I'm buying a sewing machine after watching all these. I just want to learn to sew even if it's not as good as these. Update: I bought the cheap little one but the stitching keeps coming out and other problems... Fabric scraps are so cheap though. I found a bundle for a dollar.
You should do a giveaway of thrifted transformations! like the winner could send you waist/bust/etc measurements or just something like this (a wrap dress) that may not need exact measurements but something easily altered or tied to fit slightly bigger/smaller than the measurements sent in! just a cool idea to get a "one of a kind" piece of clothing from a favorite youtuber. Love your work, inspires me to venture into other career options that I haven't considered before!
Honey Alyssa But whoever gave this dress up clearly doesn't have the skills, patience and the creativity she has. If it was me I'd be happy that my trash has become someone's gem, and especially this gorgeous
I'm 63, and just about to embark on sewing up some new pieces for my wardrobe! Now that I've found your great videos, I can re-think some older items! THANKS!
+Karis Garra ugh, I know right? just watching the part where she's trying to decide on what and how to create the top part and I'm here thinking "I give up" already HahaHaha
I'm currently making this dress with fabric from a beautiful butterfly print dress that's too big for me, your videos are so easy to follow. You're actually my biggest inspiration to start sewing and design. Thanks 😊❤️
You are a genius! I have been a seamstress from the age of 7. I watched your blogs for the first time today. Oh yeah, I subscribed. You have to make a business out of your creativity. You make one of a kind garments with brilliance, and style! The world is your oyster!! OMG!!!
I loved the original design of the dress ( well the upper half / back less back) it's so 2001! But yours such an amazing crafter I'm so indecisive about both designs, idk what I love more!
I've learned so much from just watching your videos. My parents got me a sewing machine last christmas and people have given me scrap fabric over the years but I've never had a clue how to use them but since I've started watching your videos I've started to understand what I need to do to make things the right way. Thanks for making these amazing videos. Keep doing what your doing. It's amazing.
Really don't understand the dislikes, this was deffo one of the best transformations yet. You just gave me an idea to do something similar for a really pretty old dress that needs a revamp! xx
my favorite one by far...been thrifting for 36 years and am so happy and proud to see such wonderful person keeping this passion alive and current.....you are awesome
YES! I was wanting to make a canvas backpack like fjallraven kraken for school! She made a backpack tutorial already but it was red suede and leather. PLEASE APRIL.
You have to be impressed by such creativity and talent. And she’s beautiful enough to show off the finished dress to advantage. I wish I had her skills (and her looks!).
I have always liked wrap-a-rounds and she brings up to a runway level and above. I especially like the fabric crossing in the right places and an excellent belt.
Jeepers, I used to think I could sew, 😁 but you are on a level I never could have dreamed of! I wish for you all the success you could want because you have 1. vision-you can see the end result before you start 2. talent-you can put to paper and needle that vision 3. technical know how-you can't just see the end result you have the ability to make it real. I'm in awe of you! Well done and keep planning and sewing! 💖💖💖
Wow April.....you are amazing. Could watch your transformations all day. Hope you start your own business you are VERY talented. I use super glue to hem things!! I really loved this dress on you....very pretty.
+Sara Law goodwill has days where they have clothes for $1, I pick up things and sew according to my body and if I mess it up well it was cheap so it doesn't matter much, plus it's the experience you get. .also..make sure to check at thrift stores and Craigslist and yard sales for sewing machines. .you can get a decent one cheap!!
+amber xai what do you mean they are shutting down? as in closing because it's late? or closing down in business? lol if it's the first one well yea, I left the message way in the morning. .if it's the second one I'll cry lol
Instantly subscribed at 5 seconds in, I'm not much of a seamstress (just a little bit better that 'two left hands') but I love seeing others create things. And the smart thinking of using the lining to create the back is genius.
Dude i dont even have interest in transforming any clothes or learning how to, but just the fact that you can do it so perfectly and smoothly is addictive to me, its so satisfying!! Youre talented!
I used to make my own clothes but its so much hard work! I loved working with scratch material and not really having a plan in mind just to see what I would come up with. I don't have the time now since I'm married and have two kids but I used to really enjoy sewing. You are very talented, good job!
could you do a video on thrifted transformation-preparations/preparations for sowing projects in general? a video summarazing the steps you need to go through or a video on tips and things to think about before and during such a project?
I love your channel. I’ve always wanted to do this kind of works since I was in grade school, but I don’t know how to sew in a machine or how to start a project. You’ve inspired me to love my childhood dream again. You’re such a talented angel. God bless you and more power.
You are an incredibly talented girl April. I always enjoy watching your videos. I enjoy for many reasons. First and foremost for your creativity and talent, additionally, because you transform older used garments into something new rather than buying new clothes. We have SO much waste. I saw a documentary on just the amount of waste from clothing gone trash that alone that fills our beautiful world. I am so amazed with your transformations. I was impressed with your videos from the first one that I saw. You turned clothing that was outdated, and So large on you. As the garment it was, it was not flattering at all. By the time you were done with it, it looked a garment that someone would pay high end for a custom made article of clothing that was modern yet look as if it could still stand the test of time. Now when a your videos from the start, I can't wait to see what you're going to do with it. Who doesn't love a good Before and After!?! :-)
This is wonderful! I think this is one of my favorite transformations. I would adore doing this with a dress I recently bought that is much bigger than my size as well. It actually even has a full back. Skills I do not yet possess. So beautiful!
It was a pleasure to watch this work :). My only critique is "it could be improved a little bit by implementation of more professional techniques (more exact measurements of fabric/design, curved ruler use etc). But love the design and look ^^.
I think the idea is to keep these thrifted transformations cheap. You can't ignore the "cost" of time and effort that goes into making something like this. A dress that takes forever to make is not fun or "cheap" in the end when you add up all the work you had to put into it. Leaving out the exact measurements and precise techniques saves a lot of time and makes sewing a lot more fun, especially if someone enjoys the creative process more than the making. I am fairly sure she is in design school and so probably has plenty of exposure to more accurate techniques.....probably to the point of it being tedious. I would want to "freehand" things in my spare time too.
Fair enough, I didn't realise she was in design school. I know how it is to have to draft patterns all the time for the clothes we make at school. Drafting/pattern making becomes almost second nature/natural. Perfectly understandable that not everyone does everything the same way and to be honest I have my lazy sewing days too ^^. Thanks for the reply :).
Alice Winter Cool :-) I could be wrong about the design school part but she does occasionally (in other videos) mention various bits of sewing equipment she bought (such as a relatively expensive manequin recently) because "they have a class set of these at school" and she makes many references to advanced pattern/sewing techniques she "learned in school" in other videos....I don't think she has graduated yet (but definitely out of highschool based on age).....She may have said "I am in design school" at some point but I can't remember or can't find the video.
thank you for creating these videos. like a lot of people, i suffer from anxiety attacks every now and again. when i'm having anxiety/panic attacks at night, your videos calm me down. so thank you
I've been scrolling throughout the comments, and they mostly are positive, which is by good meaning. You are AMAZING at this, and I enjoy watching all of your videos, which give me ideas that I never would have thought up without the help of your channel!!
I'd really love to see that happen too, but I doubt it will. April makes these for herself, so it wouldn't really make any sense for her to make something for a curvier person.
I think she makes the clothes for herself or on the odd occasion family and things so I think that's why she doesn't, because it wouldn't fit her and we don't know if it would her family either. Just my assumption from her videos. But, by the way she describes things, there are a lot of her videos that can be adapted to fit all body types.
+Annushka The Professional Fangirl and Unicorn exactly. she is so slim that although the clothes arw great they'd be no good on a fuller figure unfortunately
I've always want to do things like this. I love thrifting! I have a few skirts I want to hem and switch up and I have always wanted to take those oversized pinstriped 90s jackets and make them more fitted !! now I think I could thanks to your videos!!
I’m so inspired by you! Our daughter is from China and I want to be able to create items for her like this. She’s very petite and it’s difficult to find clothes that fit her. Thank for showing us how you do this! I’m new to sewing and haven’t made clothes at all. It’s intimidating!
I’m extremely interested in thrift flips and sewing but I can’t use a sewing machine for life’s sake 😂😭 Like I can easily hand sow but that’s so time consuming
I appreciate your boldness in cutting the fabrics and stitching things together, just would like to see straighter lines in your stitching and pressing after each seam. It gives a higher quality finish to your transformations.
I love this style of wrap dress!! It shows a nice amount of leg when just standing normally without having to stick your leg out or have the wind blowing lol 😂😍😍 I need to find some good fabric and make one for my trip to FL instead of buying
I can't sew for toffee but I love watching your videos, I just find it fascinating that someone can create such beautiful clothing from things that don't even fit.

you definitely belong on Project Runway
she can literally open her own dress store and wouldn't even spend a lot of money on fabric!!!!!!
This is a great idea, thank you for sharing!
could you do a diy backpack or backpack thrifting for college or back to school
She has a video for that already lol
YES! I was wanting to make a canvas backpack like fjallraven kraken for school! She made a backpack tutorial already but it was red suede and leather. PLEASE APRIL.
She has one 😊 look back at her past videos.
+Isabella Rose I think she made a second one too with jeans fabric, but I think that video is a little bit older
+Isabella Rose she also made a backpack with jeans :)
"Let's see what we can do." Naw, we'll watch and see what YOU can do, and applaud.
Just lovely, looked complicated I won't lie but the finished dress is so cute. Clever you!
never gonna make anything like this because i suck at sewing but i love your videos. They satisfy me
Jeepers, I used to think I could sew, 😁 but you are on a level I never could have dreamed of! I wish for you all the success you could want because you have

I love this series so much!! I want to go to Goodwill and try this out so bad but I don't have a sewing machine >.
+iamhia I'd love to but I'm scared I'd mess it up...
+iamhia yeah, I suppose I could try that out ^^
+Sara Law goodwill has days where they have clothes for $1, I pick up things and sew according to my body and if I mess it up well it was cheap so it doesn't matter much, plus it's the experience you get. .also..make sure to check at thrift stores and Craigslist and yard sales for sewing machines. .you can get a decent one cheap!!
Goodwill are already shutting down
+amber xai what do you mean they are shutting down? as in closing because it's late? or closing down in business? lol if it's the first one well yea, I left the message way in the morning. .if it's the second one I'll cry lol

Ever thought of getting a dress form? I love mine. Helps make clothes exactly your size.
She has one
Why doesn't she use it? lol
+Cassie Stevens lol she does sometimes. I don't know if it's her exact measurements
I see her using a mannequin, not a dress form.
+Cassie Stevens ah okay
Dude i dont even have interest in transforming any clothes or learning how to, but just the fact that you can do it so perfectly and smoothly is addictive to me, its so satisfying!! Youre talented!

Well I have no talent so I can't do something like that
practice
i feel ya
i feel you
Same but i wont give up i started learning how to saw then i will learn how to use the fabric properly
You don't need talent. You need a sewing machine and the motivation to learn. There's tons of tutorials out there to help you.
Omg that kind of dress you would have to buy for $50+!!
I love your channel. I’ve always wanted to do this kind of works since I was in grade school, but I don’t know how to sew in a machine or how to start a project. You’ve inspired me to love my childhood dream again. You’re such a talented angel. God bless you and more power.

You should sell some!! I would totally buy it because me & diy don't match :/
tiff t the alterations are made for her specifically, it, might be a little bit difficult to take in specific custom requests.
she looks like Michelle Phan on the thumbnail!
I agree. I've always thought she looks like a younger Michelle Phan like before all the massive fame.
Sooo Asian??
really? i dont see it, but she does kind of have similar facial features to Jenn Im (clothesencounters) ☺
+Luna Kumori Omg true! She does look Jenn!
+The jams are safe with me look like*
wow, the dress turned out amazing!! so boho!
I need just a small portion of April's creativity and talent. This is just the most amazing channel
This is wonderful! I think this is one of my favorite transformations. I would adore doing this with a dress I recently bought that is much bigger than my size as well. It actually even has a full back. Skills I do not yet possess. So beautiful!
You are SO talented!!!! Please be the next Coco Chanel/Christian Dior/Gianni Versace!!!!!! YOU CAN DO IT GIRL! MAKE YO MAMA PROUD
Please is unwanted and very very annoying remember that

Also that fabric is see-through and even showing how to line the dress would be beneficial.
The clothes she transform are better than clothing from stores. I'm sure if she opened a clothing line people would definitely buy
Wow - this dress was gorgeous before, but your transformation just made it so stunning. WELL DONE.
thank you for creating these videos. like a lot of people, i suffer from anxiety attacks every now and again. when i'm having anxiety/panic attacks at night, your videos calm me down. so thank you
I don't even sew and I'm watching this.
me too
same
It’s not hard to learn
Thanks.. i hope it's not hard.. I've got a sewing machine for a few years now.. this week in gonna finally try use it
you're sew talented!
Gina G excellent word play
Gina G I see what you did there 🤣
UNDERRATED 🙋
how did you learn how to sew and alter clothing self taught if so how hard is it to learn? schooling or classes
Marlynn Jordan she went to college for it
I've been scrolling throughout the comments, and they mostly are positive, which is by good meaning. You are AMAZING at this, and I enjoy watching all of your videos, which give me ideas that I never would have thought up without the help of your channel!!
Congratulations !!! You generally use the cloth you find and do everything from the beginning .You are worth a Billion and more !!!
Tbh, I don't know what she means and how she actually does this transformation but watching it slowly form into a dress is mesmerizing...
I want your designs to be in stores. I would totally buy your clothes!
Omg, this is the most beautuful dress I've ever seen 😍😍😍
the amount of creativity, skill, and talent you have is incredible
You are beyond talented! I just started sewing and I get so frustrated!WOW I am in awe of your work!
Anyone here watching this but can't even sew a button perfectly!!
Same here hahaha
could you do something for a fuller figure pls?
She usually makes clothes for her self, so she probably won't because she is very thin
Follow the steps with a thrifted item that fits or is slightly too large for your body...same as April does.
+Annushka The Professional Fangirl and Unicorn exactly. she is so slim that although the clothes arw great they'd be no good on a fuller figure unfortunately
Wow that was amazing please make a sweater dress next!
Gabby P please is not needed wanted or necessary it’s very very annoying remember w
It’s intimidating!
did you go to any kind of school or are you self-taught? either way, you're amazing :)
has to be one of my favorites
this was in my recommended.
wow I wouldn't believe that was the same dress if I didn't watch this.
You are very talented! I agree with others - you could design your own line! You have an impressive number of followers. A great start!
I wish I had found you 50 years ago, love your style, such fun transformations, way to flow!!!
Do a collab with bestdressed!
What does it mean to have a mannequin with a collapsible shoulder?
I'm looking for new mannequins
I’m extremely interested in thrift flips and sewing but I can’t use a sewing machine for life’s sake 😂😭
Like I can easily hand sow but that’s so time consuming
Wow! Im speechless for what im watching. Really amazing how you turn a simple dress to fashion designer dress.
I appreciate your boldness in cutting the fabrics and stitching things together, just would like to see straighter lines in your stitching and pressing after each seam. It gives a higher quality finish to your transformations.
teach me thy ways
That dress definitely needs lining... Unless its just a beach coverup
Unless you wear nude coloured underwear underneath.
Me: I'm gonna make this!
Takes out sewing machine
Me: Nope.
I loved the style of the original dress, but you're transformation is amazing and looks stunning on you!!
Seriously? This is some sort of sorcery! It's gorgeous. Well done.
How the actual fuck.. This is impossible... Wth where do I sign up?
But why would you buy something which is bigger and longer then your actual size??
So that you can sew that at home??
How amazing!!
😊😊😊
Stela Khati if you have more fabric then it gives you more room for alteration.
I got lost when she started cutting into its shape. N then I realized I had to supper skinny like her to have extra pieces leftover
You should check out some videos where she combines two dresses if that's an issue :)
Girl I'm so proud of you. Not only did you save money but u were able to create an even better version of the dress.
That's incredible. I love how you take old clothes and make them new again. Love to see some more and subscribing!
I actually skipped iiSuperwomenii vid to watch ur vid
I love this style of wrap dress!! It shows a nice amount of leg when just standing normally without having to stick your leg out or have the wind blowing lol 😂😍😍 I need to find some good fabric and make one for my trip to FL instead of buying
I can't sew for toffee but I love watching your videos, I just find it fascinating that someone can create such beautiful clothing from things that don't even fit.
I have no words for this. You turned the dress so freaking beautiful, you have talent!
I wish I had half of the talent she has! I just found her and I should be going to bed but I’m addicted to these videos now 😍
