  • crosstraininge... The wheelie is a basic trials technique needed in Clubman level of trials competition and higher grades in order to clear obstacles. In other types of riding, it's common to rely on acceleration to wheelie a motorbike. In trials, the emphasis is more on using the legs and suspension for how to do wheelies on a trials bike because you usually don't want to pick up extra speed, and you want to stay in complete control of your trials bike. Drop your knees to compress the suspension, then push against the bars to move your body weight to the rear. When timed properly, you will barely need any throttle to lift the front wheel. Thanks to the Western Districts Trials Club for their riders and expertise in putting together this video on how to wheelie and other observed trials training vids. Don't forget to check out our cross training website and TH-cam channel which applies trials techniques to dirt riding. It's a good idea to learn covering the rear brake at the same time for trials bike wheelies. When you are confident enough to go past the balance point, you can apply the rear brake to lower the front again. You should practice this until it becomes second nature for wheelies, as the normal instinct is to jump off the bike when it goes past the balance point. Covering the rear brake is a critical skill for many of the advanced techniques in higher grades. As you become comfortable with how to do wheelies on a trials bike, try doing a small turn at the same time. This will come in handy when you start to learn floater turns and other advanced techniques. Are you a beginner moto trials rider? Interested in hard enduro riding, endurocross training or wheelies? Or just how to ride moto trials? Watch top former moto trials riders like Graham Jarvis, Chris Birch or Tim Coleman. It's like poetry in motion - from a standing start they can flip their bikes in mid air through 180 degrees, or climb a six foot vertical wall... no fails for these guys so get into our moto trials training videos. A key is the use of body positioning and 'weighting' - choose when to exert pressure on the pegs and when to 'de-weight' or lift the trials bike up. While not used in competition, longer wheelies are fun, help to develop your sense of balance, and develop your ability to cover the rear brake effectively. Covering the rear brake will also be needed in some of the more difficult techniques as you progress with how to do wheelies on a trials bike. This introduction to trials techniques explains why trials riders are so glad they are in on the secret - we reckon you should be too! Great video!!! Another thing I like, is you have a rider who is, let's say, not tiny, nor shredded like a body builder. A normal person. This is awesome! Your videos also show some not perfect stuff. I>E> real riding. Keep up the great work.

    Main thing is just make sure you pin the throttle wide open once the wheel is off the ground and lean back as much as possible until you get used to wheelies.

  • @ripmax333
    @ripmax333 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    what i cant understand is , when you actually push up with you legs so the bike come's up and so your arms are a bit stretched up, not like in a seated position. isn't there any danger that you just twist the throttle up when the bike rises up?

    do you slip the clutch to help lift the front wheel without picking up speed ?

    • @crosstrainingtrials
      @crosstrainingtrials  8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      +cell14 * in some cases, definitely. but these bikes are so light you can lift the front wheel using the suspension with minimal engine power.

      It all depends riding stand ups on a r6 I didn't have to hang off the bike mostly because I did staggered stand ups and didn't have to hang off the back of the bike with my arms supporting my weight instead I used my legs to balance and haf free motion of my arms front to back without arm fatigue

    • @crosstrainingtrials
      @crosstrainingtrials  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Chriss Mitr that depends... if you live in uzbekistan, antarctica or somalia then i'd say it will be tricky buying a trials bike. whichever country you are in should have a national trials site and a list of dealers, or alternatively a local club to contact. the trials communities are all interlinked so a lot of bikes get sold intraclub and never get advertised.www.wdtc.org.au/sub-pages/buying-a-trials-bike.htm

    • @maxjones1414
      @maxjones1414 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most trials are in 1st because of the high torque and the fact that the high revving engines can get pretty good speed even in first. Id practice in first and second if you are on concrete but try to go on dirt as much as you can in case you fall. Don't want to damage you or your bike on concrete crap.

    • @datahop
      @datahop 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +NEXTGENOFCRAP I guess my answer will be useless, being 1 year after. But you you "run out of gear" because you are below the balance point. Once you are at balance point you keep your revs, Even if you go pass you balance point you can lower the revs. Hope it helps (sorry about my english)
