The reason the vagons look like Russian, is because Armenia signed a concession treaty with Russian railways (long ago)) in 2008), transferring the management of Armenian railways to the 'South-Caucasian railway, LLC - 100% daughter company of thev Russian railways for 30 years (with possible prolongation for 10 more years if both sides agreed). So it's rather not a shame (like they bought Russian vagons), it's rather the direct evidence (like, in this case the vagons have to be looking so)

When I was the child, I traveled with my parents from Russia to Armenia and back once a year. We played cards and read the books, and saw a beautiful views. ❤
Great overview on the ride from Yerevan to Tbilisi. We hope to travel that route one of these days. We always prefer trains over buses for the freedom to move around and for the restrooms! Also, it's not weird at all to have a connection between a shopping mall and a transportation hub; it happens elsewhere and usually makes good economic sense. For example, in Wrocław Poland the bus station is located inside and below the huge Wroclavia shopping complex... 🙂
thank you. Hope you can make it, its really great train journey from Yerevan to Tbilisi, have done it few times and always enjoyed it! so hope you enjoy it too 👍
Spellbinding ! Another sensational journey by land . No doubt, the shedule was devised with passengers heading for Batumi in mind . How was Tblisi in the wee hours ?
Yes for people going to batumi is planned quite ok but still it wouod be good to change it to be in tbilisi later. We took a taxi straight from the train station to the hotel, but in general tbilisi in wee hours is all right, it didnt feel dangerous.
On the color of train - I don’t think it’s just a matter of color. South Caucasus Railway LLC is owned by Russian Railways LLC in 100% of capital. So the trains are fully provided and supported by the owner.
What's the point in taking a sleeper train that takes five hours longer than a coach and arrives in Tbilisi at 02:15 hrs? You still have to pay for the night of arrival at your hotel.
Everybody like something else. Its not always about to get somewhere as fast as possible but enjoy the journey. We showed both options so people can compare it and choose the right one for them
@@Letsgobyland Sorry to labour the point but what was your point of having sleeper berths? Your journey comfort was interrupted for 30 minutes while en route, by the Armenian immigration officers and 90 minutes at the Georgian border where you had to alight the train. You also said that Tbilisi was only two hours from the border. I know the train was continuing to Batusi making a sleeping berth more practical, but surely a comfortable seat would have sufficed for the Yerevan to Tbilisi section of the trip. You really didn't maximise on the full advantage of having a sleeper berth.
we took this train but in reverse, depart Tbilisi at night, arrived Yerevan the next morning. I noticed in the timetable the opposite had odd hour timing for a sleeper train.
Everything is great about this video apart from the remark about Russian trains being the same color. RZD are owner of the Armenian railways after all... but some people cant resist making a negative remark related to Rusaia 😅 politicising everything.
I wonder how the equipment got there. I can't imagine Azerbaijan allow equipment for Armenia to to transit Azerbaijan buy you never know. Georgia doesn't have a railway connection to Russia. so unless the cars were shipped there across the Black Sea that would but out as well.
Georgia has a railway connection with Russia, it just doesn't have regular services. I don't know the state of the rails but it is the most likely alternative
@@fresagrus4490 The connection was through Abkhazia which is definitely closed. Most of the line south of Sukum has been removed in some areas, and all the catenary has been stripped. Saw this first hand when I was in Abkhazia in 2018. There are still trains from Moscow to Sukum , I think once or twice a week. Abkhazia is an interesting place and very different than the three remaining "breakaway republics", Transnistria, Abkhazia, and Ossetia. Ossetia is mostly just a typical North Caucasus Russian area, Transnistria is some sort of ex Soviet nostalgiacs money laundering very pleasant fantisy land while Abkhazia is more the wild west.
