Could we safely assume that given the rest of his work, if he used goat skin he wouldn't have the bubble issue? Sadly, some of us do not use and never will use Instagram. Is there any way to contact him other than that venue?

I am with you, though trimming the ribbons to a shorter length is easy, so its actually cool that you can adjust them to your liking if you so desire.
