    I bought Inspiron 16 plus (7640) . It is heating so much on my first day of laptop. It heats up minutes and I don’t even play video games. It takes so much time to load applications..

      Try updating both the bios and the graphics card. See if that helps. If it doesn’t, then you may have gotten a lemon. Send it back for replacement.

      Try running Linux from a USB flash-drive (i.e. no need to fully install Linux, just run it off a USB stick). See if it gets hot while running Linux. I would recommend something like "Kubuntu" or "Fedora KDE".

    Hi Chris great video. While checking refurbished deals on the Dell website, I am now even more confused which one to get whether a ryzen or an i7 or an i5 a P and U processor. Some have the better screen as well. I have just listed below a few, any recommendations which one you would choose in priority.
    1. Intel Core 13th Generation i5-1340P Processor (12 Core, Up to 4.60GHz, 12MB Cache, 28W) with 16 inch QHD+ (2560 x 1600) 16:10 2.5K Wide View Angle Anti-Glare 300-nits

    3.AMD Ryzen 7 8840U Processor (8 Core, Up to 5.10GHz, 24MB Cache, 28W) with 16 inch FHD+ (1920 x 1200) 16:10 WVA Anti-Glare 250-nits ComfortView

    Am looking at buying this laptop for work and really like the sound of it but I have reservations about the comments regarding windows 11 and over-heating. Am not techie so most of the solutions on here I don´t get...it seems to come with windows installed so then why would it overheat?

    • @ComputerStuff
      @ComputerStuff  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Dell's overheating issues stem from 2 area. 1: some laptops have bad thermal paste, and 2: some need a BIOS update to fix CPU throttling. The later is a very easy fix. The former - yeah you need a professional to do it, if not Dell. Out of hundreds of these units sold from our shop, we have had maybe one or two come back with overheating problems. So I wouldn't worry about it too much.

    I bought one today. I don't normally use Windows, but after unboxing it, I went ahead and completed the Windows installation. I then used Windows for a few hours. One thing I noticed when running Windows was the machine got quite hot, and was quite noisy. The fan was quite loud, although the sound didn't really bother me (it probably will bother some people). It was really using a lot of resources under Windows (like about 12GB of RAM, and CPU usage was around 20% even when sitting idle).
    I ripped out the m.2 with Windows on it, and installed a 2TB m.2, and then installed Arch Linux with KDE Plasma. In Linux, the machine runs much cooler and quieter. Everything works fine in Linux. So far, I'm really enjoying the Inspiron 5645. Everything is quite snappy, at idle it's discharging at around 5W, when watching a FHD TH-cam video it discharges at around 9W to 12W (for some reason it goes up and down). I've been using it for about 5 hours with Linux (mostly just installing and configuring stuff, but also watching some TH-cam), and the battery is currently at 39% with an estimated 2 hours 19 minutes remaining. It still gets a little warn underneath (towards the the read, in the middle) under Linux, but nowhere near as warm as it does with Windows.
    It makes a great Linux laptop! I was stunned at how "clunky" Windows 11 felt, but that just may be down to me not using Windows for a very long time. At this price point, I think the Inspiron 5645 is a really good buy! The screen looks good, the keyboard feels fantastic, and the trackpad is okay. There's not that many user-configurable BIOS options (e.g. no way to set the amount of video memory - you get 512MB, and that's it), but that's fine for a budget laptop.
    So far, very pleasantly surprised with what you get at this price point! I'm going to start installing all the dev tools I use on it now, may make a quick video once this is done.

      @@MarkRad The RAM is not soldered. Nothing is soldered! 😉You can swap out the RAM, WiFi module, and the m2 drive. I put a 2TB 2280 in mine, it works fine. I just didn't use the bracket that came with the 2230. I'm still surprised about how good this machine is at running Linux! Even the fingerprint reader works for logging in and unlocking (and it's fast)!! If this laptop had a 120Hz display and a 68W battery, it would be perfect. Hearing that you are getting very few complaints with this relieves me, because I was trying to find reviews on forums and I could see many comments telling you not to buy Dell Inspirons due to poor build quality, and I was wondering how representative are these comments. How do regard the reliability of this laptop? I know it may be hard to answer since you probably got it not so long ago, but do you think it will likely deteriorate fast? The hinges may break easily (is it plastic)? I am trying to go for something that lasts for long and my Inspiron 15 5559 from about 8 years ago has definitely achieved that

    • @ComputerStuff
      @ComputerStuff  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Having now sold a little over 100 of these units we haven't had one come back yet (although to be fair they're new) but with that said the hinge build isn't plastic like it is on HPs or older Inspiron 15s, so I dont think you'll have issues with the hinges. Reliability should be solid with easy to service parts. I'd have no problem recommending or buying this laptop for myself.
