I just like how the devil gives these long, well thought out, and eloquent speeches only for Christ to essentially be like “you know what dude *starts rubbing his temples* just do whatever it is your gonna do” the only thing the devil was truly tempting was Christ’s patience.
17:25 “sorry if that was boring” Probably the most meaningful way I’ve heard Jesus’s humanity described and I was in the church for many years. Literally brought tears to my eyes thinking about it.

There are 2 sides to the Goon: The first, showing the beauty and triumphs of humanity; the other, showing the sheer, unadulterated horrors of the same breed. It's almost mind-boggling, yet incredibly magnificent. Keep this shit up, even if it isnt "popular" relatively. You're a brilliant storyteller.
@@Flaschenteufel this video is about it😂. Even though you can debate the existence of Jesus, and can be completely atheist, its not hard to say that to be like this is admirable. And in life, for all the bad people there are, there are plenty of good ones, too. You just tend to only hear about the bad ones.
As a Catholic, even though this is a Protestant story, the way you described Jesus' humanity and divinity was beautiful and really helped me understand Him more. It's easy to say that Jesus had it easy because He literally is God, but I understand it more than ever. Your videos help me find my way in my faith. You are doing God's work. Thank you
>Jesus had it easy What part of "he was born in the flesh" and "he was born a man" did you not understand? Imagine you know you will be tortured and nailed to a cross, for your lifetime, and you still go on suffering hunger for the prophets before you - only to be sold out by the synagogue of Satan. Would you call that easy? Stop blaspheming, I'm a catholic too. Both you and me would give up far before Jesus would.
I grew up Roman Catholic, and while I still believe in Jesus and God - I wouldn't feel comfortable calling myself a Catholic anymore, as the church has strayed far too much away from the Word of God and the teachings of the Bible for me to associate myself with, and tie my name to them. But while I may not believe in all of their teachings and practices anymore, I know what they taught me in my youth, and I am confused nowadays because I was taught that Jesus was the *SON* of God - not God, Himself - by the Catholic church. My CCD (catechism) classes taught me as such, as did my church's priest, and my mother who learned the same in Catholic school back in the '60s and '70s. I'm in my late 20s, and it's only been recently that I've seen Catholics describing Jesus literally as God - and it doesn't make sense to me as I specifically remember that Jesus prayed to God before the crucifixion, told his followers not to worship him and to instead worship God, that only God - not Jesus - knows the specific date and time the world will end, etc. And if Jesus is literally God, then why would the devil believe he can manipulate Him when he is as Jesus? Why would he offer Him the world, when God already had it? Plus, if Jesus is God, then that means man is able to kill God - and it means that the Jews and the Romans literally killed God - amongst many other problems and contradictions. It doesn't make sense to me that people claim Jesus is God, and I never thought this was a Catholic belief. I understand the Trinity is a Catholic belief, but as it's not in the Bible, I don't subscribe to it - but I get it - although I don't think that the Trinity literally equates Jesus to being God and instead just describes the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost (the spirit of God). If they were all the same thing, you wouldn't have to descibe each of them - you could just refer to one of them and the three parts would be a given. And if the Trinity were a real thing that somehow made it so God is literally Jesus, I strongly believe that Jesus would have told us this. He didn't. I do realize that as a human, I can never understand God fully - but I believe that if God wanted to be worshipped as such, he would have told us so directly, either through Jesus or one of His earlier prophets. But as I said, I'm just a human and can be wrong... ...So tell me Catholics, were you taught that Jesus IS God instead of was the son of God? If so, why do you believe this? Were any other Catholics taught what I was? I'm pretty intrigued by this revelation, as I've only heard of it recently and I'd like to know why and where this is all coming from as of late. Thanks for reading. Have a blessed day! 🌻
If anything people being like "maybe the devil was the good guy/misunderstood" from these books are just testaments to how well written they are. Depicting a figure widely known to be evil but with incomparable charisma, to write that figure in such a charismatic way that it even tricks the reader is quite the feat
ya, in the poem he’s described as a handsome man. Sin is tempting, attractive, and deceitful. If the devil is supposed to embody sin and evil, it would make sense that he would be charismatic and relatable on a surface level.
Because that's ALL the devil can do. He's powerless in any material sense. All he can do is tempt. Of course he'd have to get pretty good at it. He knows he's going to lose in the end. he knows he's outmatched. He's just a petulant child trying to flip over the game board before he inevitably loses and bring down as many people with him as possible. He's really a pathetic character when you get down to it.
Wendigoon went from being an obscure, Christian-based, horror-loving 'conspiracy' theorist to a soon-to-be married man. A major upgrade, consider me proud
He went from being an obscure, Christian-based, horror-loving ‘conspiracy’ theorist to a soon-to-be married well-known, Christian-based, horror-loving ‘conspiracy’ theorist.
I love how Jesus at the beginning of this entire conversation was like "I don't care what you offer, I don't accept gifts given with ulterior motives" and Satan is 17 offers in like "Okay, but what about 300 freshly made Whopper sandwiches?"
As someone who gave up both alcohol and smoking for lint and struggling with the temptation, it was nice to get this reading from you about the story of my savior. Thank you
Me to lol stay strong ✊ half way there remember penance just like Jesus is so we are able to control our urges/temptation so that we have the power to make choices that bring us closer to God
Alcohol is probably the most dangerous drug, and I find it terrifying people don't really know that or don't comprehend the risk. I support you and hope you keep away from that stuff in the future.
I love how Jesus never really gets mad at Lucifer despite how hard he tries to corrupt him, Jesus just turns down every offer as politely as he would an offer of money or food from any other person, especially with how mad Lucifer gets toward the end, even then Jesus is still calm and collected cause he sees right through Lucifer’s bs
this just showed me that Jesus is a prophet to me. because there's no way a fallen angel dare to tempt God. not even Satan himself dare to do that. because to me, God is all knowing and almighty. even the root of evil wouldn't dare to disobey God.
@@ivanrizky8862Be careful not to fall into the heresy of nestorianism. I’m not sure if you are of the faith, but if you are, please do not doubt Jesus’s and God’s shared divinity. Satan dared to tempt Jesus because he saw that God had come down to us incarnated as a man just like the rest of us which meant he too also had to deal with the hardships of hunger, pain, and being limited to the human mind. It was only by Jesus’s divinity that he was able to perform miracles and resist all temptations of the flesh. The fact Jesus was able to resist the greatest of all deceivers should be proof enough that he is in fact God.
As an agnostic, listening to you explain biblical stories is never boring. I appreciate your manner of explaining, & enjoy learning from you, so thank you! Congratulations on your engagement!

@@PeacePills. You seem to be ignorant of the true story of Scripture. You are creating a straw man's straw man. Satan did not give humanity intellect; he did not give humanity wisdom or knowledge; a fallen angel procreated with Eve, via Eve 'eating of the forbidden fruit.' Adam took her and accepted this transgression against him, raising Cain, of whom was the seed of the Fallen One, and not of his own seed, thus him sharing the forbidden fruit (Even convinced him not to throw her out and to partake in such things, so he did, thus spawning Abel). Adam got Eve pregnant with Abel (later Seth), and that is the Adamic seed; the seed of 'the snake' (Serpent seed) will always been at enmity with the seed of Adam (the Adamic seed). Cain is the seed of the serpent; this is why 'nobility' claim to be 'blue bloods' and of a separate race to that of 'humanity as a whole.' Rh- blood is a huge thing, with those having it being the true Adamic inheritors. The seed of Abraham is a specific subset of the Adamic race, of which YHWH's covenant is only with them (us). These is not 'j***,' as you might think, for they make up less than 5% of the inheritance. Lastly, the flood was not 'global,' and the Bible never says the flood was 'global;' it only makes mention that it covered the earth, and 'earth' translates to 'land.' SO, the Bible states that there was a flood that covered the land. This was a regional flood, which is how the seed of Cain was able to survive. The bible talks about seeds a lot, and this is physical descendants and offspring of people. A very, very recent phenomena is to push the notion that 'seed' means 'spiritual seed,' which is in total contradiction to Scripture. To even think in this way is to call YHWH a liar, which is hilarious for those that claim to be 'Christians.'
@@alexjustalexyt1144 There are no 'pearly gates.' The Bible makes no mention of people going to heaven when they die. It also makes no mention of anyone going to hell; the 'lake of fire' is not 'hell,' and those cast in the lake of fire receive the 'second death,' which is literally the death that atheists believe in (total non-existence). Modern Christianity is honestly a complete joke, not even understanding their own 'religion.' Modern Christianity is a creation of Jesuits and Rockefeller funded seminary schools disseminating a religious worldview meant to cause its 'sheep' to sleep and never awaken to the Truth. The Bible predicted this, in that the churches would all be false churches, its leaders false leaders, and its followers 'sheep easily lead astray,' being massively ignorant of the truth via their own laziness. To put it bluntly, the modern 'Christian' actually worships Lucifer without realizing it.
The Devil really did say, "I didn't get no sleep cause of y'all, y'all not gonna get no sleep cause of me!" Also I choked up when you said, "Next to God, she's the best thing to ever happen to me." I was raised in a Christian leaning household and we didn't really practice anything besides holidays. But that sentiment is so powerful and exactly how I felt when my then fiance agreed to marry me. Congratulations to you both!! I hope you look back on your wedding and agree you wouldn't change a thing and have a truly wonderful marriage.

“I’m sorry if that was boring.” -Wendigoon, shortly after laying out the most enthralling and captivating breakdown of the divinity of Jesus Christ ever spoken
I just want to say how grateful I am for all of your religious videos. I was raised in a mega church founded by Kenneth Copeland (yes, the blowing Covid-19 away guy lol) where they mainly focused on growing wealth and heavily on tithing. After leaving the church years ago & other life events happening, I grew resentment & anger in my heart over my relationship with God. At the time, I thought it could never be repaired. Since watching your more religious videos, I’ve grown to have a whole newfound appreciation & love for God & His messages. This new relationship I have with Him is one of my own and I feel proud to be able to hold on to that & never want to let that go again. Thank you so so much for creating such amazing videos that helped me heal my heart to open myself back up to Him. Btw, I was sobbing at the end of Paradise Lost because of how tragically, beautiful you described Adam’s sacrifice to be with his beloved Eve.
God has always had his arms open for you. You left due to pain but his arms remained open. On the day you return God will accept you as he loves you deeply.

Im in a very similar boat, funnily enough. My parents are both preachers who were taught firsthand by ken ham and kent hovind, and i was raised from birth to be a diehard pentecostal. However, during my own reading of the bible, and watching the "christlike" demeanor of preachers being nothing but a façade, i started to grow hatred and resentment for existence, the earth, everything. These videos, alongside reading/consuming other "christian fanfic", or man's attempt to empathize with the divine, have helped me come back around to God, and see the hope in everything once again. Wendi may think these videos are campy or cheesy, but i hope he sees how theyve helped folk like us
Everytime Wendigoon talks about anything Bible related it's a banger. Thank you for talking about these books, and discussing about it in a way that's accessible to both non-Christians and Christians. Also I like the term "Biblical nerd", it's a nice term.
When he was talking about Jesus being perfect and dying for us so we can be imperfect but reconciled to God's love in the last video it was so personal ❤.... then Wendigoon went on a tangent about some guy who wrote a wacky wattpad fanfic about St. Paul and a random girl with Avenger-level superpowers that went viral in the 3rd century for all the wrong reasons when the dude tried to get it included in the Bible...so there's that😆
The term biblical nerd actually helped put things into perspective, when you think of a religious person you probably think of a very serious person, or at least I did. And then I realized, the Bible is a subject that one can nerd out about. So that definitely changed my perception from religious people being very serious to just regular people. If that makes sense
Wendi successfully explaining the Nicene vs Arian controversy and the churches accepted conclusion is not something I expected, but am not surprised at all. Absolutely crushed it in normal everyday language, which is insanely hard to do. Well done, wendi! Keep up the excellent teaching and story telling!
Wendigoon really helped me find my path in my faith. I have accepted Christ into my heart after so many miracles and I partly attribute my path with Christ to him. I just found a great church and am looking forward to be baptized! I am just so full of joy. I wish people could understand this feeling. Thanks, Isaiah.
UPDATE!: I was surprised to see so many likes and comments- thank you brothers and sisters that have faith with me in the one true God! I wanted to be sure you all knew I FINALLY have my baptism scheduled for 9:30am MST on September 9th, right before my birthday on the 10th, which is a Sunday this year. I’m so excited, everyone! Talked with my pastor of course. It’s so exciting. The only thing I always worry about is me crying and looking weak (I want to represent Christ well and not look weak!) as I want to be a warrior in Christ. If anyone has advice for that I’m all ears hahaha Just wanted to say, thanks for all the support. I could’ve taken baptism slots the next day when I posted my comment, but really wanted this to have significance and to have something to look forward too. I just imagine the holy dove and maybe Jesus and my deceased mom say, “you did good”. Thanks again, @wendigoon. Changing people’s lives.

Same here. Agnostic with zen buddhist leanings but disdain for religion. Yet I find myself listening these videos of Wendigoon. I appreciate his delivery that is simply educational but not preachy. Can't stand preaching or converting. Appreciate history, philosophical aspects and culture and that's enough reason for me to listen to this man.
Exactly, its informative and entertaining instead of indoctrinating. Like, hes not telling us what to believe, just the story and what his personal thoughts are on it. I LOVE hearing about different belief systems and its hard to find viewpoints like his. I like to think Wendi tells the narrative like its supposed to be told, like Jesus/ deciles would have told it. Not a "YOU MUST OR DIE" But a, "Hey, lissten to this story and tell me what you think"
I wasn't much of a religious person but listening to one of my favorite TH-camrs talk about their faith in a way that conveys the message clearly, with passion, and doesn't present themselves as knowing it all as facts. You have helped restore my faith in God and I've been taking steps to come back into the light. I've been a fan for a long time since the start of the conspiracy theory iceberg, I wish I could thank you personally but this comment will have to do. Thank you and please continue to make amazing content religious or not I love it. 💚

When he cries during his video on Paradise Lost...it really moved me. Glad to see a mainstream TH-camr giving these topics a serious and unapologetic look and discussion. Wendigoon ftw
I think the saddest part of Lucifer's whole character is that his pride (which is his entire being) is the thing that stops him from understanding anything that Jesus says. He's so convinced that he's right, that he's blinded by alternate arguments. And then - I feel - that the reason he falls at Jesus' final rebuke is because he loses his grip on his pride even if it's for just a second.
@@edo-san I don't wish to be dismissive, but I'm not sure this comment makes sense, in terms of the poem we're talking about. Jesus gives Lucifer many opportunities to provide him with a good argument. He considers them, and only as each temptation is offered does becomes less and less tolerant.
it's absurd to me how a man in the 1600s writing these two stories, and you explaning them now, have strengthened my faith and ideas more than going to church or reading the Bible have. your videos are fantastic man! :D
God doesn’t always use preachers and priests to share his messages! Sometimes it can be from a TH-camr. No matter where you get your message, as long as it’s received!
Milton had it together. I just read his tract On Education, and it is EXACTLY what we need for our youth, and the divide between that and what we have today is vast.
I totally agree. I don’t practice any of the Judeo-Christian religions but seeing others faith become stronger always strengthens my faith in my own practice. I just love seeing people get closer to their spirituality, no matter how they do so.
I love how the devil is like those infomercial guys like, "uh you can have fame, women, food, money AND THATS NOT ALL, by the simple cost of a sin you can ruuuule the world"

As a Christian who doesn't trust the word written by fallen men in the bible, who questions everything and studies Buddhist teachings, thank you for being, brother. May your brief stint in the physical be joyful, and I hope to see you when we return to the Source. I realized a while back that all of us are reaching for the same thing.

@@zogwort1522 this is interesting. A lack of abuse in your life… odd way to say it but I agree 100 percent. When I was young I went to youth group with a friend and skateboard and stuff. I did well. Then studied science in college and had very liberal professors who hated god and truly pushed that on us and the company I worked for were all scientists and obviously most do not believe. So it was hammered in and of course at 21 I knew all the answers in life and become that smart 8th grader who has figured out that miracles are pretty out there and I know the truth of the world. Then of course alcoholism came in full swing that brought crippling depression and anxiety, and through many years of agonizing pain both mentally and physically I fell to my knees and accepted God back into my life. I mean it didn’t stop me from drinking and I still deal with it and other things, but it’s a hell of a lot better than carrying my cross in life alone I’ll tell you that. I would have never came back to God if I could have dealt with it on my own. I would have on my death bed I know I’m not brave enough to walk into death alone though. Faith is and odd thing. How we get there is pretty normal, through pain usually. It’s sort of amusing the more we know and especially recently with major leaps in science the evidence is becoming so staggering staunch atheists are even admitting ok… there is something. I’m not good at many things in life but I am pretty good at reading people. Having been on both sides of the aisle, even if this side is a little diluted, people are mostly happy and are grounded I’ve found. I dunno what I’m really even trying to say here. I guess there are no easy answers in life. It’s called faith for a reason. I wish I could have been born into a strict household in Saudi Arabia lol. I wouldnt be christian had it not been for wendigoon and im very thankful for him helping me find my faith. I dabbled in many religions and liked christianity but avoided it anyways. I was prideful and arrogant and pretended god wasnt real, and he was cruel and unjust. I misunderstood and instead of researching and trying to understand, i let myself be blinded by hatred. One day, curiosity got the best of me and i went down the wendi-bible rabbit hole and i learned so much and loved every second. That day, i found my love for god. I regret being so arrogant and stubborn and i apologize to god every day. I hope he can forgive me, i know he is a loving and forgiving god, but it took 20 years for me to quit being so stubborn. And the thing is, i knew lots of scripture and preached it to others who were using it to be douchebags essentially. I wasnt about to let that slide, youre not going to use christianity as a weapon. And then 10 seconds later i pretended to be mad at god even after defending him 😂 i wasnt that bright, huh? Anyways, many many thanks to wendigoon for helping me find my faith and entertaining me with every video he posts. Quality content that is always worth the wait!

Contradiction #6 How old was Jehoiachin when he became king of Jerusalem? (a) Eighteen (2 Kings 24:8). (b) Eight (2 Chronicles 36:9). THESE ARE 6 OF MANY CONTRADICTIONS IN THE BIBLE. The Bible is not the word of God it has been corrupted and changed. If the Bible was the Actual Book of God it wouldn't have any mistakes. Also its not historically reliable.
Yes, explaining how it's totes logical, and not an incoherent , nonsensical contradiction (and 100% extra-biblical assumption) to claim Jesus as "fully god, yet fully man", is COMPLETELY "objective" and factual... ...And it DEFINITELY isn't just the Christian variant of the exact same goofball, evidence-free "spiritual" jibberish we get from Islam, Mormonism, Hindus, Scientology, Raeliens, or the stoner down the street after the "sacrament" of way too much kratom and solvent-huffing... (which probly closely resembles how ALL these religions started, in the first place.)
I appreciate that Milton's portrayal of the devil and his associates, particularly that they are forced to react and respond to events that are happening in the world. Too often it's easy to think that the devil is omnipresent and omniscient in a sense, that he can read people's minds, that he knows everything that will happen etc. While he is probably more perceptive than most any human, he is nowhere near the level of knowledge and wisdom that God has. I just like seeing that.
The shirt plus the mid-length hair and subject matter is giving everyone’s favourite youth pastor and I can’t wait to listen to this video while studying. Hour(s) long Wendigoon videos are the the best Wendigoon videos~ Thanks for your hard work!
That ending trully make me tear up. I mean, I know that we don't know each other, and probably never will. But just looking at your videos and your collaborations you can tell how trully of a decent and respectable men you are, and after all the joy and laughs and happiness you brought to all of us, it trully makes me happy, loving my new legal mother and brother so far, and thanks for the video wendigoon
I’m an atheist, but I absolutely LOVE the religion based videos. Truthfully I can watch Wendigoon talk about anything, but these ones always fascinated me as I enjoy learning of the many stories and epics of various religions
Not only religion based videos, but videos made by people who have love for the religion, but are open to other points of view. Goon boy is awesome, and the main reason is that he isn't shoving it down your throat, or trying to convince you of anything. All he's doing is speaking about why he loves it, and what it means to him.
I’ve just spent the last two days Binging the biblical fanfiction videos and I must say, as a Christian who has been in a rut in my faith, these have completely rekindled my drive to spend time in the Bible and with God. I’m incredibly thankful to these weird videos explaining odd interpretations of biblical media, and I can’t wait for more. Thank you
Hate to sound like a broken record, but have you ever heard of the BibleProject? I know I say this to everybody, but it really is a great place to start. They go over every book of the Bible in short, easy-to-understand videos, only a few minutes at a time. I know it really helped me out. God bless! :)
@@Kanggaxx I think the problem has more to do with time, energy, and understanding. For example, even the US Constitution is written above a college reading-level. Since the average person's reading-level is much lower than that, (at least in the States) it takes the average person significant time and effort to read the Constitution, if they can understand it at all. Shakespeare? Even worse. Now, imagine that, instead of a book written in Modern English a few hundred years ago, it was a book written in multiple ancient languages thousands of years ago. You can see how this might be a *tad* draining, especially if you have to juggle work and family on top of it. Add in the fact that ANE writers had a high-context culture, where you're expected to understand most of the context before you even pick up the book? And that much of this context was lost until recent archaeology has rediscovered it in the past few decades? Then add on the high level of artistic flourish, and the sheer volume of the text? There's a reason that personal Bible reading was never the main priority for the laity. I mean, low literacy rates and the high cost of printing were certainly factors as well, but this was the main reason. Scripture was historically read primarily in the Liturgy, and still is to this day. Personal Bible reading is always encouraged, but group Bible studies and the Church calendar have absolutely primacy of place. A common error I see among Atheists and Evangelicals is to act as if they're the first ones to read the Bible, and that whatever interpretation pops into their heads must obviously be the right one. Hate to break it to you, but even the world's leading Bible scholars have issues understanding everything, and I don't put much more faith in you. It really is that complex of a book. There's a reason why we scour Patristics and cite the Early Church Fathers. From the outset, there have been people who "read it for themselves" and end up remaking theology in their own image. Sabellianism, Arianism, Nestorianism... These all occurred because someone read a passage and immediately assumed they had the correct interpretation without consulting the rest of Scripture or the wisdom of the Church. (Papists, on the other hand, replace Scripture entirely, and would believe any absurdly blatant lie of an interpretation so long as it's endorsed by the Roman See, but that's another topic.) So, maybe, instead of accusing those who are too busy, tired, or poorly educated to regularly read one of the most difficult books you can find on shelves today of lacking trust in our Lord, perhaps you should have enough humility to realize you probably aren't much of a Biblical scholar yourself. And, on the condition that you are, (which I have serious reason to doubt) it's only because you have been blessed with enough free time and intellectual rigour to devote countless hours to the topic. For the average layman, attending regular liturgical worship and differing to the opinions of professional theologians may not be ideal, but it's likely the best we can expect in this fallen world. God bless. --Acts 8:30-31 "If you are a theologian, you will pray truly. And if you pray truly, you are a theologian." --Evagrius Ponticus, *De* *Oratione* ch. 61
I know people say it all the time, but I've somewhat felt a rekindling of faith through wendigoon's videos on these adaptive works from the scripture. There have been little inklings here and there over the years, but it wasn't until his paradise lost video that I really felt something and started even going to church again on occasion. This one was indeed pretty powerful, even secondhand through his abridgement. That "or was" I felt too was massively powerful. I've been away for a long time, and a lot of that time simply because I felt myself so beneath it and undeserving for having been the way I was, but that's kind of the point isn't it? Thanks man, your content is amazing, and though I came for the spooky vids, and still love those, I'm most grateful for ones like this.

I love listening to him talk about anything but especially about things that he's super passionate about, like Christianity and all those stories and stuff that comes with it. And I love it even more when it's for an hour plus 😄😄
As a kid I kinda denounced my Christianity because it was just forced on me and because my church was very disrespectful about other beliefs, but the way you portrayed Jesus at the beginning really changed my view and peaked my interest. Put the whole Bible in a different perspective; to see Jesus as an actual person. The church I went to always made him seem like he was always just God's will and not his own person.
There's a difference between a (mordern) Christian and a follower of Jesus' teachings, you dont have to label a belief or appreciation for the stories. Just food for thought:) always keep exploring and reading into more than what people read at you as a child. I'm not Christian btw for clarification lol
If you ever read this Wendigoon I just wanted you to know that your videos have helped me through a lot and your videos on faith, specifically, have helped me get closer to my own faith. Thank you for your insight, your curious nature, your hilarious notes, and above all your compassion in what you do and why you do it. I hope when you get married that you are blessed with love and light, and I wanted you to know that I, just like so many others, more than appreciate and downright love your videos!!! Also thank you for posting this on the day I married the woman of my dreams
Wendigoon has single handedly unfrozen my cold heart towards Bible stories, never in my life did I think I would be excited about listening to a video like this
@@twinzzlers That and a lot of bible stories are told as “If you do what this person did, you will go to hell.” They arent as fun and whimsical as greek or norse stories because they have been used to shame and discriminate people for thousands of years.
@@miyumixxx It's something I've struggled with a ton in my own journey towards God. So many people teach how God is all merciful and loving in one hand, then turn around a second later and proclaim how God will condemn His creations to eternal torment in the other. Based on what I've seen, there are lots of religions out there that teach everyone who isn't a part of their faith is going to hell, this is an incredibly depressing and troubling thought to me. It's why I'm LDS/Mormon, our faith doesn't take the, everyone else goes to hell approach. Rather, our leaders have actually stated that there will be more people in heaven who aren't a part of our religion than those who are a part of it. We believe it's not about what religion you're a part of, it's how you live your life and treat people. People will even have the opportunity to accept Christ after death in our religion.
@@themidnighttavern6784 I struggled with it a lot too in my journey of faith. I grew up in a christian household, fell in love with science and automatically assumed I had to he an atheist, but eventually have gotten to where I am now as an agnostic theist. It is like the goldilocks story, but with religion instead of beds, chairs, and porridge for me. Honestly, after all the conflicting stories I started to wonder if everyone was just wrong. That maybe “god” isn’t really “God”, maybe they are someone else, maybe they don’t like being named, maybe they don’t interact with the world or maybe they do. I figured, none of us know, and I’m happier not making assumptions and that as long as I make good moral decisions, whomever might be up there will be content with that. I mean, I’m really just hoping that whoever is running this circus of a universe is not a dictator with very specific rules like the super religious christians like to claim lol I honestly never knew that mormons had differing beliefs than those of typical Christians, which is genuinely super interesting. Probably mostly because all you ever hear about them are that they are a “cult” and that they are “nut jobs”. Personally, I literally don’t care as long as everyone minds their business and is happy with their faith or lack thereof :)
I am not a man of faith, but my family has been heavily involved in the church since well before I was born. With this, Paradise Lost, and some of your other more religion-centered videos, I have gained a good insight into how to discuss certain topics with my family on (a slightly) more even footing. Thank you Wendi!
My favorite idea that I've heard from one of his videos was from Paradise Lost, at the end where the angel takes Adam to that mountain and shows him all the history between him and Jesus. I know it's fiction, but if it were true, then it would imply a beautiful piece of theology. It would mean that the hope of Jesus has been around from the very beginning like a flame. For as long as there's been sin, there's been the hope to counter it, and humanity has *always* had the choice between the two (besides the first few minutes outside the garden).
My grandmother was deeply religious, and I have fond memories of going to church with her every Sunday, listening to her stories or seeing her praying every morning and evening. I love her so much, she was like a mother and a guide to me. Your videos on the subject really help to understand better what the bible means, without feeling judged guilt-tripped like some preachers would do. So, thank you and keep up the good work ! 🙏💙
I genuinely love this man. He has provided me with so much knowledge, entertainment, and company. I pray he never stops TH-cam. Absolutely phenomenal work.
I really love this. And I really love how you say you don’t empathize with the Devil but you feel bad in some way. Because that’s what I feel here. What I think the writer really wanted us to feel. He wanted us to know that Lucifer is a scared, spiteful child who is yelling at his ‘superior sibling’. He is Cain being angry at Abel once again. But this time it’s even grander. This is the one who led Cain to such hatred, and this is the one who god loved, just as he loved Abel. It just sounds like someone too prideful to take back a mistake, but too emotional to stop himself from saying something stupid. Lucifer wants to be vindicated, wants to be given a smidgen of remorse and some sort of apology, I think. That’s how it sounds. And you don’t want to feel bad for the devil… but you do. Because the Devil sounds so sad and human. He is tempting you to feel bad for him, and it kinda works. But even then, he doesn’t realize that the sadness we feel is pity for a being that fell so far. Pity for the screaming, immature child who can’t understand that they are in the wrong. And that, in my opinion, is brilliant writing.
Yes, this! It's sad because you know he won't change or ask for forgiveness, he can't admit what he did was selfish and wrong. If he were to admit that then he'd be admitting to God that he was right all along, that everything he's done up till now has been completely pointless(a kid throwing a tantrum). I think he knows this and is another layer as to why he'll never apologize, because it attacks his pride and he can't have that now can he.
I don't think the devil is supposed to be tempting, I think he's just having human issues which we as humans can empathize with. I'm not religious but if you want to we can take it a step further and say that our empathy towards the devil of all people, the original sinner, is just like how god says that he loves everyone, not just the faithful and righteous, in a way manifesting that within us. Which is I think the main point of christianity as a moral system, to be ready to love and forgive anyone.
Maybe the reason behind the humanization is to show Satan as a pitiful, sad being, and not as a stereotypical evil one. He won’t trick people as the devil, but he will trick people with personality. If we can recognize the personality, we can resist the temptation
Fun fact: According to my older sister, who is Christian, but has never read Paradise Lost, apparently when she was younger and would do her standard prayers, after she was done talking to God, she would pivot over to Satan and be like "Hey, if you just asked for forgiveness, I'm sure God would forgive you too."
Is it realy temptation when the pain we think he feels is actually felt by him? Master manipulator or not. Lucifer's pain, confusjon and dispair is rather real. He will use our reaction to that to his advantage. No doubt. But his dispair is true. And I pity him. As Im pretty sure god does too.
@@appocalypsechild Yeah, 95% Christians I see or have talked to give me the impression that they've not even read the Bible, or if they have, they're terribly misinterperting it and cherry-picking. Like I can never be a Christian because I've read the Bible and know everything that happens there and what God is all about. But I can love Jesus Christ and what he represents. I don't love God, but I love Jesus. It's kinda funny that...
@@jesustyronechrist2330 95% of Christians also aren't Biblical Scholars. American Evangelicalism has done itself no favors by encouraging its members to evangelize with almost zero understanding of apologetics. The Bahnsen vs. Stein debate is a great introduction to the Transcendental Argument and the evidence of God.

I'm non-denominational and have read the entire bible. My father was a pastor. I got disillusioned with the whole "church scenery" and how those people acted. So full of gossip and what not. Still the strories from the bible are still intriguing and cool to listen to every now and then.

I hope you continue appreciating God’s word for what it is - God’s, not the church’s. We are to have a relationship with God first and foremost, and unfortunately, people (and churches) will disappoint us with worldly corruption. While I think it is important to have a relationship with brothers and sisters in Christ, that is not your faith. Bless you.
I'm not very religious but I've always been fascinated by bible stories in a way. These series of videos have been very interesting and definitely entertaining. Thank you for retelling these stories 😊
When I was in highschool, senior year(2010) I wrote a paper on Dante’s inferno, my composition teacher suggested I read paradise lost and regained. This was during my staunch agnostic/atheist years yet that “I am…or was”, still hit hard too.
I am not religious but there are alot of things about religion that I am curious about. I have never found someone who actually makes me excited to learn about Jesus 😂 Your videos are always so full of emotion, your excitement comes out in your story telling and keeps me captivated and I find myself thinking "wow an hour has gone by already?" When finnishing your videos about Christianity.
@@akemi3517 If you are an avid reader it would probably only take you an hour and a half. I'm a slow reader:) We are all very opinionated and have strong feelings about the subject one way or another but you have an opportunity to find out for yourself who Jesus is. I pray you are able to read it, God Bless you. 🙏
A great place to start is the BibleProject. Their videos are only a few minutes long, and they cover every book of the Bible and most major motifs. The problem most readers have is connecting the narrative themes of Scripture. Unlike what you might have heard people say, the Bible was not intended to be overly simple or understood by anyone at a casual glance. Instead, like any work of art, its volumes were composed by particular people with a particular audience in mind, both being ancient Israelites. Naturally, this has frustrated many generations of readers over the millennia, but that's true of many works of art. Only when you have the full story does anything resembling Christianity start to make sense, and you begin to see yourself as part of God's story. Anyway, hope it helps. Take care! :)
This weekend is my fiancé and I’s 7 year anniversary and we are celebrating with a getaway retreat by ourselves. I told him the only way the hot tub and wine could be better is with a new wendigoon video, and you totally came through. Thanks dad, you put the cherry on top of our anniversary celebration!
I do really find it kind of hard to not feel bad for Satan in some way. Not in a “he’s the victim” kind of way, but more of a “it’s entirely his fault he’s in this situation and he deserves it, but I feel bad that he can’t understand that.” He’s a completely self destructive character that already had it all and wanted more. Obviously the ship has sailed but I do wonder if even after his fall from grace if any form of redemption, even a small one, was ever possible for him, but he was simply incapable of it.
He's just the prime example that redemption is always possible but it requires for one to actually desire it. It doesn't just happen. God's love is massive and for everyone but if people reject that it's not on God.
i like takes like this because people a part of the religion are so scared of saying anything that might sound like they’re defending the devil because of the way people will look at them but as a human i think it’s our job to use empathy and ask questions
I absolutely adore these religious videos. As a Christian still trying to understand God better, these videos are really helpful to me and I feel like there is a lot of wisdom to be found like you mentioned. Thank you for covering these stories and showing your passion for the faith, as they really are a Godsend, pun intended. I would love to see another Sunday Study from you again!
I just want to say I really appreciate your theological content, I’d love to hear more church/ bible history from you! Your explanation of Christ’s Divinity was one of my favorite parts! I can’t stress enough how much I love your content, thanks for all you do
Never considered what the sound of Jesus' singing voice would be like until you describe what it must be like living alongside him. Thank you for such a beautiful sentiment, making the entire hour worth it, in your context.
A wedding!? Congrats my man! I love how you examine these stories. As someone who has trauma around religion, you make it possible to for me to learn and expose myself to these topics without triggering me! Thank you for everything you do and your transparency and honesty. You rock :D
You should read the Bible for yourself. Trauma from religion shouldn't get in the way of your relationship with God. That's what He calls us to, you know: a relationship with Him, not a religion with Him. He wants us to call Him for any help whatsoever in life. He wants us to lean on Him and His teachings to guide us and mold us. Religion is honestly a tool of the devil. It seems to put a middle man between God and man. That's not to say that being part of a local Christian community isn't valuable, but focusing on religion versus God is the wrong approach. I hope He reaches out to you and helps this message click with you so you feel drawn to seek Him out.
@@HebPlays That wasn't very light hearted at all, actually. I didn't make any assumptions on your behalf, I was simply stating the way it should be. If you've read the Bible, then that's great, but there's a difference between reading the Bible and *reading* the Bible. You read Harry Potter, but when Christians talk about the Bible, we mean *reading* it. We mean communing with the Holy Spirit and asking God what He means by the things we read, we mean setting aside our own preconceived notions and letting the truth come out without distortion or dilution. We mean *understanding. * If someone understands the Bible, they're reading it without their own ideas and biases clouding their perception. It's the first step on the path to being a Christian. Anyone can read the Bible, but if you insist on putting yourself above God then you'll never truly understand it.
Even as a non-theistic individual I can say that listening to you talk about these religious topics brings me a greater cultural understanding of Christianity and literary culture. Never stop speaking on what you’re passionate about brother. Congrats on the engagement 🎉.
I’ll instantly drop anything if I see there’s a new Wendigoon video. Love your content and love to see a new video release. Your videos will always continue to cheer me up even when it’s the most wretched, nasty, disgusting stuff.

The best of us deserve to want for nothing, I think, and I'm incredibly happy for you all! Thank you for breaking down a number of interesting and often dense subjects that others may not otherwise explore on their own. It has inspired me to go down my own rabbit hole of search topics and self-enrichment, and undoubtedly countless others as well!
Wonderful timing! Catholics are currently a week into the 40 days of lent, which happens to open with this story if you go to church… which is where I ended up unexpectedly last week (my mom is super catholic and asked me to go w her) During the sermon I was absolutely THRILLED to actually hear “not today satan” said by a catholic priest 😂😂😂😂 (um yes I audibly laughed from waaaay back in second to last row)
I am not a Christian, however I have watched a good number of videos from you, that focus on the Christian worldview, Biblical ideas, as well as Biblical literature and lore. I find it fascinating, and despite religious disagreements or differences, it is always good to be able to gleam what others may perceive and what their beliefs may be. Thank you for great content, both theological in nature and otherwise.
I hear you. Christianity is something I really struggle with, as I grew up in a very toxic religious environment (basically using religion as a crutch to excuse abuse), went through a hardcore angry atheist phase, only to be comforted and taken in by a group of Christians when I was on the verge of 'checking out' (to avoid TH-cam censorship, ya know - kms). You can imagine my confusion, initial reluctance and suspicion of these people belonging to the group I distrusted the most. I ended up seeing that not all Christians are like the ones I knew in my childhood, and that there were plenty of good lessons and comforts in the writings of the bible, but I'm very much opposed to any condemnation of LGBTQ+ people, and I believe abortion access is fundamental healthcare in a world wherein women face significantly greater levels of sexual exploitation / violence and policing of their bodies. So I'm torn at times between feeling very much appreciative of the bible, the comfort of prayer, the fact that we as humans know so little about our existence in the grand scheme of things... and feeling very uncomfortable with a lot of the talking points thrust into the spotlight by Christians. Like we don't need to be praying the gay away when human trafficking is estimated to be at an all time high. So I find these videos fascinating and encouraging as I try to navigate what resonates with me vs what I just cannot morally stand behind.
@@RealElongatedMuskratI get exactly how you feel. I myself am LGBT and funnily enough I get the most hate on my existing from those who claim to be nice and welcoming to all, usually religious people because of where I live. That's not what God is, God is all loving, all accepting despite of who you are, God loves everyone and everything regardless of sin. I usually view those religious people who spew and promote any sort of hate as false prophets, the Bible said many false prophets will appear to de rail one of their faith. I think this applies to these megachurches, hate and judgment filled christians and any religious groups and people. They live their lives in misery while the rest live in happiness. You can accept these people faiths as your own while also understanding there are flaws and wrongs that need to be corrected. >Jesus had it easy
What part of "he was born in the flesh" and "he was born a man" did you not understand?
Imagine you know you will be tortured and nailed to a cross, for your lifetime, and you still go on suffering hunger for the prophets before you - only to be sold out by the synagogue of Satan.
Would you call that easy?
Stop blaspheming, I'm a catholic too. Both you and me would give up far before Jesus would.
@@revisit8480that’s what they said? “It’s easy to say...” not just, “he has it easy”
@@revisit8480 Are you braindead or do you simply lack reading comprehension skills?
@@revisit8480 this is why there are people who won’t touch Christianity with a 10 foot pole. This right here.
Excactly. It doesn't say that satan was a good guy, it just kind of humanises him thus making us question his motives even more.
That or a really short attention span to forget how Satan created death and was the architect of humanity's downfall.

Cain is the seed of the serpent; this is why 'nobility' claim to be 'blue bloods' and of a separate race to that of 'humanity as a whole.'
Rh- blood is a huge thing, with those having it being the true Adamic inheritors.
The Devil really did say, "I didn't get no sleep cause of y'all, y'all not gonna get no sleep cause of me!"

And then - I feel - that the reason he falls at Jesus' final rebuke is because he loses his grip on his pride even if it's for just a second.

i relate to this, too. it wasn't so much as i was forced to it, but in my culture, it is the norm to be roman-catholic. i do not know if i believe in God or not, and if it's because i grew up with that belief or because i came to the conclusion myself. either way, these videos are still very cool to watch, and they certainly do give good information to talk to others around you about!
It seems to me that church is basically at least 2 or more people discussing the word of God. So you speaking with ur friends or people only about the Bible, studying it and learning from it can be seen as church. In my opinion

The Bible lore category of literature is such an interesting subject. Thanks for doing it justice, Wendi.
I wish modern stories could make literature like this without it being done through an analogy or be made by people who never read/don't care about the Bible. These stories are so good but i haven't seen a good one made past 1960

Oh this is gonna sound weird, but dude, you have been a positive light in my life and have rekindled in me how to be a Christian without ever saying a word about faith but by how one Carries themselves, and you exude this in every video. Thank you.
I’m getting there too. I’m struggling in my faith currently and have been made fun of for being a Christian in the past, so seeing Wendigoon be so easily open about his faith and seeing how successful and well-liked he is amongst both Christians and non-Christians is pretty cool to say the least.
It's not weird my friend, it's just how it is :)
Life is a trip.
@@zogwort1522 Hitchens vs. Lennox. I understand your stance now. Sounds like you are deep into it. This unanswerable question that always leads to nihilism it seems. I hope you find whatever it is that will ground you in this life. Or maybe you just knowing what you know is enough. Seems to be for most people. It just didn’t work for me. I’m not good at many things in life but I am pretty good at reading people. Having been on both sides of the aisle, even if this side is a little diluted, people are mostly happy and are grounded I’ve found. You can spot the difference in people very quickly and accurately as well. Although my beliefs may waver from others a bit in this religion, I just keep it to myself. Like most.

BIBLE ERRORS AND CONTRADICTIONS
The Bible is not historically accurate⬇️⬇️⬇️
Contradiction #1 Who incited David to count the fighting men of Israel? (a) God did (2 Samuel 24:1) (b) Satan did (1 Chronicles 21:1).
Contradiction #2 In that count how many fighting men were found in Israel? (a) Eight hundred thousand (2 Samuel 24:9). (b) One million, one hundred thousand (1 Chronicles 21:5).
Contradiction #3 How many fighting men were found in Judah? (a) Five hundred thousand (2 Samuel 24:9). (b) Four hundred and seventy thousand (1 Chronicles 21:5).
Contradiction #4 God sent his prophet to threaten David with how many years of famine? (a) Seven (2 Samuel 24:13). (b) Three (1 Chronicles 21:12).
Contradiction #5 How old was Ahaziah when he began to rule over Jerusalem? (a) Twenty-two (2 Kings 8:26 ). (b) Forty-two (2 Chronicles 22:2).
Also its not historically reliable.
huh
Yes, explaining how it's totes logical, and not an incoherent , nonsensical contradiction (and 100% extra-biblical assumption) to claim Jesus as "fully god, yet fully man", is COMPLETELY "objective" and factual...
...And it DEFINITELY isn't just the Christian variant of the exact same goofball, evidence-free "spiritual" jibberish we get from Islam, Mormonism, Hindus, Scientology, Raeliens, or the stoner down the street after the "sacrament" of way too much kratom and solvent-huffing...

But your faith wasn't strong enough to read the bible yourself?
(Papists, on the other hand, replace Scripture entirely, and would believe any absurdly blatant lie of an interpretation so long as it's endorsed by the Roman See, but that's another topic.)
So, maybe, instead of accusing those who are too busy, tired, or poorly educated to regularly read one of the most difficult books you can find on shelves today of lacking trust in our Lord, perhaps you should have enough humility to realize you probably aren't much of a Biblical scholar yourself. God bless.

You should watch The Chosen. It's a TV series about the life of Jesus. Highly recommend.

@@miyumixxx which is why people who discriminate aren't any better than any other sinner in the eyes of God

I struggled with it a lot too in my journey of faith.
I mean, I’m really just hoping that whoever is running this circus of a universe is not a dictator with very specific rules like the super religious christians like to claim lol
I honestly never knew that mormons had differing beliefs than those of typical Christians, which is genuinely super interesting.
Its crazy to think this man alone has made me rethink my faith. What a legend.

Have you read the Gospel of John?
@@sweatt4237 no I have not
@@akemi3517 If you are an avid reader it would probably only take you an hour and a half.
Take care! :)
The more you understand it the sooner you shall believe and rejoice, trust me
This weekend is my fiancé and I’s 7 year anniversary and we are celebrating with a getaway retreat by ourselves. I told him the only way the hot tub and wine could be better is with a new wendigoon video, and you totally came through. Thanks dad, you put the cherry on top of our anniversary celebration!

I do really find it kind of hard to not feel bad for Satan in some way. Not in a “he’s the victim” kind of way, but more of a “it’s entirely his fault he’s in this situation and he deserves it, but I feel bad that he can’t understand that.”
He’s a completely self destructive character that already had it all and wanted more.
Obviously the ship has sailed but I do wonder if even after his fall from grace if any form of redemption, even a small one, was ever possible for him, but he was simply incapable of it.
He's just the prime example that redemption is always possible but it requires for one to actually desire it. It doesn't just happen. God's love is massive and for everyone but if people reject that it's not on God.
exactly! I had the same thought but didn't know how to explain it.but u did it perfectly
i like takes like this because people a part of the religion are so scared of saying anything that might sound like they’re defending the devil because of the way people will look at them but as a human i think it’s our job to use empathy and ask questions
He understands he just doesn't care. Hence why he devoted the rest of his life to make yours hell.
@@ThatFunnyPlace Oh , you know Lucifer personally?? He told you all that himself? Goofy af.
Nice pfp 😳
@@lol3342 Thanks, my guy! Yours too! Kill La Kill was a lot of fun to watch
Milton is great, but Jesus isn't a created person.
Probably would be majestic.

Hearing the devil collectively lose his shit after realizing he lost was so satisfying.

Milton wrote him to be the perfect foil for Jesus in story.
His rant to Jesus at the end when he talks about how hes obsessed over Jesus since his birth gives me goosebumps every time. Satan stays taking L's 💯
Omg its crazy to think that it's only been 3 years and you've grown so much. Your videos got me through a lot. Much love
I’ll instantly drop anything if I see there’s a new Wendigoon video. Love your content and love to see a new video release. Your videos will always continue to cheer me up even when it’s the most wretched, nasty, disgusting stuff.
52:49 Satan really went "NIGHTMARE! NIGHTMARE! NIGHTMARE!" to Jesus lmao
Edit: Also , congrats on the announcement, it may be silly to some degree, but it gives me a certain level of catharsis to hear that someone as talented, grounded, and genuine as you is in a good place.
Visualizing this made me laugh harder than I should have hahaha
I like how the Devil has to literally go back to the drawing board with his Idea-Guys.
As a Christian, I respect you enjoying these videos. If more people would be respectful like that, the world would be a better place.
As someone who is unsure as to where I stand, good job you two at getting along
Tho I do know not every religious person is the same and I try to show basic respect, you still get those who think going to church will wash away any of those feelings, sins, thoughts or rule breaking you did during the week. You can always begin showing basic love, respect and open arms even to those you hate because honestly they may need it more than us. Hope this helped and you understand my points I hope, I'm not religious but did grow up religious and with faith. I don't know if God exists or not, one day I'll return to the earth that birthed me so I don't stress myself over whether my character and mere existence fits into the "one true faith" as many groups say so all in all I'm in a "fck it we ball" I can only ride the wave of life or drown in misery. Have a good day

Reading Paradise Lost and Paradise Regained and thinking Satan is the good guy is the same as reading Poe's "Black Cat" and thinking the main character is the good, normal, sane dude.
Also, people who read Lolita and think the man have a point 💀

@@dethbedsmolzwhent.t6498 It is a short story, from a POV of a violent and completely insane guy that kills his cat and later his wife too. The story is written from his POV, so you hear his justifications and excuses, at some point even guilt, but you as the reader know he is delusional and absoloutly insane and in no way a good, normal, sane dude
