I have the upgraded "Opera" version of the Tokina 16-28 arriving this week and it will be interesting to see the difference, if any, on my D750 compared to my current model.

I have an original canon 5d, a Sony a6000 and an a6100 and want to get started. Wondering whether I can get sufficiently good results with the 5d and Tokina lens and use the Sony for videos. I’ve been watching a couple 6D mark I bodies on Craigslist for short money….

You're very welcome! If you're looking to get into REP then you should start with the right gear for your budget, but knowing "why" certain gear is preferred over others is more important than just "what" gear to buy. Iv been looking into buying a Used camera. Problem is I learned companies like Nikon won’t fix your camera if it isn’t a USA version and won’t take money out of pocket either . So you have to ship across seas to get things fixed.
I also wonder what happens with 3rd party repair shops, meaning, if they are limited to access for parts and can’t fully repair newer items .
I was going to get a good price on a camera but it was Canadian and I missed out. I don’t really want to deal with any paperweights. Iv never had to repair a camera and I never bought used so now I have to weight the pros and cons of repairs in this case
Rich, wonderful job as always. Upon your recommendation, I just upgraded to the Sony A7iii, but I have a "flambient" question for you. If I set the Sony for five bracketed photos for the ambient shot (to blend later in post), the camera will fire the five shots. Then, I want to shoot a single shot with the flash, but unlike my old camera, when I turn on the flash and fire the Sony, it's still shooting the five. I know I can switch between single shot and five shots in the menu, but that back and forth on every shot will really slow me down. Is there a short cut you recommend with the Sony A7iii? One where I can shoot the give ambient, then immediately shoot the one for flash?? LMK and thanks in advance. I appreciate you!
Thanks! But I'm not Rich, I'm Nathan :) Not sure why you are shooting five ambient shots, you only need one, and using a mirrorless camera you can see what exposure that should be based on the histogram readings I talk about in my interiors e-book, here's a link if you'd like to check that out: amzn.to/3uP9SCy

@@NathanCoolPhoto Im curious about the distortion on the Tokina lens you mentioned. Does lightroom correct it with a click or do you have to manually straighten the in lightroom? Im trying to find a good real esate lens for Canon ef that does has the least amount of distortion. Thanks.
Will you save money with the Z9 because it has no shutter therefore no replacing camera bodies from worn out shutter? The Z mount is big enough to support medium format sensors, do you think Nikon did this on purpose to add medium format in the future? I don't think there is any feature on the Z9 that'd make it cost-effective for real estate photography. I could buy 5 of my recommended cameras for the price of just one Z9.

Do you think the Tokina Opera 16-28mm is good for some wedding shots? Not for primary use but in some situations on the dance floor it would be nice to have a wide angle lens, what do you think? I found one for $500 brand new,
Not if handheld. Too heavy, no vibration reduction. Great for real estate interiors, but wouldn't recommend for anything off a tripod.
Hi Nathan, I have made the move over to Fujifilm medium format with the GFX 50 R. Got a super great deal and could not pass it up. One of my first lens purchases was the GF 23mm F4.0. Will that be wide enough for interior work or should I be looking at something wider than this? I was thinking about the new Fringer adapter EF to GF mount adapter and getting a wider lens if needed. Also wanted to say Thanks for all of the great content in your videos as well. Made me realize that I have some more work to do before I put myself out there for this type of work. Im close but not quite there yet. Also wanted to know which of you books covers the editing process in PS along with the lighting techniques. Or is it two books. Thanks
Hi Chris, glad you like this video! That's a lot of camera for real estate photography work, but you can pretty much half the focal length on your medium format to gauge full frame equivalence, so you'd be around 12mm full frame equivalence, or perhaps 15 or 16mm worst case. There's a lot to using focal length and with compositions, etc. While I cover quite a bit of this in my books, I would recommend taking a look at my online course at prointeriors.nathancool.com which covers a lot in one place.
@@NathanCoolPhoto Yeah, you're right about it being a lot of camera but I do love it though. So if I remember this right I would multiply the sensor by .79 x focal length of the lens and that would make the 23mm a 18mm if I set it to 35mm mode. I have always wanted Medium format and when the opportunity presented itself, well I jumped on it. After years of shooting Canon it was time for a change. So I know you mentioned FF cameras for your real estate work and I understand why but have you ever tried crop sensors for it at all? Like you said cameras today have come a long way. I thought the fuji XH2S could be a nice addition also. I Wish fuji made FF cameras but I can understand why they stay out of the FF wars today. Seems like every time you get settled in with one they announce another. I almost forgot. Your Video on the flash triggers was excellent. I have the the Flashpoint AD 400 Pro and just use my X pro trigger for Canon on the Fuji and now AWB is correct in camera. I would have never guessed that one. Thanks
Is going from m43 to FF a worthy upgrade for photography? I’ve been shooting with G9 with great results and happy clients but sometimes feel like I’m missing out not going full frame.

I still use my GH4 with an Olympus 7-14 2.8 Pro lens and get nothing but comments on the high-quality images it produces. Sometimes use the GH5 but more for video tours.
I use the Olympus EM-5 mii, which is similar. I also use the 7-14. Used the 9-18 before, but the 7-14 is a much better lens.
What about the Rokinon 14mm 2.8 for the Nikon z series cameras? It’s $299 new or under $200 used.
Rokinon/Samyang are not high enough quality that I could recommend them for real estate photography; moreover, popping a low quality lens on a high-quality camera defeats the purpose of spending the money for that camera...it's like putting bicycle tires on a Ferrari ;) With that said, I do recommend the Samyang 12mm f/2.8 for 360 virtual tours, but not for standard REP.
I used the AF version for a month then sent it back to Amazon. Great value, but the image quality wasn’t up to my expectations. Not to mention Lightroom didn’t include its Lens profile.
What do you think about Canon70D Nathan?

I wanted to get the Canon R6 Mark II, but on some reviews it said I can only use Canon lenses with that camera, is that true?
