MINOR CORRECTIONS: I'm not sure how it's possible, but I've forgotten that Uncle Matt was at the end of Muppets Take Manhattan. So that's technically another example of this happening, but that predated Family Christmas and was really more of a quick cameo. Also I think all three properties did come together for a big celebratory performance some years back but I don't believe it was officially recorded or broadcast.

I'm pretty sure it was, as there was a special on ABC called the Muppets 30th Anniversary and that had everything muppet related up to that time on display. There was also a christmas special where many muppet characters from different shows all showed up at Fozzie's mom's house on christmas.
There was also Jim Henson’s Musical World at Carnegie Hall, which included the 3 properties (plus emmet otter!) but it was never officially recorded :( though i do remember there is a muppet blog out there with an audio recording of it
Yeah, kinda surprised it took me almost 3 years of watching a puppeteer to finally hear them talk about the Muppets. It never came to my mind, but it seemed so obvious when I think about it for 2 seconds.
To note - Fraggle Rock is currently licensed by Apple TV, Sesame Street is currently licensed by HBO Max (WB), and The Muppets are currently owned by Disney. A lot of handshakes had to happen before this little skit. :)

Given how a planned Elmo cameo in the 2011 Muppet movie was scrapped because Sesame Workshop and The Walt Disney Company couldn't agree on the terms, this is a victory.

The moment Arlo started going into the lore of Oscar's trash can I couldn't stop myself bursting out in joyful laughter. I need this kind of energy more in my life 😄
My favorite thing is just a few months prior to the release of Fraggle Rock Reboot season 2, John stated if they ever did a Fraggle Rock and Sesame Street crossover, the Fraggles would use Oscar's trash can to travel to Sesame Street. So Gobo coming out of the trash can was TOTALLY John's idea.
Muppet Family Christmas... it was amazing and honestly every single thing I could've ever wanted as a kid. I'm 39, so I remember when Jim died and my entire world was shattered, well as shattered as a 5 year old's world could be. The thing I remember most though, is how The Muppets handled his passing, educating children and adults about Jim and helping children learn how to process death. He was and will continue to be one of my biggest creative inspirations.
As fun as it is when he gets on camera, I'm glad Arlo can talk about stuff like the muppets here and not have to worry about the potential low views bringing the channel down
he can't because his main channel is strictly nintendo/gaming content that's higher effort. he made this channel so he can talk about whatever he wants in the moment without any quality demands.

As a kid who was born in the early 2000s (2002), I beileve I always knew that Sesame Street and the Muppets were connected, but I never saw them as being owned by the same company. I had been a big muppets fan for years, watching Sesame Street on PBS Kids and Noggin and the films that feature the Muppet Show cast back in elementary school. I still watch skits of Sesame Street on TH-cam for years now. So they definitely have a special place to me.

There's a TH-camr named Matt Baume, whose content is mostly about queer milestones in pop culture history, and he has an excellent episode on Richard Hunt, one of the most important behind-the-scenes Muppet performers. The episode not only talks about Richard's contribution, but also gives a decent summary of the history of the major Henson productions. It also has a piece on a very touching and sad Fraggle Rock episode that was a reflection on loss, largely inspired by the escalating AIDS crisis.
This skit is my first time hearing these new voices. While they aren't the ones I'm used to, they did a very good performance. Happy to see these characters still living on!

That elicited some next-level excitement from us both. We've been having fun rediscovering the franchise since 2018 or so, and loving the reboot as well. This little special made me SOB. The Muppets have been my primary lifelong special interest and my heart was so full with this little thing. I've been known in multiple friends groups as the Muppet nerd who can connect just about any social justice issue to Fraggle Rock and the fact that we have new Fraggle Rock and this was even possible made me feel so good. Jim died 7 years before I was born, but his influence on my soul has been immeasurable.

Dark Crystal is one my favorite puppet movies. I was so happy his son and the Jim Henson company made the Dar Crystal series for Netflix. Muppets will always be my childhood comfort. And sesame street was every morning at 6am.
This gave me warm fuzzies, and a flashback to the Sesame Street 50th Anniversary special from 2019, which was going along as a pretty wonderful retrospective on the show, a celebration of all that made it special throughout the decades… And then Kermit showed up, made casual pleasantries with various characters as if he never left, before singing Bein’ Green with Elvis Costello and it was just the most wonderful things.

Fraggle Rock is forever my crew. It was my childhood in the 80's and I took all of my life lessons from the fraggles. It really hit me recently how much I actually support the fraggle "ethos" as stated in the third to last episode of the series, "We don't have any leaders. We lead ourselves and we all lead each other." The ideas in this show were, in most respects, way ahead of their time.
As someone who never really watched Muppets, or Draggle Rock or Sesame Street very much in my life, I still have a HUGE appreciation for Jim Henson and I love seeing Arlo just go off excitedly about his work. I would so be down to hear you stream and just ramble about Jim's work and characters and worlds. There is definitely an audience for that content even among people who were never overly involved with the Muppets.
The Muppet Family Christmas is a VERY classic kind of Christmas Special, it is like the old ones that Bing Crosby and the like would hold on their TV... They'd get a house/cabin, and it would be just their friends popping over to say hi, exchange gifts, have a little Christmas cheer, and maybe sing a song or two. It was nostalgic for the adults who watched it with their kids, remembering the specials of when they were kids.
Muppet Family Christmas was always my favorite Christmas movie as a kid having grown up on The Muppet Show and Sesame Street. Seeing these icons interact together all with the backdrop of a kind Christmas tale was so wholesome and warmed my heart.
There is nothing more lovely than finding another adult man who loves the Muppets as much as i do. In fact, way more than i do... You've got a grip on the lore that i couldn't even begin to understand.

Jim Henson and Jack Kirby I still believe were the two most creative people to ever live. The characters they created are still important to us today.

Fraggle Rock is forever my crew. It was my childhood in the 80's and I took all of my life lessons from the fraggles. It really hit me recently how much I actually support the fraggle "ethos" as stated in the third to last episode of the series, "We don't have any leaders. We lead ourselves and we all lead each other." The ideas in this show were, in most respects, way ahead of their time.
As someone who never really watched Muppets, or Draggle Rock or Sesame Street very much in my life, I still have a HUGE appreciation for Jim Henson and I love seeing Arlo just go off excitedly about his work. I would so be down to hear you stream and just ramble about Jim's work and characters and worlds. There is definitely an audience for that content even among people who were never overly involved with the Muppets.

The Muppet Family Christmas is a VERY classic kind of Christmas Special, it is like the old ones that Bing Crosby and the like would hold on their TV... They'd get a house/cabin, and it would be just their friends popping over to say hi, exchange gifts, have a little Christmas cheer, and maybe sing a song or two.
It was nostalgic for the adults who watched it with their kids, remembering the specials of when they were kids.
Muppet Family Christmas was always my favorite Christmas movie as a kid having grown up on The Muppet Show and Sesame Street. Seeing these icons interact together all with the backdrop of a kind Christmas tale was so wholesome and warmed my heart.

I will watch as much muppet content as Arlo will put out, no questions asked. I don't even remember watching Sesame Street because I was so young, but I'm in.

In 1986, there was a 30th anniversary special with Muppets, Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock, Little Muppet Monsters, and Sam and Friends, but it wasn’t as good as Muppet Family Christmas 😂
