I remember this pattern from the 1970’s. I was a teen then. I never bought it then but seeing how cute you look I MUST make it now! You look adorable. We have similar measurements and I wasn’t sure if it would be flattering on me, but seeing you convinces me it would. ❤
I'm so glad you made this video. I made this pattern months ago and the bathroom situation became an issue the day I wore them in public. Let me tell you something. That tip you gave is now m best friend because I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to get around that "gross" situation. I literally fed the back section back through my legs and gathered up the excess. 😂😂And since it was a cotton fabric you know I left that restroom all wrinkled. 😂😂But that's ok. Your tip has solved my issue. Thank you so much. Be blessed
What a blast from the past! My grandmother made these for me in the mid 70s. I was a preteen and wouldn't wear them. Sure wish I had them now though. Thank you for the memories! Your suggestions are great maybe I need to make me a pair!
Looks cute on you! Maybe a good addition to a vacation wardrobe. But the whole bathroom situation 😂I may just pull it to one side and hold 😅need to make sure I stretch before heading to the restroom 🤣
Great trousers - they look very elegant once they’re on. But going to the bathroom 😱. and thanks for the demo for getting in and out of them. Keeping it real!! Your laughing always makes me LOL too! Thank you 🤗
What a cute outfit on you! I love the fabric. Wish that top wasn’t out of print. Thanks for all your tips for making these pants and getting them on (and off for the bathroom trip)! You did a wonderful job! Thank you
You look beautiful in them! Your bathroom solution is genius! I have wanted a pair for ages but have always been put off by the thought of the bathroom issue. Well done!
So glad you showed how to lay it out. I was looking at those directions saying, "whaaat?" Good grief. I made my wedding dress and this pattern says super easy but couldn't get past step one. Thank you thank you. I plan to make my own ribbon ties too.
That was a hoot! I remember the pattern, but never made it. I couldn’t deal with a puddle of pants on a bathroom stall floor. Very clever work-around. Thanks for bravely sharing. 😂🤣😅-Deborah
Originally there was no elastic and no hook & eye. You just did self-ties on both ends/ sides of the front and back. Place the center front on your belly, tie it in the back. Reach down to pull the crotch into position, then wrap it around to your front and tie in the front! This is crazy, that I was just wishing I had a pair of these to use as a pattern to make more! You can tie them the other way too, in the front first and then in the back.
Hi! I really like your pants. They look nice on you. Also, thanks for the idea of using bias tape/self fabric. Yes indeed, much easier than hook & eye.
I am so happy that you made this video. My waist and hip measurements are the same as yours. I bought that pattern but didn’t know how I could alter it to fit me. Your video rests my fears and I am willing to make it now. Thank you.
I saw this style of shorts a couple months ago and desperately wanted to find the pattern, so thanks for doing this review! They look amazing on you! I'm also glad you explained the sizing because otherwise I would have thought they wouldn't fit me (similar sizing to you). So appreciate it!
It is stunning on you. I love the fabric too. I have the pattern and thinking to sew a beach cover-up. I am glad I didn't do it this year lol I might throw it in the garbage lol. It looks easy but the way you explain em 😂. Thank you for the review and inspiration. ❤❤
Glad you did this one. It looks great on you. I did buy this pattern. And now I think I might make it. I am outside the size range so I think I might add a couple of inches to the pattern. Thanks for the tips and tricks.
Thank you so much for this video. I have been wanting this pattern but Joann didn't have it and Simplicity website was always out of stock (in stock now). After seeing this and the getting iin and out of, I am so glad I didn't get it. Too difficult to get in and out of, I would have wasted time and fabric. Love the way it looks, love the fabric you used. Thank you again for saving me time and money. Have a nice day.
I almost bought this at the last pattern sale!!! But I wondered about the potty factor😂😂 Your came out so pretty!!! I think these are at home party pants!😁
I probably would use the adjustable elastic and add a button to attach the back together. That eliminates the bulk of a tie in the back. Super cute though.
wow, that looks big i am so small this thing may swallow me, i got this pattern today we will see and I don't even know how to sew loll, but i try looks good on you thanks for sharing
I am going to pass on the pants pattern lol, I dont bend like you did to get in them and the bathroom would be horrible. I would lose the fabric in the stool . Oh you have great talent
i love those pants. I just need to figure a way to give it a simple elastic waist so I can get them on and off without ties. I think if I put it on and baste it together on the top sides I might be able to pull it off. Will let u know.
What are you thinking? It seems like it would be fairly easy to cut down the amount on either side to give maybe 6 inches of ease and just sew the side seams up all or part way. If you want elastic, all the way, split sides, part way. I'm thinking split sides with an 18th century pocket to cover any gap..... And ya know, pockets. Tie on both sides instead of front and back. Or maybe button hole elastic and put a button on the inside edges of the pockets.
Thank you so much for this video :) I have kanatha "quilt" fabric and am going to try this pattern. I'm wondering if there isn't any reason a person couldn't sew it all in place and add a waistband to make it pull on? Any one have any ideas or help? Subscribed!
Excellent bathroom assist.
😄😄😄

You should, it's a great pattern plus it's an EASY sew😊
Those pants are so awesome looking and your ties for the bathroom solution is genius. Your outfit is beautiful.
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching 😊
See, that bathroom situation. I would probably add elastic to the back also to shimmy out of them. thank you so much for sharing. 😍🤩🙃🤪
You are so welcome! There is definitely a solution to get in and out of these😄😄

Holy moly! I had two pair of these in the 70s!
These are some awesome pants😊
Yes they are@@SewNaturalDane! I'm going to make some after I get my quilt to-do list whittled down some. There's time before next summer.
Looks cute on you! Maybe a good addition to a vacation wardrobe. But the whole bathroom situation 😂I may just pull it to one side and hold 😅need to make sure I stretch before heading to the restroom 🤣
😄😄...whatever works, right!
Love it! That fabric looks so designer. Your adjustments are very cleaver.
Thank you and thanks for watching 😊

Best review ever! I was put off because of the toilet situation…. But now I know! Can’t wait to try them.
😆Thanks so much, glad you found it helpful. Thanks for watching
I loved the demo and I did laugh when you talked about having all the fabric all over the bathroom floor 😂😂
🤣🤣glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching
You look beautiful in them! Your bathroom solution is genius! I have wanted a pair for ages but have always been put off by the thought of the bathroom issue. Well done!
Thanks so much and thanks for watching 😊
My mom had made these for a formal occasion, and i wanted some, too. Thank you!
Thank you so much for watching 😊. I actually want another pair.
New Look has one with shorts, too: pattern 6565. That's the one I bought.
I remember that pattern and that style because I wore them. I guess that says how old I am.😅
😄😄 well it definitely is a great pattern.
I think I might attach the elastic together and step into it. I thought of that after your bathroom hints.
That's an idea as well 😊
Shimmy Shimmy coco pop! Great idea I made it in a batik as both sides look the same. It makes onr feel glamorous.Nifty on you, well styled.
Ohhh I bet Batik is GORGEOUS 😍. Thanks so much
I made those in the 1970’s. I made them out of poly knit.
I bet super comfortable in ponte😊
So glad you showed how to lay it out. I was looking at those directions saying, "whaaat?" Good grief. I made my wedding dress and this pattern says super easy but couldn't get past step one. Thank you thank you. I plan to make my own ribbon ties too.

LOVE the outfit!!! And it looks great on you!! I want to try both top and bottom!!
Both are great patterns 😊
That was a hoot! I remember the pattern, but never made it. I couldn’t deal with a puddle of pants on a bathroom stall floor. Very clever work-around. Thanks for bravely sharing. 😂🤣😅-Deborah

Oh wow, had no idea they changed the design. Thanks for the insight 😊
Well, you're much younger than I am@@SewNaturalDane, so there's that!
This would be amazing to do with a border print.
It surely would be 😊

Beautiful. Thanks for all the tips . I bought some 108 inch fabric at Joann’s
Thank you...oh extra wide fabric for the win 😄
Thank you so much for this video! I just bought this pattern and was so confused about how to put it on. Your demonstration and tips are brilliant.
😀😀so glad it was helpful. Thank you for watching.
Beautiful and I will get it!
Thank you, bonus its a super easy sew🤗

Those are nice pants. I would try not to be outside too long, so when it is time to go to the bathroom, I am back home.
😆😆 thanks so much. I love them and hoping to make another pair in Chambray before end of year
I almost bought this at the last pattern sale!!! But I wondered about the potty factor😂😂 Your came out so pretty!!!
I think these are at home party pants!😁
😄😄Super funny...thanks for watching
I probably would use the adjustable elastic and add a button to attach the back together. That eliminates the bulk of a tie in the back. Super cute though.
Keisha that's also an option. For me, I would hate to experience a popped button😄
Super cute! I wonder if they would be warm enough for the cold winter ahead? Maybe with tights under…
Depending on how low the temperature gets. I would consider making in a lightweight denim or Chambray 😊
I love your review/video! I am actually getting ready to make a pair. I am making mine out of cotton. I may use elastic on the front and back.
Thanks so much, glad you found it helpful 😀
wow, that looks big i am so small this thing may swallow me, i got this pattern today we will see and I don't even know how to sew loll, but i try looks good on you thanks for sharing
😆😆😆, definitely cut out the size close to your body measurements and you'll do fine.
I am going to pass on the pants pattern lol, I dont bend like you did to get in them and the bathroom would be horrible. I would lose the fabric in the stool . Oh you have great talent
😄😄 thanks so Helen

Sounds like a great work around you have thought of.

Thanks Katie for subscribing 😀. Hmmm, I bet there is a way for sure, I would have to give it a think through but thanks so much for watching.
I love the fabric but I don’t know bout the taking on and off😂😂😂
Thank you and yes the bathroom situation I had to figure out.😄
