Thank you for making this video! I hope you will make more like this. It is so helpful to hear a realistic assessment. Especially when there are SO MANY PATTERNS!
You showcased a lot of nice patterns. I especially loved the New Look 6707 blouse. It's hard to believe how much a collar can really make a blouse pattern stand out. Thank you for sharing.
This is an excellent resource, thank you. I am an experienced sewer, but I do enjoy simple makes as well, I have a young friend I am giving sewing lessons, and it's great if we can make something together. These patterns are a great jumping-off point for the more experienced sewer by changing sleeves or necklines, elevating finishes, and adding a lining are good ways to stretch your creativity and skills.
You are right about McCall 7831 overall dress being VERY short. I made this when I was a beginner sewist for my 6' tall daughter. I ended up just serging the hem because we didn't want to lose any length by folding under any of the hem. All your creations are gorgeous!
great content! I want to try some of the ones you recommended as beginner but ready for a challenge. You also got me interested in a few patterns that I had initially not been interested in based on the styled photos. Your versions are cuter in a lot of cases. I also think the McCalls 7831 overalls dress is too short. I'm tall and I could barely hem it and I have to wear tights. I made mine out of a black and white twill with black faux leather piping, it looks a little more dressy cool girl with the piping. This was the first garment I made that I wear out of the house! I recommend it for beginners M7831.
What pattern did you use for that sea foam color pants when you mentioned Mi Mi G elasticized crop top? very nice looking pants. Thanks for your review and encouraging us to sew. Love from Denver, Colorado..
i just stumbled across a pattern--it's for knits but it is gored with elastic waist (affiliate link): patternemporium.com/collections/womens-skirt-sewing-patterns/products/symphony-skirt?aff=140

I would like to have a pattern for a gored skirt but with an elastic waistband, any suggestions?
i'm afraid i can't think of any off the top of my head but The Fold Line has good search parameters. you might try looking there.
