I own a PRE DGT, Silver Sky (both SEs) and had and sold a Custom 24. They have all been fantastic guitars and I have been thinking about the 594. What has stopped me is I already own a Gibson Les Paul.
So nice. I’m really curious about the silver sky SE. I heard that guitar is pretty amazing. I will say I love my McCarty 594. The neck on that thing is just glorious. And it’s funny, I just bought a new Les Paul studio and I still love the 594. They’re both very different guitars. 😊
Ha!brilliant 😂
😀
Nicely explained made a lot of sense 🇬🇧🙌❤️ like life you only get out what you put in 🤣
You got it.
You mean instead of the fretboard being numerical to learn where the sounds are by learning the actual fretboard so that it's second nature and your not having to look where your hand is constantly
Perfectly said. When you have both you are truly rocking though.
I watched on another video where a chap did the above but then put polish on the neck, would the polish make it sticky again, or is that just for sealing the guitar? I am still trying to decide if I am going to do this to my Gretsch Jet (part of me is screaming "are you nuts!").
That is a great question. I think it’s all a matter of personal preference. I personally couldn’t stand the glossy feel on the neck. I sanded it down and it feels amazing now. I can honestly see why you might be hesitant to do it on your Gretsch. Perhaps, you could send it and then turn into some kind of satin finish?
@@mrelmoresmusiclab So far I have just been keeping a small jar of baby powder near my amp and I stick my thumb in it after I wipe the neck down, the baby powder works but can be a bit messy. But man, the thumb sticks like glue to both my Gretsch's, they are beautiful looking, but....

Good stuff! By the way how are your band practices going? I enjoyed the behind the band vids you were posting.
Hey my man. Yes, we need to practice more. haha. I will get more of those vids up soon. We are definitely committed to making it all work. Just trying to get our schedules ironed out. ha. Keep crushing that bass. :)
I go 1,3 slide ,down a string 1,3, down string start again 1,3 slide 1,3 slide also I noticed you landing on the B not C chord this time 😁
Yes, G to Am and then Bm. So that is a 1,2,3 chord progression. Keep going. :)
yes brosky. got the same prs se dgt

Thanks so much. I'm trying to figure it all out too. Keep going and connecting those dots.

No worries and thanks for sharing. Keep going. :)
You have a very good way at explaining and motivating people to expand their skills without over explaining or over complicating everything. Thank you.
Why thank you. I'm finally starting to figure out this YT thing. Keep connecting those dots.
Love your channel, content and community here dawg!! Big love you’re empowering lots of ppl and with a super encouraging vibe it’s super important work. Also I love the rhythmic beat boxing that you do, it’s iconic. 🪼🎸
Thanks my friend. Yeah, just trying to have a lot of fun with other guitar players around here. haha. Lots of great people around here and it's going to be fun to see how far we can take it. I played and toured in bands for years, so the beatboxing is kind of built in. haha. Appreiciate the kind words. Keep going and lots more to come. :)
The first shape you play. I call it the "stair step" shape. With the root note on D string, it is a major triad. Shift the entire shape closer to the floor by one string. Root note on the G string and it is a minor shape. A simple shape but you can play six of the seven chords from the major scale with that one shape. DOTS! Are being connected....
That's exactly right. That is a great connection of dots. Keep going one day at a time. It will be cool once I build out all of the triad playlists for both major and minor. :)
I know all the modes, and I can play them on the piano. I just don't know the fretboard well enough to be able to play the different modes like you just did here. I really need to learn the fretboard a heck of a lot better before I can do half the stuff you do here. It's just so damn difficult because none of it is obvious. Edit: Oh, I forgot to drop where I'm from. I live in a little town in the north Georgia mountains. Middle of nowhere. 🙂
You will get it. I made this video on a whim. I will do a proper breakdown with lots of charts. We will try to tackle on mode at a time and just see what we can create from that. It's a long journey and the modes are not obvious at all. Most don't ever make it past minor pentatonic scales. haha. Keep going one day at a time.
I started by learning the natural notes on the low E and A strings. Then learning the C major scale(everywhere). If you know the scale on the piano I bet it will come quickly for you on guitar.
Modes on the fretboard are not easy but can be mastered through slow, methodical practice (or so I am hoping 😊). Do you live in the Georgia next to Alabama or the Georgia next to Armenia?
@@alanfaber1261 The one next to Alabama. 🙂

You should rename this channel "The Triad Channel." 🙂 I've learned more about triads in the few weeks I've been watching your channel than I have in the previous year.
You are so right. I kind of went triad crazy. haha. They are so important and I'm going to keep dishing them out. Stoked to hear you are learning so much. Keep going! :)
THANK YOU!!!!
No worries. Keep learning these and you're playing will start to improve super fast. :)

Team Jellyfish. Good video!
Thank you. 🙏
Here's something cool. [...which everyone but me probably knows]. You can slide your ring finger on the D-string thru each triad.
That is a great tip and you are exactly correct. I’d say the 351 triad is tricky. But if you really look at it, it’s lying inside of a minor seven barcode and you are correct so many dots to connect forever. Ha.
Good stuff as usual. As mentioned in the video, triads were in key of C. Weren't they all specifically triads/inversions of the C chord? 1=C, 3=E, 5=G. I'm not sure who this comment is directed toward... maybe to me. So many dots to connect!!!
Yes, I just remember someone mentioning the key. Obviously we have to be in a key and in this case everything is gonna stay in the key C major. But the point of these videos are for everyone to learn where the root notes are in each try then you can move it to any key you wish. And yep, you nailed the C major triad formula.😀
Is it reasonable, rational, to think of "keys" as groupings of notes (or chords) that generally sound good together when played in some sequence, while staying in the "key" of the root note?
Yep, and wait until we get into parallel minors, chords, and borrowed chords. haha. It just never ends. :)
Would love for you to check out our newsletter. Thank you. harrys-newsletter-2b7134.beehiiv.com/
I had heard of it, and even read some about the Circle of 5ths, but I didn't understand what the Circle of 5ths really is until I watched this video. Maybe I slow to learn, but this really made it clear. Thanks!
Perfect! you are good, most don't have any idea, but I sure hope to connect some dots for you. I think this is going to be such a fun series to build out with everyone. When you start connecting this stuff, you are going to become such a powerful guitar player. Watch a bunch of the other videos I drop too because they will help you connect all of this. Keep going one day at a time. :)
Very helpful series. I've just started learning this with my in person teacher and this is a great supplement for me.
