I want to encourage you all to give a little back to Mr. Frost for his generosity in showing us his hard won results in craftsmanship. There are not many who are willing to share so freely. Thank you Jeremiah.

Thanks so much for your work in these videos brother. Your style made it so simple to get started and do an acceptable job on my first repair/rebind. I can’t wait to do more and get these bibles preaching again!

Great to see your videos. I’m still absolutely loving my Bible. Having your work in my hand just really made me appreciate what a true craftsman you are. Thank you. (I had the New Testament that originally the Masonic symbol on the cover)

Man you are awesome. I was impressed when I first found your videos, but now that I've tried a couple myself, I'm even more impressed. I think this is the third comment I've left on various videos of yours today, but I just have a new appreciation greater than I already had since I've tried it myself and realize how easy it is to get something wrong. Both of mine so far haven't been long enough once I did the fold over.
Meaning the yap on my my long edge is always too close to my block once I put it in then I planned on. So I get about what I was going for on the yap for the top and bottom, but the long edge yap is much smaller than the other yaps. I can't imagine how bad my first attempts would be if we didn't have your videos. I'm hoping by attempt 10 I have something that I go "yea... I would be comfortable letting someone else see this" haha

Thanks so much for showing the oxford hollow. So helpful.
How thin in millimeters is the outer leather and the liner leather? If I don't want a fold over, but instead a raw edge type rebind with liner the same size as cover leather, should the cover leather be thicker than with the fold over style?

Thanks again! Your generous with your tradecraft, I'm excited to do some rebinds, they so far are noticably better each batch I attempt, so far they stay on my shelf, someday the quality could be offered for others, I don't usually have much time, I'm a union ironworker.

You have awesome videos! I need my bible rebound and am wanting to do it myself. Your videos are inspiring me to want to do this. I am eapecially interested in rebinding others Bibles so they can continue to study them, preach with them, to share the gospel with others.
Great videos and i hope i am able to do this.

Question: is craft Tex the paper used for your spine? In not what and where can we find it and what is it called?

Hi Jeremiah. First, thank for your videos, I am enjoying them. I have a little leather experience that I picked up with the covid shut down. Mostly wallets and such. I was shopping for a new bible and just was not happy with the lack of good leather covered bibles so I thought I'd look into doing it myself and found you. I have a couple questions. What weight leather do you use for the cover and liner? (It looks pretty thin. Another question, I would like to do a cover not with the fold over technique that you use, but one with burnished edges and hand stitch the edges...is that possible with a little thicker leather you can burnish or does it hinder the bible from laying flat? Thanks again

Another great video, thank you! Can you let us know what the type that you use is called, and what size(s) you use for the spine?

Quick question for you, when you say that they pre skive the leather for you, is that a special request that you have to ask them to do each time? And how much extra does it cost you?

Thank you so much, Jeremiah!! I ordered your Oxford hollow material today through your link, and am eager to try it. But I was wondering about the Kraft Tex I've seen you use in a previous video. As thin and floppy as this camo leather is, I am curious why you didn't use the cover stiffener paper inside the cover of this Bible.

    • @King-Bane

I can't seem to find the material which one is it?

  • @rcschafer2281
    @rcschafer2281 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hey Jeremiah. Is the Oxford hollow material used the Kraft Tex? It doesn’t look like what you have there with the paper backing.

  • @MansterBear

Can you tell us the diameter of that bigger round that you used for the corners on the cover?
I thought "If I have a 1/4" hangover between my liner and corner, my outter radius should be 1/4" bigger than my liner radius"... but that's apparently not how it works since i'm 0 for 2 on good corners for my first 2 rebinds.
When you mark you spine on your cover, do you add anything to it or do you do the exact width that you measured on the block?

Do you glue the block to the Oxford hollow or just to the liner tabs?

Book spine is glued to the Oxford hollow as well as the liner tabs.

I use a Kingsley Machine, but there are better machines out there. I forget the names but if you look around for a Hot press machine that has at type holder, it'll work just fine, no matter the brand.
