Loved this video, having problems with my MF65 basic setup same as yours. Have changed starter was good for a short time but now starter turns very slowly not enough to start. Could recommend were I could find a wiring diagram for the MF. Will take the original starter and repeat what you have done, very descriptively thanks Denis

Hi, I am glad you liked it. If the started is cranking over slowly I would suggest you put in another fully charged battery and see if that helps. If it still turns over slowly carefully feel around to see what is getting hot. It could be battery lead connections, earth to body connection or in the starter motor. This will tell you if there are any bad connections that need to be cleaned up. Be careful as it could burn you.
If you can’t find bad connections they look to the starter motor.
I am sorry I don’t know where to get a wiring diagram on line, but if you can get hold of a manual it should be in there.
      Thanks from Geoffrey

Lovely Geoffrey thanks for your quick reply and yes I can see a bit of smoke down at the starter when I try to start, will check all that...all the best Denis

I had this on my 35x and it was just the solenoid contacts. They were so dirty I don't know how they were working at all. However, having cleaned them she cranks over better than she has for ages. The contacts are about half way eroded so may need looking at again in 30 years or so. Lucas stuff - doesn't last 5 minutes ☺️

Well done very informative - will see if it works on my F G Wilson 40kw with Perkins Diesel engine doesn’t start unless I bridge solenoid
Live in tropics so subject to many power spikes and humidity - genset runs very well on a full load when I manually bridge start it..

Such a shame this tractor isn't at Brookdale. It would be a fine addition. Massey 65 are an outstanding tractor.

Hi David, yes these are great little tractors. Maybe one day I will get one. I am also hoping to get a
Grey Fergie as a project. Thanks for watching

@@brookdalefarm7986 I have a grey gold FE 35 here, non runner waiting for its turn.
I will probably sell it when it's done.
It has a DB 1212 in front of it that is half done. And will probably sell the DB. Once the 35 is done then a Diesel Major. Not to mention that the tractors I use always need love as well.
God put us on this earth to achieve a sirtian things. When you look in my shed I will be here for a long time yet

Hi David, I often find that by the time I have done all the work on the tractors I am actually using I have run out of time for the fun projects. Hopefully next year I will have some more time for the projects. It sounds like you have a good collection of fun things to restore. Thanks

Great job! You have a most pleasant demeanor for teaching. Have you had the issue where you push to start many times before it actually engages? My MF 60 backhoe does that and I’m not sure what causes it.

    • @brookdalefarm7986
      @brookdalefarm7986  ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Mike, thanks. I am glad you re enjoying my videos. Dose your starter spin without engaging or just clunk when you push the button? If it spins but doesn’t engage it could be that the solenoid is not pulling in far enough or damage to either the teeth on the ring gear or the gear on the starter. Some starters also have a clutch in them that can wear out. Thanks from Geoffrey

@@brookdalefarm7986 it doesn’t spin until after a bunch of attempts where it just clunks. Then suddenly it will crank. Thank you for replying!

@@mikeboccasini4166 Hi Mike, try turning the key and at the same time shorting across the 2 large bolts on the back of the solenoid. If this makes it work then you need to clean the contacts in the solenoid like in this video. I hope this helps. Thansk

Hi Reginald, it is getting very hard to find people who will fix anything like this. I worked it out recently when my Massy Ferguson 178 had the same problem. Thanks
