- I take the most iconic tech logo designs of all time and animate them in 3 styles from the past. A Y2K Style from the late 90s, and retro 70s/80s analog CRT VHS style, and a 60s Psychedelic style using a strata cut stopmotion technique. while teaching my favorite motion graphics techniques. I use Procreate Dreams, After Effects, and Plastecine to bring them to life.

Somewhere around the middle of the first one I started feeling grumpy about how digital it was, when you bought out the actual TV I pumped my fist in the air, and when you broke out the freaking _plasticine_ I was all just like sickos.jpg. There's still just something so satisfying and impossible to replicate about analog media. Nicely done sir
Haha, thanks so much! Yes, I love getting my hands dirty and combining the two. It taught me so much about what subtle things are missing when it's all created in the computer. :)
@@BenMarriott ❤
Dude! I'm from Germany and BABYLON BERLIN's opening bothered me so much, you pointed out what I as thinking everytime I watched it. It's an incredible title sequence, especially for a german show, so I'm still happy we have that, but that weird zoom in the end is so wrong! :D Thank you for pointing that out!!
Haha, I thought I was such a pedant putting in that section. I know it won't affect 99.99999% of those watching but your comment let me know I'm not alone.
the last one is my fav! so dope
Very dope of you to comment ☺️ thank you
The second is my favorite! Love your work :D
Outrageous choice! I coukdnt stop looking at the close up phosphor dots in the CRT. Had to give them an extended moment
you put so much love into these videos and it shows.
i get the sense at some point around when you dropped the butt bat intro that you said, "okay, forget what has been done, how can i simplify and distill these video to deliver the highest value at every moment?"
Dude, I have huge respect for your work. It's an absolute masterpiece of a video.
My word, thank you for such a kind comment!
Wow. All of them looks great! In that third animation, it was a pure example of using the right references, understanding them, and using them in a right way for me. You're a great artist and storyteller. Thanks a lot for sharing your workflow with us.
I loved the CRT one! ❤ Amazing works as always!
Style 2 was beautiful. The CRT dots really brought it together.
The psychedelic one turned out amazing
Massive appreciation for these videos, particularly the parts when you show that you don't always get to your desired result immediately and that the spirit of experimentation and iteration is key to getting across the finish line.
This video is INCREDIBLE Ben! Absolutely love the amount of effort and use of different mediums. Entertaining yet informative with some great tips throughout!
They’re all so good! All the effects brings it together so well! 🔥
I'm just so happy for seeing your videos. This one in particular really kept me hooked exactly for the problem solving matters and the way you handled just made my day. Thank you once again for the stupid amount of inspiration
Amazing work! Love seeing how fun the design process can be, and really admire your focus on stepping away from the computer for part of the process, you can really feel the difference
the psychedelic one is SICKKK!! love that
legend. Also second one is my fav. Love that it's so stylish and authentic, yet so simple to make.
Always look forward to your videos! Great to see such different styles to most motion graphics!
I LIVE for this series, please continue making it!
Holy heck this video! You nailed it. Absolutely love the merging of analog animation with after effects. Big ol' JOB WELL DONE, BEN!
loved the retro CRT look
The lightning port goes deep my friend...thanks for being our guide! 🎉
my favorite motion designer of all time
Not just the animations are amazing, also the writing and editing of the video itself. Love the transitions and the music!
Dude, this is hilarious and ridiculously well edited/paced. The humour hit! I laughed pretty good at "not gonna pay any taxes.”
Well done and thank you.
Just Amazing! Thanks so much to share your creative process!
I WAS TORNED why i laugh so much xD
I absolutely love the combination of analog and digital effects you gave these logos animations!
Getting the notification of a new Ben Marriot's video always bightens my day/week!
I think I like the second one better because I am a sucker for CRT.
Thank you Ben for making learning about so many things other than animation so enjoyable you are by far one of the most inspiring people in this platform.
those linear keyframes had me in horror at first but it works so well for the style! legend.
One of my favorites from you! Please more of these fun techniques & styles
GLORIOUS! This made me smile so much
shout out jack Harrison man! I was so happy you went down that nostalgic path
Dude I hope you're aware of how much of a genius you are. Truly masterful.
This is epic! The last and second to last are so cool! Love your work
I’m always a fan of a good liquidy hand-drawn blob. Also a 90’s baby. #1 gets my vote!
The last one Ben! Given the amount of turns and the way all the learning process lead to the result, it was my absolute fav. Mixed arts for the win!
Absolutely love all of them I can’t choose
second one is so beautiful
I didn't want this video to end. Awesome video. I like them all. If I had to pick one, it would be the first.
Wonderful practical solutions Ben. There's no question for mine. The muted tones of the psychadelic plasticene marble cake was not only the most creative approach - but also the most visually interesting. Great stuff. Your channel and work always impresses.
I've missed your videos, but it's been worth the wait! Absolutely stellar work as always. There is something about the way you go through your process (and your humor) that makes it feel like I'm in the room with a friend while they show me their cool work. 😘👌
These were sooo cool and inspiring to watch!! 😊
This video was so fun to watch, I absolutely enjoyed every last bit of it. I bet you had more fun making this video, this idea in itself is so refreshing, it makes you appreciate the journey of where we came from, what we got and where we are headed. Thank you for this Ben 🙌
Btw I loved the second logo most, retro aesthetics really are so captivating.
I love this animating-logos format, it's entertaining and educative, and the results are always super cool! Also I love that you introduce more and more "real"/analog stuff in the process
the second one is perfection ♥♥♥
Love all 3 but no2 gave me that warm fuzzy feeling, completely nailed the look of tech from my childhood. Another amazing video Ben, so much love and care, and just a joy to watch and be inspired by.
Incredible as always, your work is art Ben
Great Execution Ben!!!Loved It!😍👏
13:45 well said. I like that analysis
i may have started cheering when you mentioned strata cutting HELL Y E A H
Your videos never cease to make me smile. Cheers mate!
Second and third blowed my mind. Thank you for showing us your experiments, its inspiring and definitely demanded nowadays
I could just feel the TLC you put into each explorations. ✨ It was fun and insightful seeing your progress in achieving each art style! I love the second one. But the last one was a TRIP! I was cheering you on with each addition and milestones you made with it. Felt like i was making it with you haha
When you said your project files are available for download my jaw dropped. You are the absolute besttt! 😭 Can’t wait to play around with it. Cheers, Ben! ❤
so much effort love it
Bruh you put way too much effort into this and I absolutely love it
😂Loved this episode. Apart from that, I was 17 when that iMac ad came out and it was SO breakthrough. I still think is great. She comes is colors everywhere🎶
My favorite by far is the old Tv those extra glows around the aperture grille hits different, right into the 90s
wonderful experiment, great art! thanks for the inspiration!
Loved this!
the plasticine slicing animation idea is so cool! love how you applied that
Very impressed by your creativity !
Love the CRT one. It's just so tactile
I'm always happy to see your videos and the huge effort you put inside them. You make learning so easy and fun :)
My friend, another great one for the books! That second one was my personal fave, but the techniques on all of them were great! Thanks for making them!
The second one reminds me of a project I did for work. We were doing a different decade theme every month for our social media content and when I got to the 70's I went with a CRT style. But, being a neurotic perfectionist, just adding some scan lines etc wasn't enough. I remembered watching a video on Technology Connections about how those TVs actually worked. I went down the rabbit hole and built up an overlay for the video that actually mimicked how the phosphor dots displayed color. Took a week of my own extra time to make it, but worth it. Now I need to find that project file so I can try and convert it to a template.
I've always dreamed about making a project just like this! Thanks!!!
These are all so awesome
Gracias Dude! se aprecia el proceso, más allá de la técnica y formación didáctica en tu canal. El compromiso por mantener vigente esa curiosidad, seguir experimentando y compartiendo tus resultados son inspiradores.
Your videos show how much DIY-able many so cool looking things are!
This video is so underrated man. You have mad skill
ahhh nothing more good than a chill day with some pop corn in my hand and watching the video till the end.
This is the officially recognised viewing experience!
Brilliant.
Danngggg, that's pretty sick ben🎉
I've never had so much fun watching a tutorial man, you're the best
somehow you are able to achieve a new look for 100000 done visuals. The best!
Second and third one is really great!!
Also liked the blob too
Keep it up ben
such a great video, so funny too. nice work man!
Incredible! I cant even choose
you're the art teacher we need!
taking the inspo from the lava lamp to get the bite snapping into motion is brilliant
you're just too good at this 👏🏻
Awesome video! I am considering getting into professional video editing/motion graphics, and this video was really inspiring. You just gained a subscriber!
I love your subtle tech commentary in between your motion design videos. Keep it going.
I believe that as creatives, despite being eaten by the heavily homogenous industry, and the software and hardware we all use. It's important we don't all lose that ability to criticize and make commentary in our art. Especially that Motion design as a practice is so digitized, productized and corporized these days.
If you'll ever create a separate TH-cam channel that intersects tech, design and overt industry commentary, whether in a form of a video essay or podcast. I would subscribe to it
another banger the clay one was rad!
Outstanding!
The last one was amazing.
Wow, always so much to learn from your stuff! And so much great homor thru here too.
Absolutely loved all these and showing your motivations from dift years.
The first logo design was kinda all i wanted from ae when i first started. Lava lamp style visuals with music visualization by maybe making the blob bounce. Must come back to it, & getting the light just right 👌
Loved the transition from 2 to 3 too and crazy techniques on the third. Such an artist, nice one as always 👏
Thanks so much! Applying all that shading on number 1 was very rewarding seeing it get all glossy after working with it in grey for so long.
@@BenMarriott i bet, was super satisfying to see the end result & can only imagine it'd be that much more satisfying to actually do ✌️❤️
You are genius, man. Keep it up good work. What you do is really impressive, you became my inspiration.
Ben, no3 my fav! There is so much in it, very artistic (99 AE youtube channels lack), but still you have kept it minimal. You nailed the colours! Cheers mate!
All this work is beautiful, Ben! The dedication to experimentation was inspiring. Literally getting your hands dirty with it.
Stay Bentastic, good sir! Honored to continue to be able to enjoy your content.
-The Other Ben
Ben!!! You legend!!!
Damn ! It's Hard To Choose Between These Master Pieces Love THem All !
so cool the psycho one
this is so good
Ah man I was all excited to learn how to do that crisp CRT effect. Didn't expect the answer to be "buy a CRT" lol
Just Looking like a wow!
Great video! I'd love to have my logo animated like this, especially if I could learn to do it myself. Thanks for the insight.
Jack Harrison is the CRT master!
your videos are so great, i recommend you to anyone that wants to learn after effects
