This is one of the best diy longboards I've ever seen and you actual know things about longboards unlike a lot of people who have built longboards on youtube
this is got to be the best longboard diy video on youtube because everybody ive seen on youtube who made a long board they made it maybe too wide or too narrow or made it short well not that short its seems like they made it short and this one seems like the perfect one well its my opion on it so thats what i think about this video
Duuuuuuudde, the orange wheels look like a thousand bucks! Very nice pick! I'd choose a different wood but otherwise liked your video very much. By the way I'm not familiar with the spray grip, does it wear out? if so, how often do you need to reapply it?
The spray grip i use is pretty durable. It's mostly used for bathroom floors as it can be slippery. It's been almost half a year since then and the grip is still there. I'd recommend another type of spray grip called lucid grip, made specifically for spraying skateboard decks.
I've built a board at tombalek myself and we put an oil finish as a protective coating, but ever since i've dinged up my board and re-cut it to a different shape leaving the sides of the board exposed to bare wood. I've done a paintjob and grip tape on the top. Was considering to add another layer of lacquer to the bottom to waterproof it a little more, do you think this is necessary? And will the Pylox brand spray lacquer at Home-fix work?
I built a solid wood cruiser board and uploaded a process video for it as well. I hope it will be of help to anyone wanting to make one. Feel free to get in touch if anyone needs any help
I ride a longboard myself, a Sector 9 Lacey to be precise. Loving how this initiative or workshop is available for people in SG! Always dying to try making my own board. Whats ur board measurement?
It's been almost a year since i've built it and its still pretty rough! I used a rather good quality one and since i don't drag my feet on the board too much, it lessens the eroding of the grip. I'd rather spray on a clear grip than paste grip tape on it as it'll cover up the beautiful wood under it.
RealityCrafts You made an awesome board so do as you please my man. The clear grip comes out pretty transclucent, I like clear grip to put pictures underneath!
I want to build a longboard with my dad but where i live we dont have birch or maple sheets so what wood type would you suggest that will last a long time and be easy to shape while im making the longboard?
beautiful board ! Well made (beautiful logo). bring a new step and make it electric with 2 motors fast and powerful for steep hills (and great brakes), huge battery exchangeable in 1 click and... foldable so you can bring it into airplanes when travelling into your backpack.
I'm not sure what you think of as overpriced, but there are plenty of dancers available, also in Europe. I'm sure that a simple Google search for skateshops in your country will provide you with plenty of options to choose from.
all of these diy longboard videos are cool and all but why does everyone insist on making them ridiculously thick? use stronger wood and less of it. it'll make the board lighter and easier to tote around places where you can't skate.
In order to get good flex, professional companies usually use 7 plys of veneer, which is an extremely thin wood. Their wood is probably just a little too thick. Plus, most people who make these are woodworkers, not skaters.
to be honest, this longboard doesn’t look too thick to me. that’s just my opinion though. i haven’t been skating for too long, not as long as a lot of skaters in my area at least, who have been skating for around 3+ years
could you give us the Template of your longboard please ? i will do one but i need a tempate and i love the designe and the shape of yours ! thank you :) great video by the way !
because the top of the board will lose a lot of it's grip when it gets wet. So then you're basically standing on a slippery wet piece of wood.(phrasing lol) and then you can really use concave to stay on to board (because concave will generally help locked in your feet due to it's shape.
True, but there's something about 'clear griptabe' that I really don't like. I don't know what it is, but it just puts me off everytime. Yet I really love to see the wood. Guess I'm just weird than...
You can take the class there for $60 i think, $40 for students. The materials for the deck itself is $90 for basic fibreglass composite (as shown in the video).
400 grit wasn't necesary. 200 would have been enough. when you apply lacquer, the fibres of the wood will expand so you're going to have to sand it again anyway for the second layer. just a tip
Okky Martrio finally a reason for him the get rid of the bear trucks and orangutan wheels, calibers and flywheels are best for eskate as well as normal longboarding tbh
Fibreglass makes the board a little more springy, and will prevent delamination. Although i should try carbon fiber instead since it's stronger than fibreglass.
I also like the springy effect of fibreglass. But fiber is most effective on the top and bottom of the board (sadly, it would destroy your nice wood finish, so the best Option would be to put a thin veneer as a top layer). Also, woven fibreglass isnt as nice and effective as straight, one-directional ( 0°, put on the bottom to regulate flex) or two-directional (+/-45°, put on top AND bottom to prevent torsion) fibre. Carbon fibre is nice to get stiff boards, it doesn't provide a nice flex like fibreglass. You shouldn't worry about delamination between wood layers if using epoxy (be sure to wash out oily wood with thinner). Have a nice weekend!
Nice board, but a person with access to a 40,000$ shop doesn't really need an instruction manual. A how to with common tools would've been much more appropriate.
That is the devil star and I'm Christian so that offends me because I thought it was guna be some normal review but when it reached the design part I couldn't watch it sorry but apart from that it was a good longboard
Minus the music, one of the better how to videos for longboards.
Finally someone that can longboard and has a helpful guide
this is by far one of the best diy videos on youtube great build
Thanks for watching!
Finally someone with skateboard knowledge AND wood working skills
This is one of the best diy longboards I've ever seen and you actual know things about longboards unlike a lot of people who have built longboards on youtube
Thank you, more cool projects coming soon!
Beautiful choice of wood. Nice build and finish.
this is got to be the best longboard diy video on youtube because

or made it short well not that short its seems like they made it short and this one

Damn that means a lot, thanks for watching!
+RealityCrafts can you please provide us with the exact dimensions. The board looks awesome. Great job with the fiberglass
this video is actually great so helpful since I'm probably going to do exactly what you did, btw how did you get the curve/concave shape?
Nicest DIY board I've seen
Really like the finish you got on the board. Looks really good :D
Wow that looks really great!
Looks awesome. You skipped the shaping part in total. How did you create the mold for the press etc?
tanja kimmel the press is commercial if you would want to do it yourself watch every third Thursdays video on how to make a press
Could you maybe provide a link? I can't seem to find the video anywhere.

Yep, lacquer will make the wood waterproof. Pylox brand's lacquer works fine.
Any recommendations on a lacquer/ sealer?
I built a solid wood cruiser board and uploaded a process video for it as well. I hope it will be of help to anyone wanting to make one. Feel free to get in touch if anyone needs any help
i like the way you did the logo!
hey man love what you did but canu please tell me what you used to resaw the wood into thinner ones
Simon lemon bandsaw
looks great man... congratulations
I must of missed the part you fiberglassed it?
Work of art 👍🏼👌🏼👍🏼
quick question +RealityCrafts idk if i missed this but did you glue the pieces of wood together with the fiberglass in between or did you use resin?
The wood pieces were bonded with a layer of fiberglass cloth and resin as my adhesive.
ok sweet, thanks
Good job man, gotta make my own!
I ride a longboard myself, a Sector 9 Lacey to be precise. Loving how this initiative or workshop is available for people in SG! Always dying to try making my own board. Whats ur board measurement?
Hi there, my board measures around 115cm long, and 24cm wide. It's a little bit on the longer side, as i'd like more room for dancing.
+RealityCrafts thats awesome! Personally preference anyway! :)
Sad to see you put spray on grit on such a nice board.. a sheet of clear griptape is like $10.. hows it holding up?
It's been almost a year since i've built it and its still pretty rough! I used a rather good quality one and since i don't drag my feet on the board too much, it lessens the eroding of the grip. Great longboard !!!
Thank you!
I want to build a longboard with my dad but where i live we dont have birch or maple sheets so what wood type would you suggest that will last a long time and be easy to shape while im making the longboard?
you can make the board out of a solid piece of wood if your using it just to cruise. just make sure its strong
hi there i was just wondering what difference it would make applying fiberglass to the top and bottom instead of in between layers?
Florinda Corser if it where on top it would get damaged and also fiberglass breaks down in the sun so it would eventually break
beautiful board ! Well made (beautiful logo). bring a new step and make it electric with 2 motors fast and powerful for steep hills (and great brakes), huge battery exchangeable in 1 click and... foldable so you can bring it into airplanes when travelling into your backpack.
Good suggestion! I might make an electric one in future!
Amazing job !
Thank you!
Hello, what is wood? Thanks
I want to build a longboard
but this one player keeps stealing my fibreglass...
Is it the Resin27?
RealityCrafts who's the resin27?
Some say he was the first Fiberglass long board builder...
TTXD Gaming haha
MrThreegifts thghhj
Such a grate looking wood =)
wilgarcia1 grate...great
ikr
Hey, quick queshh..what kind of sticker did u use for that stencil?
Just ol' fashion masking tape.
Ta re baga amiguo!
did he use polish resin to hold it together?
We used epoxy resin to adhere the planks together.
do i have to sand the waterproof coating? or just apply like a paint
No need to sand, it can be applied straight away.
RealityCrafts kk thanks
how much it will cost to buy a longboard dancer deck to Europe? I can`t find from where to buy in Europe or here everything is so overpriced !
I'm not sure what you think of as overpriced, but there are plenty of dancers available, also in Europe. I'm sure that a simple Google search for skateshops in your country will provide you with plenty of options to choose from.
Love the board can i get the template
Very nice!
I'd love to have a Longboard

i would make so many boards if I had all this stuff
could you give us the Template of your longboard please ? i will do one but i need a tempate and i love the designe and the shape of yours ! thank you :) great video by the way !
How did u curve it
love your work...I subscribed to your channel Sir
Thank you good sir! More great projects coming soon!
excellent...cant wait!
you forgot to add concave to the deck. concave is really essential, especially for cruising at a bit higher speeds or riding in rain.
Actually there is a slight concave on the deck. I guess the camera did not capture it well.
Auke why is concave essential while riding in the rain?
because the top of the board will lose a lot of it's grip when it gets wet. So then you're basically standing on a slippery wet piece of wood.(phrasing lol) and then you can really use concave to stay on to board (because concave will generally help locked in your feet due to it's shape.
Auke i isnt geting slipery if you have a regular deck with griptape but concave helps a bit
Auke it actually is concaved if you look
nice board but you have forgot the grip no ? :)
I did a spray on grip for the board.
he used spray grit, it's clear so you didn't see it
+RealityCrafts how much for one
i'm glad he used it, black grip tape would ruin the beauty of that wood.
True, but there's something about 'clear griptabe' that I really don't like. I don't know what it is, but it just puts me off everytime. Yet I really love to see the wood. Guess I'm just weird than...
Grip tape ???
Twariq Dustagheer He used a spray Grip if you payed attention 😑😑
He used spray grip but let’s all just admit it, spray grip sucks
what was the music
wath song ar 6:45
Last Song name??!?!!!????
measurements?
Nice =) 🤙
Epic!!!!👍
how much all the materials ? please answer me
You can take the class there for $60 i think, $40 for students. The materials for the deck itself is $90 for basic fibreglass composite (as shown in the video).
+iAM Enrico thanks
woow man...That's toooo much...i build the deck about 10$
yassine berguita I'm sure you do.
when rounding edges and you dont have a router just put sandpaper in a 1 inch PVC pipe and run it along the edges
Curvature at the nose and tail is incorrect for that length of a longboard or longboard in general. But still a great design and board!
I see, thanks for pointing that out!
+RealityCrafts No problem!
whats wrong with it?
Are you from Singapore? Haha
Haha yep!
RealityCrafts Cool bro! I am also keen on building one. Which workshop do you go to?
I work in a workshop makerspace so i do my projects there. You can look for Guangjun at Tombalek, his facebook is in the link's description.
Thanks bro!
Make a trick board next
Not Matthew a skateboard?
Matthew Bellefeuille they are extremely hard to make due to all the advanced curvs
can I have the board I really want one
Sorry this board is for personal use. You can make one with the given tools! It's actually quite easy.
Y but I'm a kid
But I see how it is 😢😢😢😢
+Martin Guzman just ask your parents
Why does that matter? I'm 14 and I've built two, what's the problem?
400 grit wasn't necesary. 200 would have been enough. when you apply lacquer, the fibres of the wood will expand so you're going to have to sand it again anyway for the second layer. just a tip
Thanks for the info! I guess it's just a habit of mine to sand my woodworking projects up to 400 to remove all the fine scratches.
cool muzic
sana magkameron din ako ng longboard😥
make it an electric motor board. it would be great
Okky Martrio finally a reason for him the get rid of the bear trucks and orangutan wheels, calibers and flywheels are best for eskate as well as normal longboarding tbh
What is it - Nyatoh and Balsa??? Google translator is not translating.... Sorry, I'm from Russia...
Павел Весельчак They are types of wood :)
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nyatoh

Tom Murphy, Thank you dude!!!
dude you put the trucks on the opiset way
It's a reverse kingpin truck, it's supposed to be facing outwards.
realy? i have didn't knew that
to me, I would have put the stencil on the top.
that nice look wont last long if your on the road
Thankfully i'm on the pavements most of the time!
really nice work, although the fibreglass isnt very effective.

Carbon fibre is nice to get stiff boards, it doesn't provide a nice flex like fibreglass.
You shouldn't worry about delamination between wood layers if using epoxy (be sure to wash out oily wood with thinner).
Have a nice weekend!
Thanks for watching! Very useful info.
kewl
Rip griptape
Nice board, but a person with access to a 40,000$ shop doesn't really need an instruction manual. A how to with common tools would've been much more appropriate.
Hmm you're right. If i make another one in future, i'll try to use common tools so that others can have a rough idea on how it goes with normal tools.
$40,000 is a low guess those are industrial planers and saws.
Most of these things can be done with regular cheap tools
im making my own long board and im going to sell it for 50$ its called the wave board
Why is there a pentagram is he satanic?
No haha, i just see it as nice looking that's all.
That is the devil star and I'm Christian so that offends me because I thought it was guna be some normal review but when it reached the design part I couldn't watch it sorry but apart from that it was a good longboard
What has that star to do with THE Devil
actually its quite the opposite , that's an antipossestion pentagram , which keeps evil out , it would only become satanic if it was inverted
You're over-complicating things. I chose that design because it looked nice that's all LMAO
why a satanic symbol though
How much that is bord ? only bord ?
