Haruka plays a high-end Yamaha Pacifica, pretty exclusively. Miyu plays 4, 5, and 7 string ESP basses. This particular 7 string bass was made exclusively for him- you can’t get it anywhere!😄💪🏻🤘🏻
Edit- Haruka was 16 at this performance. She got her first guitar at 10.
Miyu was 17, and his brother Mio on drums was 19.
Hal-Ca simply the best female guitarist from Japan, no... World !!, never in 40 years of my life seen female guitarist plays as aggressive as she does, watching her playing is very satisfying.
After listening to Hal-Ca, you have joined one of the most beautiful manifestations in the world of guitar music. For Hal-Ca is the new incarnation of the Guitar God on Earth) In the video, she is 16 years old.
Thanks for doing Asterism. This is first generation Hal-Ca (Haruka Noma). This is in their first album (ignition) phase. More traditional hard rock/metal sound. Suggest Blaze (live) from this same performance. Haruka has monster stage presence to go with her talent. Second generation Asterism is more progressive jazz metal. Suggest Church or Gunfire (live in studio) off their second album, Guernica+a. Third generation Asterism is more what I will call anime rock and their third album, Animetic, is anime theme song covers. Suggest Unravel, Kaikai Kitan or Kyouran Hey Kids. And yes Haruka has gotten even better. She still shreds but she also can play just about any style and technique.

Buckethead contributed to 'Ignition', their first full length release, along with bassist Bootsy Collins, who produced and engineered the album.
That album is full of relatively traditional heavy metal like this song.
The next two releases, 'GUERNICA' (2020) and 'GUERNICA + a' (2021) were more progressive.
The follow up was a Japanese anime x metal cover album titled "Animetic", released on September 9th, 2022.
They each chose favorite anime themes to "Asterism-ize".
'unravel', their version of the Tokyo Ghoul theme song is my favorite from the new album.

I dare to say Hal-Ca is able to play circles around every other guitarists you know. She was just 16 (!) when this was recorded, bassist Miyu 17 and his brother Mio on drums 19.
God and everyone else knows I´m an absolute Lovebites fan myself, but Hal-Ca is simply the GOAT. She´ll turn 20 at the end of November.

she is among the elite that I consider elite, with Miyako holding the crown, then Midori, after that is Haruka aka Hal-Ca, now stepping away from the Japanese scene and entering into the master of Indonesia Ayu Gusfanz also an elite guitarist that is just as good as the first three I just mentioned. I seriously classify Hal-Ca and Midori as full-blown shredders and Miyako and Ayu are more into the soulful melodic style of solos and riffs. I don't want to argue because it's pointless, but Miyako is a level far below Hal-Ca. Until three years ago, Haruka was light years ahead in both technique and expression. And now even more so.

Asterism is great. I second the person who recommended "Church." It's beautiful. Also, they recently streamed a four song set from their online, no crowd show at Zepp Yokohama. It's worth a watch if it's still up on their channel.
