Beautiful clear footage . Always surprising how much angle the steering wheel requires.

You're right. In addition, looking at the pilot, I imagine it is a great feeling to manoeuvre that big steering wheel with its wooden crown and insert those manual gears with force in that precise shift. Making a Ferrari from the 60s dance on the curves must be a unique and incomparable sensation 👍

@@Italiansupercarvideo it’s a dream! Maybe it’s my imagination but the gearshift action looks really nice and precise. Thanks for these wonderful films.

@@mosca3289 You're welcome, to me, too, the shifting action feels really nice, the gears go in beautifully. Surely the pilot knows the car well and makes everything pleasant to see. It must be a dream to drive these cars.

Both cars sounded and looked mechanically tight and well sorted, probably better than new! The GTO shifts were very crisp for a 1961....anything!

You find me perfectly agree. I love these cars, their driving dynamics and the sensations they convey behind the wheel are also clear and crisp. Modern cars are too filtered and aseptic.

@@Italiansupercarvideo Yes, but lots of year before, I saw this kind of car with "full open" exhaust pipe and it was very symphonic and made lots of V12's noise... I this video, it had the "original" exhaust pipe with less noise.

There's a long story of why that shape. It's a unique and very particular car; if you search on the internet, you'll find lots of information. However, those who bought this car at the time wanted to compete with the more modern 250 GTOs and relied on the skilled hands of Giotto Bizzarrini (the one who developed the same 250 GTO) and Piero Drogo, a well-known coachbuilder from Modena, applying the aerodynamic theories of Wunibald Kamm and the rear with a truncated tail (Coda Tronca). We have similar examples, for example, with the Alfa Romeo TZ1 and TZ2. Once the car was completed, its design recalled that of the bread van, hence the nickname has remained. Don't think that it was only a bodywork development, Bizzarrini also moved the engine to have a better distribution of the masses. In short, he did other important jobs. This car was built on the chassis of a 250 GT SWB. In short, on the Le Mans straight this car was 7km/h faster than the Ferrari 250 GTOs themselves. So the aerodynamic theories had found a favourable response.
