    Thank you for making the video! I appreciate your thoughts and comparisons. I've used the Sony 16-35 f4 a lot for RE, and I also use the Laowa 12mm f2.8. I've kept one lens on one body and the other on another. I like to use the 16-35 as much as possible, but I frequently find myself switching to the 12mm when 16mm isn't quite wide enough. With that in mind, I just ordered the Sony 12-24 f4. I may not always need to go all the way to 12mm, but even having the option of 14-15mm will be very helpful, and not having to frequently switch cameras will make shoots much more efficient. I'll probably keep a 24-70 on the second body for detail shots, but I doubt I'll need to use that as often as I've switched between the 16-35 and 12mm.
    For video, I agree that fast panning with a 12mm looks pretty crazy. However, straight push-ins can simply look wide and impressive. Also, using 12mm with 4K can leave room for doing a fake shift in post.

      All good points! Yea for sure, the 12-24 definitely is a handy lens to have on board and it comes in handy for certain situations.

    Thanks for the video! Lots of great information. I am just starting out and I got a sony a6400, bc it's an aps-c sensor, I purchased the Laowa 9mm f2.8 to go with it, but I find it's not great with real estate for video, the image has visible noise even with ISO 400 and f2.8. Neither the camera or the lens have image stabilization. I was thinking of switching to the sony 10-18 mm f4 which also has stabilization. In your opinion would that be a better option? I need a wide angle lens for both photo and video, and since I'm just starting out, budget is a big consideration. If you could make a video for beginners like me about best lens on an aps-c camera, that would be awesome! I do have a dji Ronin SC for videos. I have been struggling with this and I would immensely appreciate your opinion. Thank you!

    Try the APS-C E 10-18mm f/4 OSS (15-27mm) BUT 12-18mm in full frame (18mm if you remove the light shield). Has threads for filters like a CPL. Super small, and sharp. To really test a lens do some star shots. I did Astro Milky Ways back in '15 before a 12mm was even thought about, even at 30s pinpoint stars in the corners but use 10s to get the best. You get 12mm to 27mm and OSS if off the sticks. At $900 a lens that started at $600. Just saying!!! I agree with all choices and that 14mm or wider can be too wide.

    Have you tried getting video zoomed out to 16mm on the 12-24? I'm a real estate photographer looking to go to a native Sony lens from a Canon 10-22 with an adapter on my Sony A7R3 (edge softness is really getting on my nerves). I'm afraid of losing the range of the 10-22 by going up to a 16-35. The 10mm has saved me on tiny bathrooms more times than I can count. @@kastrosiete that camera has an APS-C size sensor (or crop sensor). It is not a full frame sensor so it crops in on the image about 1.5x. I found the Canon 10-18mm a great lens (sharp & light, but not so fast). If you need a faster lens then the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 is excellent (sharp, heavier, but not too heavy, and easy to balance on a gimbal if necessary, fast enough for low light and more creative shots). If you are not a Canon shooter I would recommend finding something with a similar focal range.

    I have the 12-24mm F4 G lens for my a7iii at 16mm shooting interior aperture 7.1 shutter 1/100th iso 100 windows are sharp see through and blue skies.. If I shoot at 12mm I get a barrel affect and vignetting.. the only time I shoot super wide is if I am shooting 360 panos on my bento Gimbal head. I use a rokinon 8mm on my a6000. not a dfan of mannaport way too expensive and you really do not ow the phots/. on my gimbal head, I take 4 shots and I use flash. Want the 16-35mm GM but yet a bit expensive worth it though

    I have a Sony A7III and a Sigma 24-70mm lens ... my question is can I use these two tools alone to take a complete gallery of a property? or should I get a prime lens to get a wider focal length as well? If so, which lens should I get? My budget is very limited. Thanks so much for your time.

      24mm is just not wide enough. I would recommend a lens that is as wide as around 16mm. Whichever lens fits into your budget at that focal length.

    I'm in a dilema... I'm currently working in the Real Estate Photography: I have a Sony A6400 and a Sigma 16mm 1.4, and at the moment I don't know if worth keep buying APS-C lens for this camera, or I start to saving to update to a full frame camera and start to buying full frame lens.. whats your opinion?

    • @InsideRealEstatePhotography
      @InsideRealEstatePhotography  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would buy an apsc lens. You can always sell both the lens and the camera if you ever decide to go full frame and put the money towards that.

      Dean Patt for sure! It’s a good lens and will do you just fine. I’m just not a fan of its limited focal range. Fine lens to start out with though!

      Hey! I would probably look for a used Sony 10-18mm lens. You may be able to find one for close to that price!

    Thanks for sharing information regarding lenses. I am trying to get into real estate photography. I have an A7III, tripod and kit lens (28-70mm f/3.5-5.6). Is it possible to start photography with these equipment, especially the lens?

    • @InsideRealEstatePhotography
      @InsideRealEstatePhotography  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately that lens isn't going to be wide enough. You need something around 16mm or so on the wide end. 28mm with the lens you have is going to be way too tight and you won't be able to capture the whole room.

      Do you have a full frame camera or crop sensor? 35mm is way too tight for real estate photography. It could be useful for some detail shots here and there but to capture a room it’s very tight. The 20mm would be your best choice out of those three but even 20mm on a full frame is a little tight but you could get away with it.

      You said your on the canon 90D right? That’s a crop sensor so you’ll definitely want to go with 11-16. 17mm will not be wide enough on a crop sensor. It’s equivalent to like 25mm on a full frame camera.
