I am new to Drones and have just got Mini 4Pro. I only have Light Cut at the moment does your Luts work with that or can you recommend a budget editor as I am not a pro just occasional user. Thanks.
Here too, I just got my mini 4 pro. Don't know what to do next lol. I have lightCut also. I'm just an occasional flyer. But i want nice cinematic videos.
The only problem I have with your review is the constant comparisons of the bigger drones, obviously everyone knows those would be better for some things. The people buying the mini series are trying to stay under the weight that would require certifications and trainings, along with the lower costs. If you're going to compare it, at least compare it with others of the same class.
It's the high end of the small class... And has more to compare to the larger class... Many people getting into the mini 4 are also on the brink of letting go of their reservations about registration and training. And many of the flyers with the larger craft still want a mini to be able to do things the larger craft can't do.
I just got the mini 4, it is my first drone so I have no comparison to others, but it performed better in strong wind than I expected. I just flew it in a very windy fjord in Norway, both on the mountain and over the water. The weather was pretty shit, it was wet, cold and windy and even though it definitely took a toll on the battery life I got clear footage and the drone flew well.
Thanks for this comment I live in Orkney (it's very windy here) and I was a bit worried, I'm seriously considering buying a mini 4. I travel a lot so I need a drone under 250g and I feel a bit better now after reading your comment 😊
@@kamrultalukdar9568 I don't believe it is, but while it's flying the propellers suck all the rain towards them and blow it down and away from all the electronic bits. Just don't be standing around with it while the props aren't spinning
This video is the reason I bought the mini 4 pro over the air. For my specific use case, I had to make a decision between quality and portability. I specifically needed a high quality drone that I could carry in my motorcycle saddlebags. I knew that I could carry the Air if I left other recording equipment or motorcycle gear at home but I’d prefer to have all of my action recording and motorcycle equipment with me if possible. Seeing your review of the camera on this drone WHILE ALSO providing a solution made me feel very confident in my purchase. I can’t wait for it to arrive so I can start learning to fly it and then begin working with it! Thank you so much for your honest review, comparisons, and tips! Definitely subbing to you and recommend you to other action videographers in my area!
I'm upgrading from the mini 3 (non-pro). I use it all the time since I travel. Tennessee, Wisconsin, Germany, and more. I go to hundreds of little farming towns and remote areas for work and do a quick 15 minute capture. It's so cool. The 3 has been wonderful. The 4pro should be a nice upgrade.
Does your mini 4 pro get really hot? Mine gets very hot and pretty fast if it’s not flying. And do the blinking green lights on the back arms supposed to turn off at night after you get a certain height? Have lots of questions on this drone.. also found out hard way obstacle avoidance doesn’t work in low light..
@@levihaydel7064I got my mini 4 pro fly moremkit for $1,099 on Amazon with 2 day shipping the other night. Shoild be here this week. I felt it was a really good deal with 3 battery’s and the multi charger. (Upgrading from a version 1 mavic pro
The mini 2 was my first drone, and I agree it's much more solid than its predecessors. I'm glad I started with the mini 2, because I crashed that thing into almost anything I ever flew by. Crazy thing is, it still works like a champ all these years later.
It's coming along well, no fly aways from me. I'm still nervous of doing something wrong. But I live in the Virgin Islands and have gotten beautiful videos at the beach and at events
It's hilarious how he complained about having to bring the tiny screwdriver, to change the blades as needed, when he has all those pockets on his jacket.
I have the mini 3 pro, from the specs the 4 does not seem to be much different, except the sideways-sensors. What I like a lot about it is its size, it's easy to carry. 1) The main-problem with the camera is its small sensor which has not so much of dynamic range even in D-Cine, which makes it hard to edit the footage - lows clipped & highs clipped, especially with sunshine. 2) The other problem is the memory-card which offers only about 80 MBit. D-Cine in 4:2:0 does not help much, when it has to be compressed a lot to get down to 80 MBit. I see this if I compare it with footage from my fullframe-cams. The Sony A1 is doing 280 MBit, for comparison. (Ok, the price-tag is also different 😉) CFexA or B is a must, if the footage is to improve. 3) Yes, I could buy a Mavic. BUT: What I completely dislike is the compatibility with DJI. They shoud develop thei own OS instead of useing Android. I am not willed to invest lots of money every year for new drone + new RC + batteries + new goggles,... especially when the goggles do only support the drone in NTSC (goggles2 with Mini 3 pro). So lets see, what the Mini 5 brings...
Been in the 20% for a while! Excellent, sane review of the Mini 4P! My first drone was an Air2S, then I got the Mini 3P when it came out, and ended up flying it all the time. I upgraded from the A2S to an Mavic 3 Pro for all the photographic features and cameras I never had, and wow, that was a great move. I had some doubts if I should bump up the Mini 3P to a 4, and this video helped me to clarify and prioritize those upgrades. The Mini 3 still fills a need, the battery life is better, and I'll likely now hang for the Mini 5..whenever. 🤜🤜
Having gone from the Mini 3 (nice eBay sale) to the Mini 4 I have zero regrets. The 4 I think feels like the product the 3 should have been, so many tweaks that make it IMO better value: Better Gimbal cover Prop guard Landing light AR features - RTH, drone shadow, home point Front legs that house antennae O4 transmission Better cooling Precision landing Ability to just plug the drone into a computer while powered off - no need for a card reader! ... plus the features mentioned in the video. Also - how many firmware updates have we had? Hardly any. It's just worked right out of the box after the first big update. The 3 by contrast was a mess in the early days, overheating, battery load warnings, poor signal due to incorrect frequency choice, etc.
Thanks for your video. I bought my Mini 3 pro early August because everyone was saying what a great drone it is and I wanted to get back into the hobby. The mini 3 pro is still a great drone. I wont buy a mini4 because the Mini 5 be out Autumn 2024 I am sure. Many years ago I bought a Phantom 2 which cost me over £1200. Just over a year later it started develop fault DJI was not interested and then they stopped updating apps, I changed my phone and the old app did not work on my new phone. I have paid for the Refresh package with my mini3 but there is something that niggles me about Dji, they bringing out new drones and they cast away a one year old drone what we spent good money on. Sorry about my moan it's not aimed at you. You do a great job with your channel.
@DMProductions Great review as always, Darren! Thanks for your content. You bring the full gamut of the Mini 4 Pro, the good and the bad. Still getting one, though. Good to know you're looking at 80% good, 20% bad, or really not so bad 👍🏾
I upgraded from a M2 to M4P I’ve always loved the idea of how small they are to be able to throw them in your bag and you’re away. But I wish I had brought the Air 3 instead. The flight time is terrible on the standard batteries. The standard DJI bag as well seems to be made on a budget where every thread of fabric saved is an issue. Once you get a filter pack in there as well it feels like the bag is going to burst! So you end up taking a bigger bag anyway! Great features but over all feels like a bit of a let down to the hype
Brilliant Darren. Got your Cheat Sheets. It's difficult to find any negatives - the ones you identify are pretty insignificant for me - it's a perfect drone for a newbie. Merry Christmas to you and your family - your advice is superb as always and your videos are really easy too watch, so keep them coming in 2024 please. Keep being picky though as it helps everyone understand the detail.... :)
Great Darren. Only issue I have is identifying what sheets, luts etc for the Mini 4 Proyou have. Do you have everything for the Mini 4 Pro in one bundle and can you clarify the total cost for them please
Good video explaining the good and bad points but glad to hear you still recommend the Mini4 Pro! I have had mine a few weeks but the weather is against me just now so only been out 3 times with it. Roll on spring & summer. You have a lot of good info in your videos.
I've just bought the mini 4 pro today. Started flying drone last year and was given a Mavic mini for free by a work colleague, great fun but the connection to the phone is rubbish. I keep having too many problems with lost connection and a beeping noise every time it lands. I have to switch it off and on again just to make it stop. So I've got the Mini Pro 4 coming with the screen RC and can't wait for it to arrive. Your review was great and very helpful. A lot of the features look exciting. I will use many for work to take great progress photos. Thank you for your awesome review. 👊
I use the extended plus battery in my standard mini 3, this makes the drone a bit better in strong wind as its heavier, and sometimes i have actually got bored because it seems to just keep flying and flying with loads of battery life left! i no longer have flight time anxiety, i haven't tested how long it can fly for but i have flown for over half an hour with still 40% left and got bored lol.
@@WillyD1 I have mini 3 and mini 4 pro, both can fly for basically 30 minutes, which is about the same as any of the other drones. If you live in the US, you should just get the fly more plus combo, to get a total of 3 batteries, 2 with extra capacity.
I also typically have 3 batteries and after flying 1 or 2 of them, I typically have had enough and don't use up the 3rd. After an hour of flying, I typically am just like that's enough for the day.
I appreciate you pointing out the situation with the non-adjustable exposure and need for ND filters, no other review I've watched has mentioned that and it's critical! The propeller attachments and vulnerability to stronger winds are downsides for sure but not dealbreakers, for me at least. And with the battery life, there is one significant workaround there that you missed; they offer significantly larger batteries for it. Disclaimer there is that those larger batteries put it into a different weight class, which can cause restrictions in certain areas or use cases, but it's a good solution for many of us
Hi, Just wanted to say how brilliant your vids are ? As a total numpty, bought a drone many years ago from a shopping channel and the bedroom required re-decorating. 🙁 Deffo interested in the 4 pro ? Going to checkout your LUTS & Cheat sheets. Have to say, your honest explanations are a huge boost in comparison to others who just waffle with not much intent. Really pleased to have had the opportunity of finding you. Thanks again.
I recently upgraded from the Mini 3 Pro and though long and hard choosing between the Air 3 and Mini 4 Pro. Here in Aus / NZ there is not much difference in regulations between flying these 2 drones. I chose the Air 3 and so glad I did. The mini always felt like a bit of a toy. The Air 3 is so stable and I fly with much more confidence now and get a wide variety of shots. The noise level difference is minimal. If you can afford the small increase in cost and not impacted by regulations - it's a no brainer.
What a great job, I agree with you on the positives as well as the negatives. The feeling of being a less consistent drone, I think it is due to having to lighten the quality of the materials so that it does not exceed 250 grams. But even so, I've had a few knocks while testing and the drone has held up like a champ. Greetings from the Canary Islands, mate.
I’ve just purchased a mini 4 pro after starting out my drone experience with a 3 pro after watching your reviews. I was and am still undecided whether I should have gone for the air 3 instead but the convenience of the smaller drone is definitely a plus factor when travelling. Keep the reviews coming, they’re a great help for us newbies 👍
Im glad yo see your detailed opinion, and i agree with you, except i dont need to unscrew the propels everytime I keep the drone, its not necessary at all in my opinion.
Is the tracking on the M4P better than the M3P? How about the Air 3? My M3P is terrible at tracking my car, even in spotlight mode. I’ve seen others mention this problem as well.
Just began my drone photography adventure with a close friend and partner. We both just invested in our first drones and both decided on the Mini 4 pro. So excited to receive mine tomorrow, my business partner received his last week and it's been a joy! Thank you so much for your content and efforts! Loved your review of the RC2 vs the N2! Helped me in my decision making. Please keep up the excellent work my friend!
This is by far one of the best drone reviews I’ve ever seen. Love the cheat sheet idea. You have earned yourself a like, a sub, and all notifs on my man! Simply awesome!
@@DMProductions can you do a video on gyro flow on the avata. I would love to see the difference between using the in house rocksteady vs putting the footage from the avata into gyroflow. Plus don’t think a lot of avata owners out there know how powerful gyroflow is and the difference it can make.
From a functional point of view you cant fault it. For photographers, we work with what we got and find the best places to shoot with it and maximise that. I dont see any issues with the shortcomings you mentioned, just things that will give us a different technique and style to drone photography and videography.
Binge watching your videos on the 4Pro....even subscribed. I really enjoy they way you present the information and your video production quality is great! Thanks a lot!
So what your saying is for what its built for being under 250g and unrestricted this is a fantastic product. Other drones mentioned that are over the 259g in many areas requier rego training licences etc etc....... You cant add the features you would like and keep the weight down without sacrificing others .... in a perfect world weight wouldnt be an issue and that would be fantastic.
I couldn't agree more. It has some disadvandatges in image quality, but the weight and size is such a great advantage. I like to take it with me wherever I go. WIth the bigger drones i struggle quite allot to just put it in a backpack for a random hike...
This is probably the best overview of a new drone that I have ever viewed. I wish I had the Mini 4 Pro, but there is only so much tech I can buy. I have the Mini 2, Mini 3 Pro, and the Air 3 so I have my bases (Yankees) covered, Darren. Regarding size/weight: The minis are great. Last week I was flying at a Disc Golf Park near me. One of the players greeted me as he passed by and said, “That is a really great toy.” Statements like that are just what I like to hear. In my experience, fear of “Karens” is just not an issue. I fly like I belong where I am, say hello to passersby, and they do the same. I enjoy your videos and wish you well and success in the coming year. Cheers from Wisconsin, U.S.A. 👊
Thank you George ! That’s for the support and loyalty 🤜🤜 also you don’t need a mini 4 pro you have a great set up there so stick with them until something else turns up! The mini 4 pro for you is not needed 😊
@@DMProductions Thank you for these affirmative words. I can’t thank you enough for all I have learned from you since entering the exciting world of drones. You are a great reviewer and teacher.
I sold one mini 3 pro, and might sell the other now that i have the mini 4 pro. I just never think "this is a better situation for the mini 3 pro", the mini 4 pro does everything a little better. It's perfect to throw in a bag when traveling, and I can only really fly one drone at a time.
@@georgekelly1948greetings from Green Bay. I’m here looking for a travel drone option for my vacation in a few weeks. My Mavic 3 pro is for my business but I need a fun drone as well that travels light.
You know what I'm curious about? Does the omni collision detection actually work? The small amount of drifting my mini 3 does makes it dangerous to do roof inspections but also, sometimes you might easily miss things
Excellent review!! Well explained. Your videos are so slick ! Drone pilot here on east coast Canada I was at DJI today. Trying to figure out what drone I want to replace my phantom 4 pro. Remember that drone. Most excellent IMO. it’s going to be M3pro for professional work. And MM 4P for getting up quick without worrying about restrictions. I live in class D airspace. I’m licensed to fly but need 24 hrs notice. Keep up the great work in the new year. We will be watching.
Thank you for your honest review!!! I’ve just recently acquired the mini 4 and still trying to find my confidence, I’m having problems trying to transfer my images from the RC with Memory card in it to my MacBook Pro or even my iPhone 15 pro max maybe you can make a video about this, that would be great.
🤜 I have the Air 3 and love it! I haven't seen anything on the Mini 4 that makes me regret my choice. If I traveled more, I might have a different view, but for me the Air 3 checks all the boxes, ESPECIALLY the flight time. I feel like of all the claimed flight times DJI has ever released, the Air 3 is the closest. When doing a 30 second Hyperlapse video, it takes about 22 minutes to complete. If the Mini 4 lasts 18 minutes, it wouldn't even finish the flight.
I tried the Mini 4 Pro before I bought my Air 3. There is nothing I have seen on the Mini 4 Pro or tried on it that would make me want one ahead of my Air 3. After I bought it I sat the A2CofC exam and the only potential downside is that I cannot fly my Air 3 over individual uninvolved people. The thing is though I dont really want to. Flight time, 70mm telephoto lens, being able to fly much further while maintaining VLOS, flight speed, climb speed, descent speed, wind resistance and charging a battery from 2 partially charged ones make the Air 3 an absolute winner at least for me.
I got a mini 4 pro, it looks like a toy drone for dogs to chase around the park. I returned it after one flight to order the Air 3. The mini 4 is so tiny I could barely keep a visual on it. You're already spending a lot to get the mini 4 at $1100, might as well bite the bullet and pay 400 more for the Air 3.
I get regular 25 minutes flight time out of the normal battery on every flight under normal conditions and if I really need more, I simply take a plus Battery. No Problem of taking 30 seconds Hyperlapse video at all.
Hello Bro.. I just bought a mini 4 pro , I really love everything about it but I have a question if you can help, why I record video over 5 mins but when I transfer to my phone if automatic cut to 3 mins... I can not get full video..??? Any setting..??? Please help
I don't actually own one but have a lot of experience with IT. I would check to make sure the video is not automatically compressing and your phone has enough storage. Let me know anything else relevant.
I crashed my DJI 3 (not the pro) and upgraded to the 4 Pro. I have to say that I already loved the Mini 3. But the 4 Pro feels like a great step forward. I don't know how the 3 pro compares tot he 4 pro. But I'm glad I upgraded to the 4 Pro instead of the 3 Pro.
I bought one for my recent trip to Colorado, but am now returning it. The size is definitely nice, but my Air 3 beats it in every other category. If I was a travel vlogger I'd consider keeping it.
@DMProductions Gotta say, been debating on buying one for a while as my first drone and get my FAA drone pilot license to add to my resume as an Engineer. Watched a couple dozen reviews, yours was one of the best reviews and basically made me settle on getting it.
I know technology keeps moving, but really dissapointed in DJI obsoleting the Mini 3 pro in ~1.5 years. Seems like they could make the advances on the 360 degree obsticle avoidence for Mini 4 pro hardware but keep passing along software upgrades to Mini 3 Pro. I'll think long and hard about buying the Mini 4 pro and probably wait a year or two for the Mini 10 Pro.
@@DMProductions Yes but, way-points and action track seem like software features they could make retroactive to Mini 3 Pro software to keep us happy until we are ready to upgrade. PS--Nice videos... you're my goto guy for drones.
Thanks for a very honest review! I am an amateur thinking of upgrading from the DJI Mini 2 to the Mini 4 Pro and your video certainly helps to come to a decision. I did get great value from watching your video and as a sign of appreciation I have subscribed!
Great video! I'm trying to decide between the mini 3 and 4 currently. Do you think the mini 4 holds up against wind better/worse/the same as the mini 3?
Here is one like and a subscribe! The fact that you offer the tip sheets made the difference for me. I’m going to be buying the fly more combo. Do you think you might be able to put a video together about how this drone might be flown in an “FPV” mode? I’m very curious as to whether it would work. I know it isn’t an Avata…but my use case is to stay in the “sub 250 gram” drone world.
we had a mini 2.. and now the mini 4 pro.. night a day difference in camera performance. I have flown in wind and there is a limitation... but I do say any mini drone will have the same issues.
Fantastic review..just bought the mini 4 my first drone..testing it out in the Philippines mid Feb..haven't a clue what I'm doing im just looking into ND filters and seeing what I need..watching as many vids as possible but will basically be winging it
Sold all my other drones.. air2s, mini 3 pro, mini 2se and just kept 2.. mini 4 pro and Mavic 3 Pro, best of both worlds, for travel around the world and for work on the sides.. no more middle tier drone and cluttering my room collecting dust..have the Rc Pro, and the newer RC 2.. the rc is just to slow and lack of range in congested areas..the mini 4 pro does have advantage when fly on the same spot, solid connection👍
@@DMProductions funny thing happened today, was at my local camera gear store to check out some portrait lens when i saw a used great condition mini 3 pro on their used camera gear shelve without battery for $200!😂 now I’m back having a mini 3 pro again🤣
Thanks for mentioning the wind issues. That's my biggest need, a drone that can fight the wind here in the plains of Kansas. I appreciate you mentioning the DJI Air 3. I'm off to that review now!
I am about to buy a Mini 4 Pro... what would you say are the must have accessories to purchase from the beginning? I know I can add as I go but I also know that somethings like certain protectors etc really should be bought from day 1. An accessories video would be awesome.
Hey I appreciate the info here. I'm debating getting this for the small size and the fact I never flew one before - so I think it will cover me pretty well. ND filters are def worth considering and I like the case they come in! Cheers mate!!
For anyone upgrading from the earlier mini drones this is going to be a fantastic upgrade. I can't see how these mini drones can be compared to the bigger mavic drones . Surely if you've got one of the bigger drones you won't be "upgrading" to the mini 4 pro . Good information though
Its funny because you can buy drones for 30 quid that has most of these features like tracking and waypoints etc. DJI main selling points are the cameras and distances. I do agree they are the best drones though, sad they have only just added these basic features.
I usually turn off the sensors (obstacle avoidance) when I’m above 200 feet. The battery life practically doubles. On the Plus batteries, I managed to get around 40 minutes.
Something I may have missed in my TH-cam research, or maybe is just too obvious for most, is that after filming a 4K video with a Mini 4, I discovered that several platforms cannot display 4K, including my wife's Android tablet, my sister-in-law's older Android phone, and my own Windows 10 laptop without first downloading a video app like VLC that has the proper CODECs. Since I can live without the higher resolution, my solution to sharing videos with family and friends will be to reset the Mini 4 to film in 1080. Who knew?!
I use an nd filter on my mini 3 pro - usually 8/pl or 16/pl for sunrises..what nd filter would u recommend for sunsets? Or no filter? Love all your videos learning so much 😀😀 I did try a uv filter which seemed ok..16/pl seems to be an all round filter?
Hi Darren, thank you for your honest comprehensive video. I think your Mini Pro 4 series videos are excellent. Based on your videos, I have decided to buy this drone, but one thing that concerns me is the regulation regarding the hand carrying of the batteries on a flight! I see that you travel abroad frequently. Do you have to declare this fact to the airline before traveling? Have you experienced any issues while passing through airport security? Again, thanks for the great videos
Always best checking the airline policy but all the ones ive been with have been fine, normally it's a limit but none of the DJI batteries go over the limit when onboard. I always take in hand luggage in lipo bags
This was nice to come across as I am considering the Mini 4 Pro in the not too distant future. Great to see it's a great little machine. While I don't think it's entirely fair to compare the Mini to the larger, heavier drones, as others here mention, it's still nice to see the differences. I'm still using my trusty Mavic 2 Pro and it's still a very capable drone with great features, but I'm thinking of downsizing precisely because of the restrictions.
What I would still like to see in the DJI mini 4 Pro is an option for a film clip of 30 sec larger and it is not possible on Google Maps. I've had the 4 for a few months now and had a 2 and that really makes a difference, I can't complain.
I just bought the mini 4k and seeing what this drone offers plus the elimination of the phone, I’m thinking I made the wrong purchase and should’ve put the extra 500 down. And also the follow me features/sensor etc
Amazing dedication you’ve invested to make it easy for the new dronies. Thanks 🙏 DJI has a crazy future. Would love to see remote transfer on the mini/air line. So if im at home, and wifey is at a near by park and we both have a “rc2” remote, I can fly from home to the park and she can take over with her “rc2” for better footage of the kids while I was still at home ! Zam!!!!!!!
Excellent video. I have a Mavic 2 Zoom for sale with lots of accessories, including the smart controller. My other drone is the Mini 3 pro with a RC controller. I heard you say about the controller with the antennas being better? Would the Smart controller with the Mavic 2 zoom work with the Mini 3 pro, thus improving connectivity?
Thanks for the detailed, balanced review! I have been a little unhappy with the quality of the video of the Mini 3, and was looking forward to the 4. But you are saying that there is not a big jump on the video quality, that it is more about the new software features? Perhaps my problem with the 3 is that I am not using the ND Filters? Would the ND Filters make a big difference on the Mini 3?
Do you notice that there’s a creaking sound when the body is squeezed a little? I think you’re right that DJI tried to pack too much into such a small body?
I watch all your videos and they are a great learning tool and entertaining at times. All the reviewers talk about putting the Mini in their pock or whatever but fail to mention that you have to take the controller, batteries and filers etc. You need some kind of bag to carry all the stuff around. Thumbs up to you for mentioning that you have take all the other gear with you as well. Well done.
Great review but a question if I can: I have the original first gen mini, and it complains in the slightest of winds. Is the 4 pro any different, or more capable in wind? Cheers
You mention the fixed aperture which I appreciated. I’m more photographer than drone expert and would like a variable aperture lens for greater sharpness. Are you aware of a mini 4-sized drone with a camera lens that can be stopped down? Thank you.
Just bought DJI Mini 4 Pro use it for the first time today I have never had one before and found it OK to use like up and down right to left to get hang of it I'm learning slowly that is ok for me hope to put some footage of drone on my TH-cam channel latter when I get more practise how to use it and hints video footage on topics which I cover .I found video well worth watching
i just watched the video but still dont understand what a lut is,,also merry xmas,,i just got myself the dji 4 pro ,,my controller took about 6 hrs to charge ,i used cell phone charger and 3 batteries took 7 hrs an that was outta the box on both,,any advise on everything,,,thanks.
Needs at least a 30 watt charger block .. regular usb chargers like you used are prolly way too little wattage for the big controller and drone battery’s
Thanks for the video! I think I will buy the Luts for my Mini 4 pro. One thing I have been very impressed with mine, is the Obstacle avoidance 360. It expertly navigates around objects. Even in a forest of trees! Unfortunately, I don't have the ND filters yet. Any advice on transition from dark forest, to bright beach scenes?
Yes obstacle avoidance is very good ! You can try and set the white balance and exposure manually under pro settings but you’ll need to do a couple of test runs to get the right exposure. Or keep it in auto exposure and white balance as it adjusts pretty well. ND filters really are a great accessory
Great review, I'm having second thoughts about buying one as I have a Air 3 that I have is still an awesome drone. When you add up the cost of all the accessories you need the price is prohibitive especially in Canadian dollars. Thanks for the review.
I love flying with my Mini 3 Pro together with a larger battery that I've bought I can get around 40 minutes flight time. The only thing I don't like is the overall sharpness and dynamic range of the images. But people that take pictures with their phone won't even notice this as it's very similar. I first thought wow 48MP photos, they must be sharp. But printed on 40x60cm you can tell it's not that sharp, which kinda limits the use to small prints and social media. And video ofc. Which is fine for some people though.

The weather was pretty shit, it was wet, cold and windy and even though it definitely took a toll on the battery life I got clear footage and the drone flew well.
Is it water resistant?
Norway. Must be nice!

Mine arrives tomorrow, and my saddle bag is going to be its home for 3 seasons out of the year. Cool to see someone of like mind in the comments.
Me too from mini pro 3
Did you keep the 3? Or sell it on ?
@@johnleech777 I sold it to my brother. He uses it a lot too.
I've had the Mini4 pro since it went on sale and I love it. I started with the original Mini. Mini4 is amazing.
how much was it on sale for?
I think they mean since its been available to buy. Not a price reduction@@levihaydel7064
I literally just got my mini 4 pro combo plus fly more combo and ND filters yesterday! I can't wait to try it out. This is my very 1st drone
Tried it yet? I'm thinking of purchasing it. Did you find any discounts ?
Sounds like it’s still flying . . . Away from you. Have you got a new hobby yet . . . Fishing perhaps?
It's coming along well, no fly aways from me. I'm still nervous of doing something wrong. But I live in the Virgin Islands and have gotten beautiful videos at the beach and at events
@@flodynastyvi : Thanks for responding. Fantastic to hear. Australia here. About to buy the Mini 4 pro.
Fly aways? Is that even a real thing? Lol how does that even happen?
It's hilarious how he complained about having to bring the tiny screwdriver, to change the blades as needed, when he has all those pockets on his jacket.
Hahaha
The 4 I think feels like the product the 3 should have been, so many tweaks that make it IMO better value:
Better Gimbal cover
Prop guard
Landing light
AR features - RTH, drone shadow, home point
Front legs that house antennae
O4 transmission
Better cooling
Precision landing
Ability to just plug the drone into a computer while powered off - no need for a card reader!
... plus the features mentioned in the video.
Mini Series product refresh seems to be 18 months approx, so you'll be waiting until spring 2025 I think.
Thank you mate hope you and family have the best holiday and Christmas! I’m going to take a few weeks off, regroup and back for 2024 🔥
Absolutely buy it! I got a great deal on eBay new for $649. It's a flawless drone, in my opinion.
Thank you ☺️
I've just bought the mini 4 pro today. 👊
HOW did the new drone workout ?
How did it go? :P I bought a mini 4 pro yesterday with the RC2 and I have yet to fly it :P
I use the extended plus battery in my standard mini 3, this makes the drone a bit better in strong wind as its heavier, and sometimes i have actually got bored because it seems to just keep flying and flying with loads of battery life left! i no longer have flight time anxiety, i haven't tested how long it can fly for but i have flown for over half an hour with still 40% left and got bored lol.
yes the battery plus is worth it if you can get one, in the UK and EU the battery plus is not permitted
yep, if you have the plus, i usually land with extra battery.
Them batteries suck too they all die way to fast wish I saved my money
Disclaimer there is that those larger batteries put it into a different weight class, which can cause restrictions in certain areas or use cases, but it's a good solution for many of us
Hi,
Just wanted to say how brilliant your vids are ? As a total numpty, bought a drone many years ago from a shopping channel and the bedroom required re-decorating. 🙁
Deffo interested in the 4 pro ?
Greetings from the Canary Islands, mate.
love the canaries !
Okay here you go 🤜 And you really helped with the ND filter info That was KEY 👏👏
Please keep up the excellent work my friend!

thank you appreciate that really glad you liked the video
@@DMProductions can you do a video on gyro flow on the avata. I would love to see the difference between using the in house rocksteady vs putting the footage from the avata into gyroflow. Plus don’t think a lot of avata owners out there know how powerful gyroflow is and the difference it can make.
ill stick with my rc pro and mini 3 pro...brighter screen, can output to hdmi, get loads of flight time and never use obstacle avoidance
Yep mini 3 pro is still very good!
I have had mine for 2 months and its awesome

I flew my Mini 2 into a Lake. It was underwater for 30 minutes, pulled it out dried and it works great to this day.

Thank you this means a lot 🤜🤜
My Mini 3 Pro may have worried a couple people yesterday...

Ah that’s awesome thank you
You know what I'm curious about?
That’s really interesting and I sure remember the phantom what a drone that was! Although not portable 😂 thanks for watching
Your videos are always super helpful and just really nicely made! Just upgraded from Mini 3 Pro to the Mini 4 Pro.
thank you appreciate that
🤜 I have the Air 3 and love it! If the Mini 4 lasts 18 minutes, it wouldn't even finish the flight.
the air 3 is so good I love it
I tried the Mini 4 Pro before I bought my Air 3.
I did the exact same choice and I don’t regret it at all 😉
I got a mini 4 pro, it looks like a toy drone for dogs to chase around the park.
Yes the air 3 is so good! It’s what I said
About going from a dual or triple lens, going back to 1 is very hard
@DMProductions Gotta say, been debating on buying one for a while as my first drone and get my FAA drone pilot license to add to my resume as an Engineer. Watched a couple dozen reviews, yours was one of the best reviews and basically made me settle on getting it.
Thanks I appreciate that enjoy the new drone got loads of videos on it
I know technology keeps moving, but really dissapointed in DJI obsoleting the Mini 3 pro in ~1.5 years.
Haha the 3 mini pro is still awesome and only slight improvements on the mini 4 pro
@@DMProductions Yes but, way-points and action track seem like software features they could make retroactive to Mini 3 Pro software to keep us happy until we are ready to upgrade. PS--Nice videos... you're my goto guy for drones.
Great video. Really enjoyed listening. Balanced, intelligent. Nice shots of Tenerife (I think?)!
Thanks for a very honest review! I am an amateur thinking of upgrading from the DJI Mini 2 to the Mini 4 Pro and your video certainly helps to come to a decision. I did get great value from watching your video and as a sign of appreciation I have subscribed!
Awesome thank you !
Great video! I'm trying to decide between the mini 3 and 4 currently. Do you think the mini 4 holds up against wind better/worse/the same as the mini 3?
Go for the 4. I got it and the omnidirectional sensor is so nice
What on earth are they going to do for the mini 5?... love for the next mini's camera to have a variable aperture or electronic ND
I upgraded from a mini 2, so it was like all my christmas's came at once! Huge upgrade
Absolutely
Excellent points and set up you have 👌

Hey I appreciate the info here. I'm debating getting this for the small size and the fact I never flew one before - so I think it will cover me pretty well. ND filters are def worth considering and I like the case they come in!
Cheers mate!!
@9:45 - I would suggest you purchase a pair of polarising sunglasses. Make viewing so much better.
For anyone upgrading from the earlier mini drones this is going to be a fantastic upgrade. I can't see how these mini drones can be compared to the bigger mavic drones . Surely if you've got one of the bigger drones you won't be "upgrading" to the mini 4 pro . Good information though
Awesome video!!! Lots of useful information. Love the idea of the cheat sheets!!! 👊
Thank you glad you liked it ☺️
Its funny because you can buy drones for 30 quid that has most of these features like tracking and waypoints etc. DJI main selling points are the cameras and distances. I do agree they are the best drones though, sad they have only just added these basic features.
I'm still using the mini 2 & love that drone! I just wanted the occusync for better range. & $600 was expensive then now they want OVER $1K
Love all your videos learning so much 😀😀
I did try a uv filter which seemed ok..16/pl seems to be an all round filter?
Is it worth upgrading to the 4 pro if you already have a 3 pro based on all the advantages you noted?
I’m torn Should I get air 3 or classic? Mostly ocean/beach shots
Great update and review. You mentioned actual battery life of 18-20min. What about the battery plus... 26-28min?
Battery plus is good around 30/33 mins real life with that or 35+ just normal photos and videos
You have basically sold me on the Air 3 BUT when travelling internationally where that 250g weight limit is crucial the Mini 4 does look awesome
Would the ND Filters make a big difference on the Mini 3?
massive difference
Thanks for the review but I must admit, I've never had to change the prop's on my Mini 2 ... and I've crashed it a few times!
Do you notice that there’s a creaking sound when the body is squeezed a little? I think you’re right that DJI tried to pack too much into such a small body?
I loveeeee my mini 4 pro just need your cheat sheets because I ended up buying the ND filters but have no idea what I’m meant to be doing with them 😅😂
Haha I have done a few videos on nd filters too that should help you out
Brilliant review on the mini 4 pro. I wish they'd provided variable aperture on the mini series
Well done.
Thank you ☺️
Great review but a question if I can: I have the original first gen mini, and it complains in the slightest of winds. Is the 4 pro any different, or more capable in wind?
Cheers
This was great and after looking at this video, we decided to purchase the DJI Mini 4 Pro. Thank-you!
Just upgraded from the mini 2 absolutely love it
i just watched the video but still dont understand what a lut is,,also merry xmas,,i just got myself the dji 4 pro ,,my controller took about 6 hrs to charge ,i used cell phone charger and 3 batteries took 7 hrs an that was outta the box on both,,any advise on everything,,,thanks.
Needs at least a 30 watt charger block .. regular usb chargers like you used are prolly way too little wattage for the big controller and drone battery’s
I’ve been waiting a year to pull the trigger on this drone. I almost have all the money to buy the fly more combo pack. Thanks for the info.
👊🏼 really informative thanks. Think I’ll wait for the 5 pro as have the 3. Really would love optical zoom on these.
For someone who is still on a Mini 2SE, but looking to upgrade this is very useful stuff. Thanks.
nice one that would be a cool upgrade
