it you can enter stores to buy and sell. That is the truth. Anyways the vaccine is the mark because without it stores can't sell to you and without it you can't enter stores to buy. Love y'all

  • @itsukori609
    @itsukori609 3 ปีที่แล้ว +53

This is absolutely brilliant. Before yesterday i had no idea DID was such a normal thing. I’d only had knowledge from media like Split, or people in insane asylums. I’d always been taught that people who have alters, multiple identities, or people who have schizophrenia and hear multiple voices in their head, were all insane with strait jackets in padded rooms, but that proves how far we are in the education of mental health. I would love to see a full lenght movie on DID with actual educated and empathetic actors, or perhaps actors who actually have DID, so that in the future we can encourage more resources and empathy for people with DID. The ending especially touched me as someone with anxiety who suffers from panic attacks especially at night since childhood. I’m so thankful for all of your efforts and bravery for coming forward and being willing to show all of yourselves to the world, especially Ed, i realize how difficult it must be for him. Thank you so much, this was such a beautiful piece

There's an Australian DID system that was recently in national news because not only were alter testimonies accepted as witness testimony in court, but they actually won the court case and sent their abuser to jail for 45 years, which is probably how long ago the abuse started.
That is Jeni Haynes and her army of 2,500 alters and fragments. This video is a 7 minute piece talking about Jeni's condition (still referred to as Multiple Personality Disorder), and talking about feeling free now that it's over: th-cam.com/video/cS2AndkBux8/w-d-xo.html
60 Minutes did a longer (40+ minute) piece on Jeni Haynes and her army. This one may be triggering to some, since there is a little more detail and you find out some long-term effects of the abuse that will make your heart hurt, even if you haven't experienced anything traumatic yourself: th-cam.com/video/lsXFcbPbvI4/w-d-xo.html

All people involved in portraying these alters, really do a great job..
I know this comment is rather late, but I didn't see this until now.
The entire idea of this is beautiful. To be able to give everyone the chance to inhabit the outter world simultaneously, well.. The closest to it. I also think it's beautiful that everyone had a chance to get things off their chest to really work out struggles and come to an understanding.
I understand why Ed is so cautious of the internet though, and I really respect him in all ways pertaining it. Because he could very well just leave it at "F* that" and not participate at all etc..
I remember one video he was very upset, and I felt bad for him as well as everyone through that ordeal. I'm glad to see things progressively... I'm having trouble finding the right words here, in basic terms.. Getting better..
You all seem like sweet people, (And the actors too), and I cannot fully convey through words just what seeing this means to me personally.. And I admit I'm not yet comfortable.
But your messages in this video, really give hope for overall acceptance and understanding of DID. It's scary to be in a spotlight.. But there are enough good people who have your back. Of that I'm certain.
Love to you all, your connection and courage is so admirable.

I think Ed portrays something very important that a lot of people (without DID) go through.. some people who have really traumatic childhoods and never had a fair chance/ended up in not the best situations.. live their lives thinking they are "bad people, no hope for them, undeserving etc etc". They are unable to see the good in themselves - even when everyone around them CAN see the good. The things you have gone through dont ever make you a bad person. Listen to all the people around you, who love you! Listen to all the good things they have to say about you. They are saying it for a reason - it's TRUE! And know that you can heal from your traumas. Your traumas dont define your future. You define your future.

One of my systems friends referred to the alter who was made to front during the trama as "the sacrificial lamb" this actually helped them feel better even though they still resented the part who decided to make them that person.. they feel more whole because well.. after looking into why you would have an alter who presents as your abuser. We all fused. Then split off into the same parts but slightly different and well.. they became a new fused alter who is better able to handle what happened. (Basically with fusion it's like magnets and since the part that "the lamb" had to fuse with was already fused together with 2 other parts.. they fused with all of us.. sucked for 2 days as I have separation anxiety and I ultimately caused us to split..) we are only 3 parts now.

At time of writing this comment I'm a little over half way through but I just had to say these things:
    1. Jess looks so proud everytime I turn the camera towards her of the other actors/alters.
    2. I love Tom as an actor and I love how he portrays Ed.
    3. I love love love the little small interactions between Ed and Jamie which make it really clear they are a loving couple and caring of each other.

Ed deserves all the love in the world! He is very sweet and i get why he was so confused why they were doing the video. It must be weird having someone who may or may not be a person that understands what DID is looking into your life and the others lives. I'm really happy i got to experience this and learn a lot more about how DID works. I hope all of the others are doing well!

DID is not only such an incredibly difficult thing for others to understand, but also, for a person with DID, to self-reflect on the “form” of what’s transpiring inside.
For a very long time I told my therapist that “I can’t see myself”… meaning that I wanted to take a step back and see the big picture in order to grasp the totality of what’s going on. But I couldn’t. All I could get was transient glimpses of a variety of different angles of perception… but never an all encompassing view of myself. This video changed that. Honestly. This video provides exquisite explanatory imagery and perspective that up until watching this I did not have.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for making this production. ❤🙏

With Ollie too! Watching their interactions is really beautiful. It’s one thing to hear about the inner world, but having a visual representation of how they work together is incredible.

I got a bit teared up when you explained to Ed that he's not a bad alter and I also got teared up when they described him because he couldnt describe himself well enough. A lot of people can relate to that sort of misunderstood-alien in the family, including me, so Im just so happy to see Ed expanding with Jamie by his side and showing his true self, that is a good self.

The confrontation between Ed and Jess was powerful, and how it opened up this whole dialogue between all of you about things you've all wanted to say to one another but couldn't until now was so vulnerable and raw and gave such an amazing insight to something we'd otherwise not ever be honored to see. Thank you and thank you to the amazing actors who have stayed with you all.

This honestly is amazing, people do need to understand that people with DID aren’t monsters or scary, they’re just people who went through a lot and have multiple identities that helped them go through that. There’s nothing wrong with them. They are lovely people. They are humans.

Just came across this and it’s one of the best representations I’ve ever seen. Usually I just tell people that way I hear is “like having 10 cannons in my head and those 10 cannons shoot off 10 cannonballs, so what I’m saying isn’t always what I’m actually thinking” or “it’s like being in a crowded room all the time with no control of the volume people talk at or what they say or do and we are all waiting to watch something on a tiny screen”. It’s not the best way to explain it, but it’s worked for the most part when explaining it quickly to a new person if I don’t have time to really break it down.

*Jess:* You are a great host (as far as I can tell) and I am in awe of what you have acchieved.
*Jake:* Jamie was absolutely right. Your positivity and kindness leaves me in awe. Thanks for putting a smile on my face.
*Olli:* You seem like such a cool dude, I love "having you around". You continue to impress me with your maturity!
*Ed:* I understand your reluctance to share your life with the internet - so it means a lot that you participate anyway. You seem like the kind of person I would love to get to know better.
*Jamie:* Well done moderating! I feel you control the chaos and look out for everyone - which is super important when constantly being a team. Good job.
Thank you (all) so much for letting us in on your conversation.

I remember watching a documentary on Jess and her alters for a diagnostic class. It made my heart happy because she has such an awesome support network who cares for her and her alters. DID is a totally real thing that can be caused by trauma. I definitely suggest looking into Jess’s story because it so beautifully humanizing.

  • @Meggsie
    @Meggsie 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

I found myself gravitating towards Ed. I think its because I've suffered trauma/depression/suicidal ideation but I don't have DID so all of me carries it. I think Ed might dislike the Host because he sees her as being irresponsible, that she needs to toughen up. And there might be some of that that is needed, she shouldn't be coddled everytime something is confrontational. But just like I've stopped beating bruises into myself, Ed needs to speak more gently with the host. The only way I can see Ed and the Host getting along is if they spend more one on one time. Learn be more tender and learn to trust.

Holy shit am I teary eyed, I don't have DID but my partner does and this is so wonderful, to see the alters be who they are outside of headspace and interact as a normal family which is what all children and people who experienced repeated pain deserve a normal, happy family, I know not all systems get along like yin and yang but each system is so unique and just as important as the next, I know this video isn't that recent but even so I'm happy I found it, Agh you have me choking up I wish for even just a day my partner's alters can have a physical body outside of headspace, even just for a day...

This was such an educational video, I learnt so much! I had heard of the language around DID before, maybe watched a few videos on it, but this video really brought all of that together and helped me visualize the concept, so thank you. It must have been a ton of work to put it all together.
Really makes me wonder if this type of 360 video format, that simulates a person's mind, could be used to help communicate other mental disorders too. Like... for instance I know this video is a tiny bit scripted so it's clear to the audience what's going on, but I still was surprised at just how clear your mind was, like your alters could remember what they said previously and stuff. Not trying to insult you, just I get pretty constant brain fog so its very hard to remember things, and seeing your mind do that like it was an everyday normal thing was like.. wow. Really cool stuff

I agree. I am blown away at how accurate this is. One of the most frustrating parts of having DID is trying to explain to others what it's like living with it. I will be showing them ALL this video. Thank you again. This makes me feel less like a freak and more understood.
