TLDR: Bitcoin layer 1's current settings are perfectly fine, sorry Elon. Regarding layer 1 blockchain scaling, the limitation isn't just bandwidth, it is the speed of light, processor speed and data storage. The price of storing large amounts of data very quickly has seen an increase in price over the past 10 years, even though bandwidth and processing speed and power have been coming down. It takes about 0.13 seconds for just light to go around the world, so to transmit data around the world (round trip) is always going to be higher than that. And this is just sending the data, not even verifying it (which every full node does every 10 minutes). If we are to have a globally agreed on ledger of transactions, then we have to know about this limitation and account for it.
Not looking so rosy today. Bitcoin down a little from when this was recorded a year ago, and down more than 50% since it hit a high. Bitcoin is an interesting concept, but the tax problems are too difficult for most people to make it useful, And the energy expenditure is a disaster for the environment.
