Hello Paul. Thanks for this video. 40-plus years ago, I joined a Morris side and after a while, decided to buy a Melodeon, so that I could join in the after-dance pub sessions. The Hohner Pokerwork box was in G/C, which gave me the keys I needed for singing. The sound of the G/C box is more relaxing and pleasant to listen to and seems to travel well in a large space. Trouble is, I then discovered that most Morris Melodeons are in D/G, which limited my ability to join in things. Having spoken to Accordion and Fiddle players, nobody could tell me why D/G melodeons are the go-to of Morris musicians, nor why most Morris Tunes are written in D and G. Either way, it was a problem. The other problem I have with D/G melodeons, is that I hate the high-pitched sound of the G row; it grates on my ears. The irony is, that most Anglo Concertinas are C/G, so Morris melodeons in D/G defy logic. To coin a well-known phrase, "Ouch! My Brain 'urts". Russ, Hampshire.
