So it appears that I made a mistake and didn't check the settings for the Mini 3 Pro. I typically use +1 sharpness with it, but somehow, my camera settings got reset. Possibly, when I applied a recent update, maybe. The Mini 3 Pro footage is set to 0 sharpness while the Mini 4 Pro is set to +1 sharpness.
Either way, the color representation of the normal profile for both isn't affected, so you'll still be able to see the improvements you get with the mini 4 pro camera.
mini3pro looks much more natural without oversharpening. more natural shadows and better colors. totally sold for me. Mini4pro looks too digital to me personally.
The M4 video shows more in-camera sharpening - hence the sharper pictures and greater contrast over the M3. It's easy to add some sharpening in post and I find I'm doing that often anyway, as well as adding saturation - especially if I'm not flying on a sunny day.
I'm more concerned about the flare - although I've seen that to be an issue with some Mini 3s but not all of them.
For the casual user, the M4 is better since you can get better looking video straight out of the drone without having to do much post processing especially if you're just going to use the photos/video on social media.
mini4 seems much better to me, sharper, more dynamic range, better colors... I did not exptect so much difference.
This was the same reaction I had.
I own a Mini 3 pro and often when flying I don't really know what I'm seeing on screen so I zoom in on the computer to identify wildlife etc. I have no doubt the Mini 4 is superior looking at these vids. Thanks for posting this

Not much of a comparison when its done on different days. But if it was done at the same time on the same day it would be a truer camparison
And why would you assume that these were done on different days?
@@WIHRC did you ever play those games where it ask you to pick out the differences ...
And what differences are you referencing? You have not given any concrete evidence as to why you stated something you can't prove is true and is something that you can only assume based on your limited knowledge of how the footage in this video was captured.
You can tell directly from the first clip that these were filmed on the exact same day because of the motion in both pieces of footage during the time lapse.
If you are referencing the fact that the colors are different, then that is in regards to the version of the sensor the Mini 3 Pro uses versus the newer version of that same sensor in the Mini 4 Pro. Which by the way is the same sensor the Air 3 also uses.
This comparison was intended to show the color differences and how both sensors process the image that comes out of them.
With all this being said, I ask again. What it is that makes YOU THINK that the footage in this video was taken on two different days?
@@WIHRC No need to show your horns. I'm talking about the positioning of objects some are there some are missing or some are misplaced. Some pics are easier to tell than others and some may have been filmed that day or at different times. This is what it looks like to my observation. I didn't say I knew for sure, you assumed that. I wasn't referring to the color, brightness or over/under exposures either. It was the objects mainly.
@unite4freedom185 the initial question I asked you was out of curiosity in order to clear up anything that might not have been conveyed in the video.
Your response to that came off dismissive, so I responded with the same energy.
Now that you've explained what it is you mean, I will state that the reason that some objects are in frame and out of frame is because aside from the first clip where I got help with setting it up, I had to capture the footage first with the Mini 4 Pro then the Mini 3 Pro after
Given that the areas I was in were pretty busy with foot traffic, I tried to do my best to follow a path relatively close to what I did with the Mini 4 Pro which proved difficult especially given the fact that you can't even utilize waypoints with the Mini 3 Pro while you can with the Mini 4 Pro.
I also found in 16:9 instead of going vertical, which is another mistake I made during this comparison.
All in all, the footage was taken in the best way possible given the limitations of doing this solo.

Why does every comparison video like this I've seen shows the mini 3 footage all blown out?
Unsure of what you mean by blown out, but both the cameras on both drones were set to automatic and followed very similar paths.
Any exposure or ISO changes in general were done by the embeeded software.
The only manual setting applied is to the Mini 4 Pro footage, which has added sharpness due to a mistake.

I would say that mini 3 pro is actually exposed very well.. and Mini 4 pro is UNDERexposed. Shadows are crushed like hell. mate.@@capturedbyquinn

In all honesty I understood exactly what they meant by blown out but was being a bit sarcastic since the mini three Pro footage was done on auto. This is exactly why they would see it in the same exact way in every comparison they watched unless someone was actually color grading their footage.
All I can see is that the m4p has predominant brownish/orangish color profile vs the more natural one from the m3p. It´s alsso tends to oversaturate and also apply more contrast than the mp3. It looks great on sunrise or sunsets but on green natural parks, beach and ocean footage I think the m3p has a better colour profile than the m4p. I´ve seen green grass and trees turned brown on m4p footage... why??????
Hum...🤔 Mini 4 seems more washed out/flat.
The Mini 4 Pro is supposed to have more dynamic range, sharper lines, etc. One thing that might throw off the footage might also be the kind of screen technology the video is being viewed on. For instance the mini four Pros footage might possibly be more apparent on an OLED display.
I have both of these drones and don't think you are seeing what I see. The 4 even though you'd expect them to be the similar was much better than the mini3pro.

mini 3 pro was weird about that- sometimes even during the day the mini 2 looked better

@@Ad_AltaYou are correct!!! Thank you...I guess I was so perplex looking at the scenery that I forgot which side was which. I just saw the labels at the very beginning and the video. Definitely Mini 4 Pro with has better quality video. It is not earth shattering, but definitively noticeable when comparing side by side.
