    This is so weird... My guitar teacher showed me the trick to playing a major pentatonic scale two days ago, and since then I've seen half-a-dozen videos about the major pentatonic scales. I swear the devices are listening to us. 😂

      @mrelmoresmusiclab  16 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      They are always listening. ha. Yeah, my teacher was great but neglected to show me a lot. I had to figure it out as I went along. ha

    Thank you for the great tutorial. Someone showed me the House of Blues, the A minor pentatonic. The 9th fret G string, the 10th fret B and e string and the 8th fret B and e. It makes a house shape. All 5 notes are in the house. The root on the 10th B string “A” for minor and and the 8th e string for the root of the “C” major.
    Just find the root note on the B string and make a house. It’s easy to show but confusing to text. Love the shirt also!

    I have short fingers. I just can't seem to reach those triads like you can. Or I will constantly pluck the wrong string. Uggggh!

    • @mrelmoresmusiclab
      @mrelmoresmusiclab  16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It's okay, just see if you can get part of it and that can work too. The good part is these triads are all over the neck in different positions.

    I love the idea of using your phone as a Looper cuz all I got to do is open the Samsung voice recorder and I can record a little riff any place back to my Bluetooth speaker that's sweet I don't have to buy a Looper that uses a battery or a power supply when I'm out there with my portable app I can just use my phone.... brilliant! So I hit subscribe man thanks

    Love your videos and have been practicing the pentatonic scales, as well as the major and minor triads. It's been extremely helpful, but the one gap I seem to have is with the major scales. Are there specific shapes we should be focusing on and if so, could you do a lesson with diagrams?
    I understand the major and minor pentatonic shapes, but when it come to the full major scale I'm wondering if there are just pieces of those I should focus on (or should I learn the full 5 shapes)?
    Cheers!

      Hi Paul! C major and A minor scales have exactly same notes, but they serve different functions in each scale. For example in Am scale the A note is a root note that feels like home while in C major scale the A note works as a major 3rd being an emotion note with more tension.

    So the tonal center and the relative minor are the same thing?

    • @mrelmoresmusiclab
      @mrelmoresmusiclab  16 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      It really depends on your chord voicings and what you are trying to emphasize. If you are playing CFG...then a C would be more of the tonal center and I would try and weave around that note. If you are playing Am F G..then I would weave around the A note. Just think of the tonal center as your target notes.
      In the end...it's really up to you what sounds good. Hope that helps and keep soaking it in. :)

    I just happened to be passing by and saw this video. Well, how come you didn’t notice that yourself? In my day (here we go 😎) I had never heard of pentatonic scales. I was just 13 and had a shitty acoustic guitar and my old man had a record player/radio. So you hear a song with a cool guitar part or solo and you figured it out. The kinda tough
    sounding bits I thought of as “sour” but then on other songs there might be some “sweeter” sounds. So…. sweet and sour. Pretty deep stuff eh. Then I noticed one day that if I played the tough sounding stuff say in A around the 5th fret starting with the 1st finger, that my pinky finger would be the starting note for the pretty (sweet) sound and eureka 💡 thus I had a way that got me to playing with great bands on big stages.
    So, don’t sell yourself short and wait for someone, or a book or video to explain stuff to you…. just keep your ears and eyes open. 👀
