    I just left Katy (Houston) 3 weeks ago to relocate back to Orlando to buy my food trailer and to grow my business. Orlando is easier and more supportive than Texas regarding food trucks and trailers. I subbed to you from this channel but my business is on my dobeverage channel. I'm glad I came back to Orlando to grow my business.

    Great info, what about sales tax do mobile good units need a sales tax permit?

    • @foodtruckfreeks

      Sales tax regulations can vary significantly from one location to another, and they are subject to change over time. Whether mobile food units need a sales tax permit depends on the specific laws and regulations of the jurisdiction in which they operate. In most cases, businesses that sell taxable goods or services are required to obtain a sales tax permit from the relevant taxing authority, which could be at the state, county, or municipal level.
      Here are some general guidelines:
      State Sales Tax: In the United States, each state has its own sales tax laws and regulations. Many states require businesses, including mobile food units, to obtain a state sales tax permit if they are selling taxable goods or services. Mobile food units typically sell prepared food, which is often subject to sales tax.
      Local Sales Tax: In addition to state sales tax, some counties or municipalities may have their own local sales tax requirements. Mobile food units operating within those areas may need to obtain additional permits or licenses to collect and remit local sales tax.
      Exemptions: Some states offer exemptions or reduced tax rates for certain types of food items or food sold for off-premises consumption. The specific rules can vary by state.
      Temporary Events: If the mobile food unit participates in temporary events such as festivals, fairs, or farmers' markets, there may be special rules or permits required for those events.
      Online Sales: If you also sell food items online, you may need to consider the sales tax implications of e-commerce sales, as this can be subject to different rules.
      To determine whether your mobile food unit needs a sales tax permit and to understand the specific requirements, it's essential to contact the relevant taxing authority in your jurisdiction. They can provide you with the most up-to-date information and guidance on how to comply with sales tax regulations. Ignoring sales tax requirements can lead to penalties and legal issues, so it's crucial to ensure compliance. Additionally, consulting with a tax professional or accountant who specializes in small businesses can be beneficial in navigating sales tax obligations.

    Do you know if commissary visits are cheaper if you dont park there overnight. Just use it for waste water and grease trap? Please help!!

    • @foodtruckfreeks
      @foodtruckfreeks  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello yes it "could" be but it will depend on the regulations specific to your city or county. Many food trucks MUST stay there over night and require you be "attached" to one, but yes your right it could be cheaper if just for ending your day and NOT parking. all teh best!

    This video is so helpful, thank you! I am trying to figure out if food trailers have the same requirements. Especially for the 6 months of insurance requirement. Do you know?

    • @foodtruckfreeks

      when it comes to permiting and licensing these are very similar BUT trailers may need also additional tags or registrations as a "trailer" unit. in Dallas check also with DMV for tags and licensing
