    My new 1290 R is at the dealer right now being prepared with all the extra stuff and goodies you want on this beauty😉 Akra, topcase, 2 auxiliary lights,heated grips and seats , etc.
    I can’t wait to pick it up and start riding with it…
    I have swapped my 2018 S (50.000 km) for the 2021 R ( 24.000 km in the Odometer)
    My first KTM was a 1090 S 2017 ( also a very nice bike with a lot of grunt)
    Sold it after 25.000 km for the 1290S.
    I will come back to you in October to inform you about my experienced on the R 👍

      @@7arkhwf I have 40,000 km with this bike now. The new engine runs smooth as butter - this year I rode 24,000 km with the new engine. The water pump seal needed replacement - cheap part and normally a warranty claim but I ended up doing it myself with some friendly help from a friend as I did not have much down time between two trips to go to the dealer

      After two months and 4000 km it’s about time to report my findings as promised 😉the R has the new tankposition ( low on either side) and this bike is much lighter in handling and because of the 21” frontwheel the flickability is really amazing.
      The seat is a bit higher than the S and if you’re a shortie it could become a bit awkward to handle this bike
      The engine makes me smile every time I accelerate with this beast
      The suspension is notably better than the S
      I have been told that the R suspension is more expensive than the electronic version of the S
      In the Netherlands there are a lot of obstacles on the road ( speed bumps)
      The R is not impressed at all 😉
      Last weekend I’ve made a trip to Germany with my mate and we have seen a lot of curves😀
      The R is a real pleasure to ride in these German Hills around the Rhine
      So far no complaints and I am looking forward to 2025
      For now, I wish you all a safe journey🏍️👋

    I find every time I ride my KTM 2022 1290 SAR so addicting with it's power but yet so manageable it suits me for what I use it for and I can have a blast at the same time, it brings out the kid in me at 64 years old and with the technology that KTM puts in the tech pack, of this beast, it looks out for you when you make mistakes better than any other bike in its class. I have to remind myself it's not a dirt bike, it's a beast of an adventure bike that is so capable, and still needs to be respected because it's a powerful beast. Did I mention it's fun to ride?

    I have the same model. Fantastic bike love it. Just had warped front rotors and pads replaced under warranty at 10000km. Problem occurred approximately 4000km Brembo brakes so don’t know why. Rode my 1250 pretty hard with Brembo with no issues. Also had coolant leak. Topped up twice so far. Been checked apparently no issues?? Only other issue is bike falls over sometimes. 😢

    • @MotoVibes
      @MotoVibes  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for sharing your experience- the warped rotors are an issue than some had on the predecessors too. Coolant should not leak - maybe check the seal around the water pump - Stephan had this issue on his rental bikes - an easy fix with a new seal and something KTM should do under warranty. As for the falling over part - practice and off-road trainings help to minimize those - my current bike sees a lot less ground time than my first 1290 SAS that had to endure my learning curve 😂

    • @janisblack2183
      @janisblack2183 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Usually a problem like yours is not the callipers but sub standard rotors that are stock from the factory. Every year after a new model is launched, engineers collaborate with finance specialists to cut 15% on the cost of build. Motorcycle manufacturers follow this pattern of doing business after the world wide major automotive corporations. Therefore after 3 yrs in production, the 4th year of that model costs roughly 48% of the original cost to build. The most expensive factor of any new model of any vehicle is engineering. They do this in order to offset those initial high costs to increase profit margins.
      Unfortunately, time and time again, as a retired mechanic, I’ve seen junk rotors, pads and cheap tires, along with mediocre bearings, seals and races. All these things will not necessarily make you crash, but they will wear out quicker.
      My advice? Go aftermarket it’s worth the price for longevity. Subscribe to a forum or club of your model of motorcycle and see what your peers are saying.
      In the meantime check these things for you particular situation. When your rotors warp, they can affect your brake pads to wear out faster, your callipers to chatter therefore wearing out the bushing/bearing/ or housing, and the bearing in the hub of your wheel. Check those items, but for the most part just get good rotors and brake pads and the callipers and wheel hub should last the lifetime of the motorcycle until a major rebuild of engine transmission under normal use for the type of motorcycle. I personally use ceramic brake pads and aftermarket premium rotors that have a higher nickel content for hardness. 4000 kms of use on rotors/pads tells me they are junk from the factory. 😮😢

      @@christopher54179 the KTM 1290 Super Adventure R is a great bike, especially for the guys who are taller and more experienced in off road adventure. I like the fact that it’s more raw power and no nonsense when compared to other ADV bikes. The price is right too. All machines have their irks and quirks, if you ride them you’re going to have to replace those irks every so often. The key issue is the fact that if that make and model fits you, and you love it, then keep it because it’s worth it. 👍😃

For touring I tend to go with 50:50 tires for the longevity- here I am looking for at least 5000 km or more - I have had the Mitas E-07+ multiple times, the metzler Karoo 4 and the Heidenau K60 Ranger and just now the relatively new Dunlop Trailmax Raid - the last 2 are my favorites for now. The Dunlop is excellent (the best of the 4) on the pavement even in wet conditions and still provides 50/50 performance on gravel while still giving good longevity of at least 6000 km (depending on how hard you are on the throttle) - the Heidenau offers larger block pattern for slightly better off-road performance over the Dunlop - however my rear tire did not survive a 500 km autobahn ride despite staying below the max speed rating of 160 kph- the Dunlop is rated for 190 kph. @@TheFbiFilesRepeat yeah. That is not something I would be too worried about despite my engine failure- the big majority of 1290 have no engine problems at all 😉

      The next successor is rumored for 2024 with the 1390 Super Adventure - this may be more an engine upgrade and rework of the body design

      yep. kills resale value when you want to upgrade to new model since your slightly new bike is now 'old'.

      @@1compaqedr8 yeah. But you can get good deals on brand new bikes if you buy the predecessor once the new bike is in the show rooms. That why I bought the 2020 1290 SAR when the 2021 was just announced and upgraded in 2022 to the current model

      I’ve been trying to decide if I should buy a leftover 2023 or wait for the 2025 bikes.
