In manual mode I was seeing them go out of view at about 15-20 degrees. I normally fly at 30° and they are completely gone. BUT you can always rock the GoPro for slow stuff which is what most people will likely do anyway.
I recommend checking the DJI/Avata Facebook groups and asking around. I'm sure someone is doing it. I used to offer the motor upgrade service on a case by case but lately I've just been crazy busy with normal day to day stuff. 🫤
Hello, I want to buy the kit for my AVATA, but I’m from Brazil, I have a little difficulty translating the lines, but I read better with the writing. How was the USB input and the SD input? Was it worth the modification? Can you answer me here?
I believe the upgrade was worth it. That's because my style of flying is more aggressive. You have to install the SD card before hand and leave it in there. It is impossible to remove after the upgrade unless you take the ducts off. You get a USB cable that extends the USB-C jack out to the base of the quad. It's much easier to access and that is how you get your video files off the SD card. I recommend pre-installing a 128g or 256g SD card.
@@MurdersFPV Thanks for the reply. How did the frame look in normal mode with the camera at 0° angle? Does it appear or just to be in a position below 0°?
@@mathFPV you see the frame almost 100% of the time in Normal mode flight. It's there even in Sport mode though it does go out of the screen a bit when going as fast as you can in a straight line.
So both Sports and Normal mode the speed is governed by GPS. So it will only let you go so fast. You'll need to fly in manual mode to take advantage of the additional speed.
Looking for a fpv drone that is not so loud and can carry a GoPro. Any ideas? Curious why you would use a go pro? I thought the avata had a good camera system.
All the footage in this video is right off the Avata's camera system. I personally think it looks great too but for "professional grade" work it isn't as easy to manipulate the footage and it does lack dynamic range compared to a GoPro. In terms of loudness, the only way to combat that with an FPV drone is to use different props. I've been experimenting with some different props on the Avata and I'll likely make a video on it soon. Anything that is powerful enough to carry a GoPro is going to be loud, unfortunately. 🫤
@@MurdersFPV appreciate the response. Definitely a tough decision with so many options out there. What would you recommend if not an avata that would still easily hook up to the DJI googles and controller and would hold a full sized GoPro? Or would it be better just to strap a GoPro to the avata? Seen that a bit on TH-cam. I’ve heard you really can’t do dives with the avata. Is that true? I am not looking to do crazy stunts. Just want to be able to make some really cool cimamatic videos wit the fpv look.
@@adventuresofjandk pretty much any drone with a DJI Air Unit would be easy to setup with the controller and goggles. There are several bind and fly drones out there that have DJI FPV systems built in. The Avata can dive better with this upgrade but not while carrying a GoPro. I'm not really a fan of a full size GoPro on any cinewhoop style drone. I use the GoPro Hero 10 Bones on the GepRc Cinelog35 which is a pretty great drone. If I were going to carry a full size GoPro I'd use it on a 5" or higher.
Man, your flying is insane! So I have a question. I'm a total newb at FPV. I've only flown the DJI M4P but I'm ready to go to the next level. I was planning on purchasing the Avata 2. Should I go that route or buy a more capable FPV? I like how the A2 allows the total beginner to fly FPV then gradually go manual. Thoughts?
With FPV the concept is performance not efficiency. If you want 15+ minutes of flight you can fly slow and steady but if you want to feel like a jet pilot you're going to burn through a battery in 5-7 minutes.
Well done. Thank you for this. If after the upgrade, the Avata isn’t as good as desired, is it possible to remove and use on a build the 03 AU and camera? Was there an appreciable difference in volume or pitch?
I don't know about being able to use the O3 in a different build. The camera is wider so finding a frame to fit it would be weird. There is the same connector there as the O3 unit that plugs into the AIO. I'd be curious to see if it's possible or even how the RID functions. If it's part of the Avata O3 system then it may not function without a GPS unit and your cellphone.
They are sticks that came from the Radio Master AG01 gimbal upgrade and I used a DJI Remote Control 2 stick upgrade that I found on Amazon. It has a removable top that allows you to use any M4 sticks you want. www.amazon.com/dp/B08ZCKC2R7?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Hey looking for advice here. I’m new to drones and I’m torn between building my own Quadmula 3” frame or starting on the DJI Avata and eventually getting this kit. I do have an electronic background so hopefully I will not struggle that much with either approach. Btw I love your videos man!
That's a tough one. Honestly the Quadmula Siren F3 is my favorite drone. I beat the crap out of it and it is still going strong. I think the Avata is a great beginner drone and if your goal is to have something that you can rip a little bit as well as get some GoPro shots the Avata with the upgrade is pretty great.
Would you say that just the engine upgrade is worth it to a casual flyer? I've been watching videos for a few weeks and im looking to bumb up the agility a tad and not totally kill the battery performance.
I think so. Just the motor upgrade alone makes this drone fly much better in my opinion and it's worth the reduction in flight time. My answer is to just buy more batteries. I know that is an expensive way to think about it but that's just the facts of the hobby.
@@MurdersFPV I have 10 batteries, so basically no issue there. Lol I'll have to look into it, wonder if I can pay someone to install the motors, I have ZERO experience in that area.

I have question in the Avata to Axisflying3.5. Is your internal storage working for you when you connect using usb-c port? is it showing in you computer? Mine is not showing in my computer the internal storage
No. Stick a large SD in the unit before you put the prop guards on. There is a USB-C to USB-C that installs on the underside of the drone. That's how you gain access to removing your video files or updating your O3 AU
Great review and great flying video at the end. Did you get any motor overload errors pop up during your test flights? I noticed it pops up for me when I do heavy throttle and power loops.
@MurdersFPV same for me.. I think since it has a different KV motor with bigger props. The ESC still thinks it's the stock motor with stock props and senses it has a lot more load. I am just gonna disregard that error and keep flying it.

Wet the grommets and frame with liquid soap for lubrication, works a treat.
Great advice, thank you!
What sticks are those for the controller? I have the iFlight Commando 8 remote and it uses the same dumb way of threading sticks in.
The sticks came off the AG01 gimbals for the Radiomaster TX16s Max. I made them work using the bottom half of a stick upgrade I got for the Controller 2 off Amazon.
@@MurdersFPV I figured they would be some mish mash of pieces. I’ve got an m2 screw through a 3D print going right now.
Thanks for the reply !
Hard to believe the bando flying was an avata 😂
Hey Nicholas! Should i choose axis flying kit frame or just upgrade motors (kinda like how original frame looks like)? Really wanna now your opinion. 🙏
@mebeldude just the motor upgrade alone is a nice upgrade, and it's much easier to do.
Hi, where did you get those stick? looks soo nice.( I'm sorry if you already mentioned in your old videos.)
Awesomeee !! Can you tell me your PID ?
I made the modifications to my avata, but when trying to fly it doesn't take off, I think it's because I don't know how to put the ellipses correctly, any suggestions?
Check all of your solder joints.
@@MurdersFPV all it's okay
Is there anybody that actually will do the upgrade for you? Seems like there were someone that was doing it on the motor upgrade
It's not something I advertised but I did about 6-8 motor upgrades for subscribers. It's just really dependent on if I had time. You may be able to in the DJI FPV/Avata Facebook group.
i got mine done and seem to get a lot of motor overload messages. do you get that on yours?
Occasionally when I'm doing a power loop or something. I've never had it wig out on me and the motors are not too hot when I land. I'm not worried about it, personally.
@@MurdersFPV maybe I need to push mine less. Mine fell out of the sky. Just stopped the props without warning
@@orozcocris93 hmmm something maybe wrong. I push mine pretty hard and it shouldn't do that. Perhaps there was some damage to the AIO during installation.
@@MurdersFPV i dont think there would be. i glued the wires that connect the battery with uv electronic adhesive paste and i cut the motor wires like axis flying specified. figured i better be safe than sorry. tested the connections before installing the battery to make sure nothing was shorting with the volt meter. i honestly couldnt pinpoint why it is doing it
@@orozcocris93 glued? You mean soldered?
Thanks for this amazing video!
And what is your opinion about complete 3.5 upgrade vs just axis flying motors upgrade ?
I absolutely love the way the Avata flies and handles with the full upgrade. For me, this is what the Avata should have been.
@@MurdersFPV thank you very much 😊
Looking forward to getting this upgrade in a year or so and whipping my drone into the side of a tree!
Crazy man! Really cool 👍👍👍
On the fence about this upgrade. What's the minimum camera angle before the guards come into view? Awsome flying.
In manual mode I was seeing them go out of view at about 15-20 degrees. I normally fly at 30° and they are completely gone. BUT you can always rock the GoPro for slow stuff which is what most people will likely do anyway.
@@MurdersFPV OK good info, thanks. I have a GoPro 9, interested how it would handle the extra weight.
@@MurdersFPV I fly at 25° nornally.
@@craigdavo oh you'll be fine
I would like to send you a custom avata upper frame, is there a way we can do that?
I enjoyed watching this great video. Thank you 👍
Looking for tech shop who will mod the Avata. Is there anyone doing this ?
It's there even in Sport mode though it does go out of the screen a bit when going as fast as you can in a straight line.
eis off and wide field of view hows the prop guard? does is show in the camera?
Not at 30 degrees in Manual mode.
Спасибо за контент 🙏
Пилотаж и подача материала - на высоте !
Does this fix the tumble issue with the avata 100%? Best way to tell is to do a juicy flick from my experience which I didn’t see in this video
It does. 100%
Axisflying DJI AVATA 3.5" in sport mode (not manual) gives more speed?
Thoughts?
Do you have any soldering skills? If so, I'd recommend building your own.
@@MurdersFPV I do. I used to race 1/10 scale off road buggies.
They don't have battery that can fly at least 15 min? That seemed very short
With FPV the concept is performance not efficiency. If you want 15+ minutes of flight you can fly slow and steady but if you want to feel like a jet pilot you're going to burn through a battery in 5-7 minutes.
Amazing video 👏🏼 Great overview and review, and an excellent creative freestyle at the end. Thank you
do you think i could send dji my avata and the 3.5 kit and they’d install it for me? curious to know if that’s possible.
No😂
Ur amazing pilot murderfpv . Wow! Great music choice as well . Always u rock brother! 🤟🤟🤟
Hey nice video. I like the gimbal stick ends for DJI remote where did u get that?
They are sticks that came from the Radio Master AG01 gimbal upgrade and I used a DJI Remote Control 2 stick upgrade that I found on Amazon. It has a removable top that allows you to use any M4 sticks you want.

Stunning flying! Thank you. I'm subbing. Greetings from Montreal, Canada.
Great video as always my dude
thank you -- great information and incredible flying. Subbed!
Great video! Was it also quieter after the upgrade?
@@MurdersFPV thanks man! I think I’ll start on the Quadmula Siren F3 then.
Just started this hobby and love thanks for the great information and amazing flying!!🔥
What would you say the top speed is now with the upgrade. Cheers man
Would you say that just the engine upgrade is worth it to a casual flyer? I've been watching videos for a few weeks and im looking to bumb up the agility a tad and not totally kill the battery performance.
I think so. Just the motor upgrade alone makes this drone fly much better in my opinion and it's worth the reduction in flight time. My answer is to just buy more batteries. I know that is an expensive way to think about it but that's just the facts of the hobby.
@@MurdersFPV I have 10 batteries, so basically no issue there. Lol I'll have to look into it, wonder if I can pay someone to install the motors, I have ZERO experience in that area.
Hi bro.. i just completed my avata convertion did you experienced random "motor overload" warning on punchout and sharp manuever?
Eh, sometimes but it never seems to have any serious affect or loss of control. Just a brief warning.
@@MurdersFPV same situation I didnt experienced any bad behavior or any hot motor.. thanks for the feedback i thought im the only one experienced this warning
Do you have a link for the replacement propeller guard?
Not yet. They aren't available yet on their own. Axis said they'd let me know when they are.
Thanks for sharing! Can I send it to them to get it done?
Your best bet is to go to the DJI FPV/Avata Facebook groups and ask if anyone is willing to do it for you.
@@MurdersFPV Got you! Thanks man🙌🏻
Does the motor overload warning appear?
I did get it to pop up a couple of times but that was during some pretty big powerloops or coming out of steep dives. Basically extended full throttle stuff.
@@MurdersFPV but is it safe for the esc if the motor is often overloaded?
@@agamlistiyanto4515 I haven't seen any adverse effects and I've been really trying to push it.
@@MurdersFPV but my avatar 3.5 when playing manual freestyle for 6 minutes then I landed, the battery was so hot that an error battery warning appeared. is there something wrong with my avata?..
@@agamlistiyanto4515 could be something wrong with the battery leads. They include those larger gauge wires for the battery lead in the kit. You need those thicker wires to handle the current draw.
I have question in the Avata to Axisflying3.5. Is your internal storage working for you when you connect using usb-c port? is it showing in you computer? Mine is not showing in my computer the internal storage
Mine is working as intended. I would double check to see if you've soldered the connection correctly.
@@MurdersFPV thank you
what was the flight time like after doing this upgrade?
I am actually getting cruising flights of about 8-10 minutes now which is a big difference from the previous Axisflying motor upgrade.

Lots and lots of practice. And crashing, lots of crashing.

Thank you so much sir. You really inspired me. Im new to FPV drone and want to upgrade my Avata using this axisflying kit @@MurdersFPV
how about a battery that last longer than 18 min. all this technology and they can't make a bigger mah battery?
can you still access the sdcard slot after the mod?
No. Stick a large SD in the unit before you put the prop guards on. There is a USB-C to USB-C that installs on the underside of the drone. That's how you gain access to removing your video files or updating your O3 AU
Might have to do this to my avata 👀 good video!
Great review and great flying video at the end. Did you get any motor overload errors pop up during your test flights? I noticed it pops up for me when I do heavy throttle and power loops.
I have just a few times. It doesn't seem to have had any real effect.
@MurdersFPV same for me.. I think since it has a different KV motor with bigger props. The ESC still thinks it's the stock motor with stock props and senses it has a lot more load. I am just gonna disregard that error and keep flying it.
I really liked the video, you are an excellent pilot! , new subscriber here, I just ordered the kit, a small question, did you use dji stabilizers? Or in jyroflow?, thanks 😎
Is it any quieter??
Yes much better
This place is great for flying FPV.
Very cool upgrade! You know what I'm after. How did it feel with the Hero on it's back?
It carries it very easily. You may not want to fling it around all crazy but it definitely cruises around smoothly.
Great video and flying as always! I managed to get my gummys in and out a few times. But I have now broken one after chipping the lens and having to fit the 03 camera module (dji won't sell me a camera)!
Love the idea you come up with for the Gummy mounting tho! BTW those ducts are strong!
Yeah the ducts turned out to be a lot stronger than I thought they would be.
@MurdersFPV same ha. There are some disadvantages to this kit with regards to the camera and ducts in view. But it makes it a very good cinematic whoop whilst keeping the dji features no other whoop has. Not for everyone... but I love it!
where is the micro sd card slot?
It’s in the drone you can’t access it anymore but you can transfer files with the usbc of the drone so just leave the sd card in it
