What an unbearable introduction. Thomas, why would you put such a long intro on a video when you must realize that the people searching for this video are looking for answers. They aren't looking for a vlog or diary type of video. They just want to solve a problem. Why not solve their problem, and then maybe go into the personal stuff. Surely you find these types of videos frustrating when you are looking for information on You Tube yourself, right?
04:12 The **Control** key (Control on Windows KB), and the **Command** key (Alt on Windows KB), both get the **Option** action ? And Option (Windows logo on Windows KB) key gets the Command action. **No question mark here.** On all my Windows keyboards, the bottom row from left to right starts with **[Ctrl] [Windows logo] [Alt]** . And on my Apple Magic keyboard with **[control] [option] [command]** So it should be : Ctrl-key on KB = **"Control Key:", stays [Control] in dropdown menu**
Thank you for this.. The reverse is true for me, by way of computer history. Lifelong PC user, bought a MAC for familiarity (having learned it some in collage) but couldn't figure out how to remap the keys to the more familiar WinKeyboard which I attached to replace the wireless mac keyboard. This video helped me immensely, thank you for sharing it!
For some reason this isn't working for me. The keyboard shortcut for Find in Google Sheets on my Mac is "Command F". I switched the Command Key to Control so it would be "Control F" like on a PC, but it's still not working.
I can't see the option with Fn key ( the last one of those 5 options) , I updated to 10.15.7 macOS some days ago . I want to change Fn to Control on a logitech external keyboard .
Thank you thank you thank you! This saved a lot of time and trouble! This is also incredibly helpful if you are using a KVM setup with one Windows machine and one Mac.
Do the “F” functions still work the same on a Mac if I were to use a PC keyboard? That’s my main concern. I’m currently looking at the keychron K4 V2 but im not completely sold on it. Thanks in advance!
Hey guys.. maybe someone here can help me. Im trying to use my corsair keyboard on a Mac, which I used on my windows pc before. The problem is that some keys on the keyboard have a second function which I can't delete. For example my space button. It does a space between words but it also does what the F8 button would normally do (start/pause). The same issue is with my left windows button. Hitting it does the command function but also the function of the F10 button (sound on/off). How can I remove this second function? Thx for help!
What I want to do is make a PC keyboard function like a Mac's when it comes to typing characters with diacritical marks--you know í, è, ú, ö, etc. On the Mac you simply hold down the key and and then select the number that appears over the character. On a PC you have to first time, for example, Control-[apostrophe] or [colon] or [tilde] or whichever character will convert to the desired diacritical mark, and then you type the letter over which you want it placed. I bought a convertible all-in-one PC laptop recently because Apple doesn't manufacture such a device, and I love the laptop but for that one particular shortcoming. I can adjust to the location of the Control, Alt, and Command keys, but I hate having to use the Control-[diacritical mark]-then-letter sequence on the PC. I'd be fine with it if I could simply define a special keyboard I could switch to when I need to type a document containing those letters. Do you know how to do any of that?
This info is totally useless if you want to remap FN Key to the LEFT OPTION key and vice-versa. Neither with software is possible (karabiner-elements, etc)
Tutorial starts at 3:05. Thanks.
God Bless You
he talks WAYYY too much
