I *love* my model 700 XCR that's chambered in .300RUM, although .300RUM is an ignorant round. However, 1/4 mile-1000 yard shots are a piece of cake. It's got a Leupold cds-zl2 side focus/firedot duplex.
Your channel needs to have more people paying attention to it. I’m here cuz of FieldCraft as well as Cleared Hot. If one wants to learn shooting, then when Kevin speaks they should listen up. I can’t wait to dig into this one.
One of the best instructors out there .. I have an AR10 7.62 / 308 with 24" Fluted Barrel 1/10 twist .. weighs a ton .. 1 MOA .. not packable .. A2 Stock .. 4.5-14 x 40 Bushmaster Scope - but it has the Nico Duplex Crosshairs, not mil-dot - I hate it - good for plinking targets, but can't really do any precision holdover with it - best guess .. Precision Armament M11-A2 Muzzle Brake .. I'd like to move to a collapsible stock .. better mil dot scope .. muzzle brake or flash hider with suppressor capability .. maybe 18" Barrel ..
Kind of a tangential question, over the years I've seen a number of Barrett 50 cal rifles and they are always defined or discussed as sniper rifles. Are those still in play and if so, what role do they play now?
Very likely just because that’s the one Kevin and his team tested and selected for SOCOM. Maybe people like ZCO or Kahles etc didn’t put anything up for the program. Lots of good options out there for top-tier optics, NF being one of them.
@@JohnSmith-yx8kf Each alpha tier scope excels in certain aspects over the others. ZCO for instance has the best available light transmission, and anecdotally, the best durability. Kahles has the most true tracking (1 click = exactly 0.1mil, reliably), Tangent Theta has the best field of view. They're all phenomenal, but saying the ATACR is the best in this application requires some additional information.
I have a wee Sniper Question for you Kevin P. Owen's? What kind of Sniper like my Uncle Brian? Has a File so Classified? That only either the Queen of England? Or the President of the United States? Can only Unseal before it can even be looked at???
That’s not true, we tested that, one of the reasons we dismissed a 7mm light round with very high MV is because it burned barrels too quickly It would have cost to much for a force as large as ours
@@kevinowens9636 I’ve also heard the 6.5 cm barrel life is good for 2k-3k rounds while the 308 is good for 10k. Does this hold true to what you have seen through testing?
@@Joe-fl5rw Depends on firing schedule and barrel material. Stainless barrels will wear much faster than nitrided/melonite/chrome barrels. And even if you do get, say, 3000 rounds on a stainless 6.5 before the groups start to open up, that’s a LOT of precision shooting for an average person. If you’re after a DMR type gas gun, stainless might not be the best option.
@@JohnSmith-yx8kf yeah I understand that. I’m not advocating for one caliber over the other. Just trying to verify information I’ve heard with real world experience.
I love how one of the most authoritative minds in the business approaches the subject like an everyman. Practical, sensible.
Thank you Sir, I am an everyman
Appreciate you addressing things that are basic for you, like cheek weld and bipods, but useful for the rest of us.
Kevin I had no idea you had a channel. This is extremely valuable info.
"and let it eat" oohwee dude chills.

Great Video - flawless explaination. Keep the good work up!
😀
Learned a lot. Looking forward to the next one
Great video Kevin! Look forward to part 2 and taking one of your classes whenever you're teaching in the northern Arizona area.
Great content, can’t wait to watch the rest of it!
Good shit sir, keep the blessings coming our way.
Thanks for all you do 🇺🇸. Looking forward to the next one.
Great stuff !! Its almost like you have taught before 👍🏻🇺🇸

Excellent information, really well done video.
What was the name of that torque wrench? Great video 😎😎
Fantastic video Kevin.
Your an amazing reservoir of knowledge.
Well done. 👍
Love it, please keep making videos
Great video!
Kevin, what is the name of the wrench company?
Your an excellent teacher. Kevin!...........do you all get to nh. For instruction?
Soon, coming to SIG, I think
Awesome
I REALLY want a Solid all around .556 rifle & a nice harder hitting .308 AR10.

They are anti-material
Think radar dish
They are being replaced by the Barrett MRAD the .338 NM is the new anti-material round
Thank you Mr. Owens, and never ever vote Democrat!
Can you do an eotech with 3x next it’s what I have would love to hear you’re take
It’s in the queue 🫡
Why are more sniper rifles chambered in .308 and not 30-06?
Curious, why do you consider the NF ATACR to be the best option on the market? Compared to, say, the zero compromise?

I’ve heard the 6.5 cm in a gas gun can burn out barrels quickly. Is this a real concern for a sass? Or internet lore?
